  • Was I too hard on the ol' gal?

This is a link to a question (if you could call it that) here on Yahoo Answers. Was I too hard on the person submitting the question and, if so, how would you have handled it?

  • PLEASE HELP! I think my computer is dieing!?

I just came in from a New Years Eve party and turned on my computer. I couldn't get to any web sites and my desktop looked different somehow. Nothing seems to work right.

I had heard somewhere that computers were susceptible to viruses. So I went to the bathroom and, from the medicine cabinet I found two penicillin tablets. I crushed them up with a spoon and fed them where my CD's go. It ate them OK when the CD holder slid back in. But, it's still not working right. Now, it's turning off and on all by itself.

I called 911 but the dispatcher just kept hanging up on me. The emergency room is 15 miles away. My question is: Should I take my computer to the hospital? I don't want it to die.

  • Internet Explorer (Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions) disappeared when I updated java?

After a fresh install of Vista x64 I went to the Java website and installed the Java plug-in for the 64-bit os of IE8. I tested and Java worked. However, I noticed that after installing Java both of my desktop icons (x86 and x64) for IE8 were gone.

I went to 'All Programs' and found both icons missing as well. I typed in "Internet Explorer" in 'Search' and returned nothing.

I went to the IE8 website and downloaded IE8 (x86). On install I received the message: "This installation does not support your system architecture (32/64 bits)."

When I tried to install IE8 (x64) I received the message: "Unable to install as a newer version is running on your system."

I then went to Programs and Features and noticed that IE8 was missing there as well.

Does anyone know what happened or knows how to fix this problem where I can have access to IE8 again?

  • What is the fastest car you have ever driven and how fast did you go?

I purchased a 1991 Infiniti Q45 (This was before speed limiters were required to be installed on them.) Late one night on the interstate in Illinois, I topped it out at 160 mph. What a thrill - that I had gone that fast and hadn't got a ticket either!)

What about you? What is the fastest car you have ever driven and how fast did you go?
