b/g twins, one picks on the other?
B/G twins 16 mons in age
They've only begun interacting with each other continually in the last week. I love watching them make each other laugh, climb on each other and look for one another. However, baby girl (though smaller then baby boy by quite a bit) has a much more aggresive personality then her brother and Im not sure wha to do?
She takes eveything away from him, pushes him, pulls his hair etc. She is alot more independent and certainly takes the lead between the two of them. He never goes back at her and just crys when his sister does something mean to him, he is much more co dependent on his sister then she is of him and on people in general.
What can we do to discourage her from picking on him? We'll move them apart, etc but she goes right back to pick on him.
1 AnswerToddler & Preschooler9 years agoIs baby having a seizure?
Baby was born premature and spent alot of time in hospital, now she is home and is 7 mons. She has been growing and doing very well, hitting mile stones, etc. She has been making tight fists and shaking out of no where, she doesn't loose her focus at all and her eyes never roll back. Does anyone have any idea whats going on?
3 AnswersNewborn & Baby9 years agoleaving baby unattended in car/arizona?
witnessed a woman leaving her little girl who couldnt have been any more then 3 yrs at the max alone in a running car outside the bank yesterday. I watched in disbelief as she did this and the child no more then a minute later bursting down in tears clearly mouthing "mommy". I was infuriated, went into the bank and very loudly announced to the woman that her baby she left alone in her car is crying and that it's not the smartest idea to leave her. I got an ignored response as she walked outside and opended the car door-it wasn't even locked!!! and took her daughter inside with her.
I was going to call the police but figured by the time they arrived she'd be gone, I should have taken the license plate though. What should I have done legally? Unfortunately this isn't the first time I've experienced "parents" doing this

Family centered in home childcare ran from a three bedroom home soley used for the purpose of providing childcare, I do not live in this home. This center would be staffed by myself and 1-2 others and accomendate care for children ages 6wks-2 ½ years old. Full enrollment would include 5 infants 6wks-18 mons and five toddlers ages 18 mons-2 ½ years. Two hot meals provided a day, diapers and wipes also provided, jar food brought from home. Bedroom A would be used as an infant sleeping room, each baby ages 6wks-18 mons would have their own crib personalized with a picture and their name. Bedroom B would be used as a toddler sleeping room, each toddler aged 18 mons-2 ½ years would have their own toddler bed personalized in the same manner. There would be a rocking chair in both rooms as well as small dressers secured to the wall with a drawer for each child enrolled. Video monitors would be used at all times, regardless to if children are in those rooms or not. Bedroom C would be used as an office space and closed to all enrolled children. The two living room spaces would be divided into an Infant activity room and a toddler activity room, once a baby is walking well enough they'd join the toddler room. Backyard will accomendate play for all ages, a seperate area with soft padding for inmobile infants included. An online security camera of all areas of the childcare center would be provided for parent's viewing with a security code while their at work, etc.

1 AnswerCorporations10 years agoWhat would you charge for this nanny job?
What would you charge this family for your time, given what they are providing?
Child will be barely 3yrs at time of trip, has autisum and can be a bit of a challenge but also a tremendous joy! I have a nephew w/autisum who I spend a great deal of time with and am very familiar with the challenges of caring for children with autisum. I also currently watch this little boy a few times a week for 10-11 hrs a day so I'm very familiar with him and his family.
The first leg of the trip will be a cruise where he will be enrolled in their daycare for the better half of the day, I am only required to have him 3-4 hrs a day helping supervise him when they do games on deck and joining the family for dinner. This is a 2 week cruise where we get off at different ports, Spain and one other place I'm spacing right now. I'll have him off and on through out day when we get off at these ports and have been encouraged to freely rome w/out the family.
The second half of the trip is 2 weeks touring Rome, France, Paris, etc. I would tag team him between grandma and mom, sharing the care when one needs a break. The family has encouraged me to choose desinations as well and they'll be sure to make them happen. All traveling cost, cruise cost, food and housing is covered. My only out of pocket expense is food in addition to three meals a day they provide and spending money. They've encouraged me to have a friend come as well, granted they will have to cover their own cost all the way around and no I'm not taking them up on this.
They would also like to pay me for being there, what do you think a fair rate is to give them? I'm taking 3 wks off work back in the states, 1 week being paid vacation and the total time being gone 4 weeks.

