  • 4th of July cake w/o whipped topping?

I want to make a great 4th of July cake or dessert, easy and kid friendly, but they all call for whipped topping of some kind. I love the poke cakes and such......any suggestion on what to use in place of whipped topping or for recipes without it? My future hubby detests whipped toppings of ANY kind. Thanks.

  • How should I word my wedding invitations?

We are have a super casual, lakeside, okie wedding in August. This is a 2nd marriage for both of us and we will have our children standing with us. The wedding will be at 10 a.m. and we will immediately serve lunch afterwards (BBQ with all the trimmings) - we have the site rented until midnight with access to swimming and the boat doc and marina. There are camping sites available for both tent and RV - we've already rented all the cabin's available so cannot offer those. I am printing the invitations myself so want to make them easy and make sure everyone knows they can come prepared to hang out all day and have lots of fun.

    Any suggestions are super appreciated!!

  • My child's desk is facing the wall, I need some opinion?

Some objective opinions. I am livid and want to make sure I make a clear choice and thought maybe some others takes on this would help. My 8 yr old daughter is in 2nd grade, she has a first year teacher. She has struggled with reading and writing since she started school and I even held her back in Kindergarten one year. I currently have a private tutor I just hired who comes to our home twice a week to read with her and do extra writing activities. She is struggling to keep up. She talks alot in class, I know this, and we talk about it at home - she has even lost privilegest at home once to help drive the point about not talking. But when I went in to drop off cupcakes for her party today noone was in her classroom. All the desks were in the middle of the room facing the teacher's desk and chalkboard except one at the back of the room facing the wall in the opposite direction. It was my daughter's and I almost cried.

She is a little girl, struggling with her school work and now she can't even see the teacher when she talks? I remember growing up the stigma attached to kids who got their desk separated from others. It's not conducive to learning at all. I went directly to the principal and let her know what I had seen and how upset I was and she said she would talk to the teacher. But I am considering pulling my daughter from the class. I have sent notes and left message for this teacher to call me concerning my daughters progress and what I am doing at home and have not received one return call.

Am I over reacting? I'm sitting at my desk at work so upset I cannot even eat. I have two older children, one 19 and one 15, and have never had a problem with a teacher before, so any advice or comments would really be appreciated.

  • My cockatiel injured herself, what can I do to help her/him?

We just got her Friday, she was handraised and is two months old. I say her, but may be a he. We haven't tried to handle her at all but I whistle and talk to her all the time, I have two daughters and they have been talking softly as well.

When I went to change her newspaper in the bottom of her cage she frantically was trying to "fly away" and now her little beak is bleeding , just a tiny bit, at the top. Should I have her wings clipped? When should I try to handle her? After her "incident" I just kept talking and whistling softly and offered her some veggie through her cage, which she ignored. But when I started to leave she whistled at me, which she started doing sat , when i walk out of the room she'll whistle at me.

    any advice would be great

  • what can i make with applesauce? Like muffins or something for snack for the kids at school.?

I have two or three cans of unsweetened applesauce and this is apple week and my daughter's school. I'd like to make something for them out of applesauce for snack that can easily be transported and eaten by 20 or so 2nd graders. Any good ideas? (muffins or something!)

  • Recipe name?

I am looking for the recipe and name of a dessert we used to have at Thanksgiving made with coolwhip and was light green color? My grandmother used to make but she is now 92 and doesn't remember what went in it or what it was called. Seems like it had miniature marshmallows in it as well

  • Tell me about addiction to crack cocaine, I need to know what exactly it is doing?

I am a recovering (never say recovered - 6 yrs though) addict of another CDS and so is my husband, but he is struggling with this crack addiction. I want to know what exactly crack is doing when inhaled. I am very unfamiliar with this and it is the most powerful thing I have ever seen. He has made a commitment to stopping but I want to know more for me. I've looked at websites, but you always get the best info from people who have been through it or know first hand.

  • How will an asthma attack affect my son's army basic training?

My 17 yr old son left for basic last tuesday, of course he hates it. He has had one asthma attack in his lifetime, 2 years ago, he is not currently treated for this. He called last night said he had an asthma attack, I think he faked it. He goes for a breathing test on Tuesday, which he knows how to pass or fail. What's going to happen? Are they savvy enough to know he just wants to come home or do they even care to mess with it?
