  • Biden/Palin debate. Anyone else find the scoring comical?

I caught the last hour or so of the Biden/Palin debate the other night. After a while, I could hardly pay attention to the subject matter...for being amused by one the "scorers" on the panely. Rollins, I believe it was? Anyone besides me remember him giving Palin an absurd amount of points for saying absolutely NOTHING? I remember one incident where he punched her up 11 points in a matter of about 20 seconds - she'd only spoken two sentences...again, about nothing! Dems do it too, but man...talk about being Republican for the sake of being Republican. It's a shame when you're so ensued with your political party that you try to make positive spins on whatever happens...no matter how stupid. Supporters (all of us) are just as shady as the politicians.

  • Why do car dealerships insist on knowing the full payoff before evaluating your trade-in?

I hope I'll be lucky enough to have this viewed by a current or past salesman, dealership owner, or anyone in the car sales business. While I can respect everyone's input, I'm just assuming that the "truth" will come from someone on the inside. (Truth from a car salesman - I know, funny right?) Just kidding...

But seriously, I don't go in assuming every dealership or salesman is evil and out to rob me blind. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. But this is ONE AREA where I've always been suspicious of dealerships' habits. I've gone to several places to see what they would give me for my trade, and I'm usually there like 45 minutes or so (if not more). They want your license, want to check your credit (which I always refuse), and insist on getting the Finance company so they can call and get a payoff before they do a d@mn thing. Part of the problem, I know, is that I'm too nice. I won't be rude and just say "Look. I just want you to evaluate my trade and tell me what you'll give

  • Why aren't the evacuees in california being referred to as "refugees"?

More than half a million people have had to evacuate their homes due to the fires in California. SOME 15,000 NOW CALL QUALCOMM STADIUM (WHERE THE SAN DIEGO CHARGERS PLAY) "HOME".

After Hurricane Katrina, evacuees were referred to as "refugees", but I haven't heard the same from the media in this instance.

Why do you suppose that is?

Any thoughts on the "operation" and care being given to the evacuees there? I have mine. I'm interested in what you think.

  • Do you drive an '08 or '07 Saturn Outlook or Saturn Aura? (More details - Don't bother to answer if you don't)

Don't bother to answer if you don't, but I understand if you want to sneak for 2 points.

What model do you drive, XE or XR?

What made you decide to get it?

What other vehicles, if any, were you comparing it to?

Now that you've had it for a little, are you happy with the purchase? Why or why not?

If you traded, what did you trade in to get your Saturn?

My wife and I are looking to buy an Outlook and an Aura. I'm reading whatever reviews I can find on the 'net and just thought I'd post a question here as well. In addition to the questions above (sorry about asking so many), feel free to offer any other opinions, suggestions, or comments you feel will help.

    Thanks sincerely for your time!

  • Politically speaking, why do people get so wrapped up over "conservative" and "liberal"?

I'd consider myself an Independant. It's obvious both parties have "issues" and frankly I'm not a big "fan" of politics to begin with. But I realize a responsible adult should pay attention to certain issues and should participate (vote) accordingly, else (as some like to say) have no reason to complain. I know this will be a controversial statement and will be met with a lot of smart comments, but I think people are extremely small-minded who allow themselves to follow one political party on all issues, no matter what. Who says Republicans are conservatives and Democrats are liberals? The media? Who or what came up with this "side definition", and why must it be defined that way? I'm "liberal" on some issues and "conservative" on others. But I hear a lot of people (usually always Republicans) say "No. You have to draw the line. You're either this or that. Black or white. If you can't decide there's no room for you here." Does your political affiliation affect your life that much?????