4 AnswersParenting10 years agoHow much to take one year old over night?
I'm the lead teacher in our one year old room at the daycare center I work at. I have an excellent relationship with all the parent's and am often asked to babysit on the weekends in which I charge the same hourly that I make when working at the daycare. I've been asked to watch one of the babys over night which would include bringing him home to his house with me after I get off work at 6:30, feeding him, bathing him and in bed by 8. Then getting up with him in the morning and bringing him back to work with me at the daycare (I go in at 9:30 and would bring him then).
What is a good rate for having him over night? I do NOT want to charge hourly.
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler10 years ago"Patriot" my new betta fish and some questions?
I'm very excited to announce the bringing home of my very first Betta fish! I've been wanting one for a while but haven't been able to make it into the pet store until today. I brought home "Patriot" who is a red betta and given a home with red, white and blue marbles in light of the Holiday. His name is even across his tank with stickers and stars.
I'm very excited an hope to keep Patriot for years but I know it will take time and commitment. I have some questions ...
1) Patriot's home is on my bathroom counter, a place mostly dark but light obviously when being used. It this a good home for him or should he be moved into my room where there is some sunlight but not direct and dark at night?
2) How often do I need to change his water?
4 AnswersFish10 years agoCan you please help me find where I can buy a twin to baby's security item?
My friend recieved a stuffed dog as a gift when her baby was born 17 months ago, her little girl is now extremly attached to this little dog. Two days ago he went MIA and it's been a rough two days! By the grace of the Lord "jo jo" has been found and to avoid another tragedy with a possible chance of never finding him we're on the hunt to find a twin for "jo jo" I've found the exact dog online but can only find where I can order him wholesale which isn't really the idea we have and also you need to have a buisness to buy from them and we don't. Can anyone help us find a place online where we can order just one more? heres the link to where we have found him
3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agomy mom was born deaf with 20% hearing loss, me too?
My mom only had 20% hearing in her left ear and was otherwise deaf, this is all I know about her. I do know that I had a hearing test done when I was 4 which came back as having some hearing loss. I'll be 24 in May and am finding that more and more I am asking people to repeat what they say, sometimes even after they have repeated themselves 3x! Usually I am in pretty close distance too Is it possible I have inherited my mom's hearing loss?

3 AnswersParenting1 decade agowill she ever adjust to daycare?
I've worked as a nanny for a family since their daughter was 6 wks, when she was 15 months I went to school but drove home about every 2 weeks and visited with her for a few hours each time. While I was gone a family friend watched her in their home as I was. I came back when she was 18 months and worked for them for a month. I've decided not to work as a nanny any more because it's very complicated with taxes and some other personal reasons. I was hired at a day care center working with one year olds, the parent's of the baby I'd been nannying (now 21 mons) have enrolled her into my room where I have her through out the day. The first week she was there I was actually out of town so she started with out me, this was her second week and I was with her the entire week.
My heart is breaking, I LOVE this child like she is mine and I've never seen her like this. She has always been such a happy, fun and soical baby. When I watched her at home (some 50 hrs a wk) she was always smiley, never cried-literally! and though she is attached to me wasn't clingy and great with other people. Now she is glued to my side during the day, screams when another teacher comes into my room and the entire time I'm on my lunch break. After I got back today it took me 40 mins to settle her (she was breathing like you do after you've been crying a long time, the deep catching my breath sound). I'm the only teacher in there with 3 other 1 yr olds. I balance it with pride and very well but it kills me because shes clearly so sad to have my attention diverted from being just her, etc.
She comes to me wanting to be held all day, when she cries its a sad cry not a I want something Im not getting. I just have never seen her like this and my heart is breaking.
Will she ever adjust? Was this a bad idea to have her with me at daycare?

We're thinking about getting one of these instead of buying an infant seat. In my experience babies outgrow their infant seats so fast that you really dont get your moneys worth for them. Is it safe to place our baby in this seat from the beginning? Or we were thinking we'd use my neices which is only 6 mons old until our baby reaches 12 pounds.
