  • excel vba help: using combobox and/or listbox to highlight a particular row and column?

i have a worksheet with names listed in column A and dates listed on row 1.

what i need to do is to use two comboboxes/listboxes (don't know which is better for this situation!); the first one the user selects the name and the second selects the date.

my question: is there any way, when the user selects a name, that the combo/list box finds that particular name and takes notes of the row in which it resides (as variable "a") and similarly a column for the date (as variable "b") as integers. [ie. row 3 column C: a=3, b=3]??

    thanks!

  • excel vba help: is it possible to identify a cell via coordinates ?

i know that you can state a particular cell like Range("B1") or, if you name an array of cells like Range("array").

however, is it possible to define an arbitrary cell such as Range(a,b) where a and b are randomly chosen and/or defined by the user?

this is very important as i am trying to use combo boxes to isolate a particular cell and then input data from textboxes into that cell.

    plz help thanks!

  • excel VBA question - using combo boxes to identify an input cell - plz Help!?

I am new to programming, hence why this is so hard for me to grasp. Here is the dilemma:

I am creating a userform that will record how many hours an employee spent doing a specific task. For example, there are three worksheets with titles "Mowing", "Watering", and "Edging". The first column has the employees' names; the first row has the week-ending dates.

So what I need to do is have the user select the name from a combobox and then select the date and then extract what cell that corresponds (ie. If employee #5 is in cell A5 and Week 3 is in F1, then the corresponding cell which the hours will be put in is F5). I want to extract that cell location and then have the inputs (total hrs for each task) be inputted to that respective cell in their respective worksheet.

All the worksheets are the same form, meaning finding the cell value for one sheet will lead to the same value for all worksheets. I am completely stumped with combo boxes; please any help will be great. Thanks a lot

  • Help - how to weld metal bars into shelves?

next few weeks at work i'm planning on turning a bunch of steel and aluminum bars (from the scrap heap) into different sized metal shelves using a TIG welder. i haven't used the welder in awhile but i planned to be supervised by an expert. So my question is really asking for tips/pointers into putting a metal shelf together.

I understand that steel and aluminum will not combine.

The shelves will be used to hold computers and monitors and other necessary equipment for a combustion experiment.

Is there a systematic process (for a shelf specifically) into assembling the bars? How will i be able to clamp it down if the bars are going to be different widths and at right angles? Once the frame is built, there may be an option to weld metal boards, how can that be done? When will a tack weld be more useful than a line weld?

This is the first time that I will be making metal shelves, so any extra tips beyond the questions posted will benefit me greatly.

  • Who here thinks that Adrian Grenier should play Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman) when the movie is made??

I don't know about you, but they showed Adrian (or Vinny Chase as he's known in "Entourage") playing Aquaman in that 2 minute clip in Entourage Season 3 Episode 2 and he looked like he was made to play the part.

That being said, seeing that Hollywood keeps churning out superhero flicks, wouldn't it be perfect if Adrian played Aquaman when and if it rolls into production??

(You must have seen that snippet of Cameron's Aquaman from Entourage to understand what I mean. Heck, if they can get Cameron to direct as well, that would be even sweeter. But Adrian must play the part!)

  • What are the downsides to purchasing a laptop in-store rather than online?

I'm planning to buy a laptop for my sis (she's heading to college) and I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons of buying online versus in-store.

My family has always purchased computer stuff from on-line sites (Dell, Alienware, etc) but in-store (ie. Circuit City, Target, etc) laptops are much cheaper and sometimes come with better options than online. But is there something extra from in-store items that would nip me in the back later on??

I'm not certain on this one. Plz help. Thanks!

  • need help to select best laptop pc for my needs -- 10 points to whoever finds it!?

my budget is no more that $1,000; looking for use in college and want it with at least 512Mb RAM and fast enough processing speed for watching movies/DVDs and listening to music (so like 2.4 GHz at the minimum); at least 3 USB ports; wireless card enabled (either internal and/or port); a DVD-ROM drive; long lasting battery (8+ hrs); prefering 15" screen but can be between 13"-17" (prefer widescreen version); good video and audio cards; at least 60-80GB hard drive

for whoever can name the laptop, its price, where to purchase, a URL, and list of specs (that fall in range that i have given); the best one (not necesarily the CHEAPEST one) will be awarded 10 points.

NOTE: if there are better options out there and/or if i had placed an impossible range, plz also point that out (am not really the genius when it comes to computers)

thank you for helping me out !!

  • Are there any films that deal with infant and child developmental issues?

I'm doing a paper in psychology class about a movie that deals with a real infant/child developmental issue (physical, mental, social, psychological, etc). It doesn't have to be the main point of the film, but at least a significant one (advances the protagonist, etc). I've spent hours on the search engines but to no avail. Could someone please help me out on this? Thank you very very much.
