  • Suggestions for movies about art or artists?

I'm looking for fictional movies that have art as a major plot driver, or an artist as a main character. So to clarify, no documentaries. I know of tons of documentaries, but I want fictional films. For instance, The Horse's Mouth or Art School Confidential.

  • A book about a ghost in the computer?

I'm beating myself up trying to remember the title and author of this book! I read it when I was in elementary school, so it's probably from the late 80s/early 90s. A girl and her father move to a new town (I think it's San Francisco, but I can't remember) and open up a computer store. The girl soon figures out the store is haunted by a ghost (whose name I believe to be Pascal) who died during an earthquake or a fire.

Additionally, I distinctly remember a chapter about a blue bead which was given to the ghost while she was still alive.

At the end of the book, the main character runs into an old man at the entrance of the mall and realizes it was one of Pascal's family members or friends.

I've tried googling it a million different ways, but I can't seem to find it!

  • what's the organization tv show where they make you have a garage sale?

They come in, make you divide into things you're keeping things you're giving away and things you're selling in a garage sale to help fund the makeover.

Everything not sold is then also donated to charity.

It's on TLC or HGTV or Discovery Home or something like that?

  • Why isn't "Pop Art" a copyright violation?

Under Fair Use policies of the United States, fair use only applies for

    1) criticism

    2) commentary

    3) news reporting

    4) teaching and scholarship

    5) research

The supreme court has also ruled that any artwork that reproduces another for a commercial use (ie sale) cannot be taken under the Fair Use doctrine. Yet artists like Larry Rivers and Andy Warhol take blatantly from images owned by museums and other artists and photographers.

Furthermore, the Shepard Fairey Obama Poster is currently being sued for copyright violations. Why is it different from those other works?
