  • U.K. Homeless dogs jumpers?

I occasionally see dogs of homeless people who are shivering in the cold but adore their owners and that bond should never be broken. I want to crochet some jumpers for dogs who live on the streets. However I don t know where to donate dog jumpers, what charities would accept them?

  • all girl school in the forties?

I'm writing a fictional piece and my main character spent her teen years in an all girl boarding school after her mother and sister died and her very rich father moved them from singapore back to england.

The character is just beginning to realise she is gay, I am looking for ways for her to be aware of this. I know in my own experience it was through realising I was more interested in the bodies of other girls than I was the boys they talked about.

would girls in dorms be a similar age? were dorms larger than four (the common size now with my limited knowledge) and were their really age restrictions on wearing a bra- i have read this in other fiction but I don't know if it is true?

thank you for any information you can offer

  • Haemophilia and Von Willebrand related?

I have a character in a piece I am writing. She is a carrier of haemophilia- her uncle was haemophiliac. Is it genetically possible that her being a carrier of haemophilia could give her a daughter with Von Willebrand?

Are haemophilia and Von Willebrand related in that way?

    Thanks

  • Opinions on story birth scene?

    1943

The fire roared in the hearth, flames leaping and licking at the stone leading up to the chimney. Natasha groaned, a deep guttural groan, pushing her feet into the mattress she lay on. Her heels sunk in, pushing away the feelings. She was hot, too hot, even though it was around 30 degrees outside and so cold the windows and doors had stuck inside their frames. Her skin had droplets racing over its surface. She rubbed her forehead, her hand coming away wet.

Then it started again. Her stomach was squeezing, squeezing so hard against her will, the pain was beyond every understanding she had of pain. It was pure agony. She prayed it would stop, prayed that something would happen to prevent this pain.

She tried to grip the sheet under her but her damp, clammy hands slipped and slid on the soft fabric. She roared out in pain, her head flopping back and tossing around like a rag doll or a marionette on a string. Her heels dug in further, she could feel her body straining. She was too young, she wasn't ready. But she had caught first time, Nikolai had been so happy, thrilled.

The lump formed in her throat; Nikolai.

He was gone, gone a martyr of the war, a Martyr for Russia. Mother Russia had decided he was to fight, he was to die. But he had not been theirs to take. Niko was hers. He would never know what was coming.

Natasha's body seemed to arch against her will, pushing her chest up into the air, the laces on the front of the white nightdress she wore coming undone.

  • What would she feel after giving birth?

My character, who didn't know she was pregnant, has just given birth. She has been unconscious for the past hour or so due to excessive blood loss and has just p awoken with a blood transfusion in process. How would her body feel, both due to the birth and the blood loss, what kind of pain would she experience down there, any other areas which would be painful?

  • How to express feelings without starting an argument?

I feel really, really down about something my parents made a decision on, I am not going to say what it was about because I don't want that to affect your answers. I respect their decision entirely but everytime I think about their decision I feel really down and hopeless about life, I can't get past their decision and it's really affecting me.

I don't know how I can try and let them know how I feel without it appearing to them that I am trying to change their minds, that isn't my intention, I just need help knowing how to get over the decision.

  • Do I pay tax?

Ok. I am an artist, not professionally but for fun and I want to start selling some of my artwork via social media. I would make up to about twenty pounds of income a year at most, as most of my income would go back onto art supplies to keep creating.

I am a student and don't have a job so this is my only real income (other than low rate DLA) do I need to declare this small profit? Would I be taxed on such a tiny amount, and if not is there an amount you have to earn before you are taxed? Thank you

  • Can psychopathy be recovered from?

I have a character who was mentally abused as a child leading to her becoming a recognised psychopath as an adult. However she appears to have softened and to see the world clearer after several years being free of manipulation.

  • Does a red footed tortoise need to stay very warm?

I am hoping to get a red footed tortoise in the next few days, however we are going away in our caravan the day after and I don't yet have a vivarium. I will get the vivarium the day we come back from being in the caravan. I know that tortoises should have a certain level of heat to keep them comfortable and well. However I am unsure if short term a lower tenperature would do her damage. If we were to go away in the caravan I would bring her in her temporary home of a cardboard box and would give her plenty opportunity to run around outside. The temperature in the caravan should stay a round about ten degrees at lowest. If I make her a warm bed would she be ok in that temperature for two nights?

If not she will simply need to stay at home with my dad until we return from our short two night trip, or stay with her current owner.

Would it be safe to make a temporary warm pad for the tortoise out of a microwaved hot water bag? Or would she be better surrounded by straw? Would a cardboard box with high sides be an OK temporary home until the vivarium arrives? Thank you

  • Persuading parents to let me have a snake?

I am desperate for a snake, and have been for a while but I am really trying to push for one. I sat my mum down and told her all the good points about the snake, how I would pay for it, who would look after it when we were away, where I would get the snake and all its equipment from. My mum says she s worried it would escape, I suggested a child lock on the vivarium and she simply replied No.

I have autism and my main interest in life has always been animals, I also have an NC in animal care and know the daily care of a snake like the back of my hand. I don t know how to persuade her. She wouldn t even have to pay for any of the equipment as my gf has a vivarium that belonged to her brothers corn snake.

I don t know what else I can do to persuade her both that they are easy and good pets and that I really really want one.

    Thanks

  • Hippie lifestyle?

I am writing a story and my main character is a bit of a hippie. So far I have established she believes in free love, is against damaging the planet, and is very strong on power to the people. She is pregnant and I wondered if there are any parts of the hippie lifestyle which are likely to be a part of her pregnancy? It is also set in the 1980's. Thanks

  • looking for name help?

Hi, I was hoping you can help me name a character. I want the name to either be a very common eighties style name or a name that is totally out there and plain odd. The child's mother is a hippie and a very strong person. Her name is Regina, so maybe another name linked to royalty?

The father is unknown but the father figure is German so a German word name would maybe work.

Either gender is fine. The biggest thing is it either has to be totally out there and hippie-like or very normal and top twenty of the mid eighties, Thanks for your help

  • Special crafty things for niece/nephew?

I am looking for some ideas of crafty things I can do for my niece or nephew to be. I want to make something or get something unique and special as it is my siblings first baby and I want to prove that I want to be a big part of the kid's life. We probably will not discover the gender before it is born and I want something or things that will take me a while to work on, to place my energy on before he or she arrives.

    Thanks for any suggestions :)

  • knitting crocheting for babies?

I have just found out a friend of mine is expecting, it is still early days but I am really buzzing already. I have a few questions however,

    1) do younger people still put crocheted items on their babies? (aged 24)

    2) what sort of gender neutral patterns should I look for?

    3) do I need to use baby wool? or is all modern wool soft enough for a baby?

    4) what kind of finishings are best to keep clothes baby safe

    thank you

  • Crutiatus curse damage in Harry Potter?

I'm currently working on a fan fiction story and one of the characters, who has recently been a victim to the curse multiple times and has since had four early miscarriages. Do people think the damage of the curse- either physical (long shot) or psychological, could realistically be a reason why she cannot carry a child to term.

Thank you for all your thoughts and any suggestions
