A kid and a cell phone and text messaging?
I would like to know how a few parents would handle this... My T-Mobile bill came today, we have Our phones, a phone for our 15 year old daughter, and a 1000 minutes shared plan. Well our bill came in a 9 X12 envelope, and was 149 pages long... It also said we owed them $924.51...There was no excess minutes calling used, the bulk of the bill some $840+ was for text messages...mainly INCOMING text messages to my kids phone... some were made by my daughter on the Yahoo Instant Messenger (at school no less) to the kid texting her. We firmly let her know about text messaging and that it charges when you text. I think that she had no idea that it also charges when other people text in, and many of her friends are disrespectful of the fact that we don't want text message plan, as we adults would never use it.
Now we have a very short amount of time to come up with an astronomical amount of money.
How would any of you have handled this with the kid? We took away the phone.
16 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoUnbelieveable Sister- in -law?
I would like to know how would any of you deal with a sister-in-law like this... My sister in law is 46 years old. She has one child, a daughter who is aged 7. This is my husband's sister.
My husband is active duty in the military. At this moment he is serving with a unit who has to be ready to activate and go wherever within a two hours notice.
Recently we got an invitation in the mail that looked like a wedding invitation... you know engraved, with all the tissue paper etc. It was for of all things...my 7 year old neice's First Communion. My husband made the comment when they were kids and had their First Communion, they got a cake afterward. My sister in law wants people to make reservations at the church, and is having a reception at a fancy restaurant...that is 1380 miles away from where we are. She called my husband who is away from home asking him if there was any possible way we could come, even for a week. He said he was on 2 hour recall. What does she not understand?

I am an adult who has a bit of an unusual circumstance. Something you don't see too often. I have a little sister. She is more than 26 years younger than me, and even younger than my children. She emails me and text messages me all the time ( and I had to tell her to stop texting me while she was on Christmas Vacation because I couldn't do my work.) She also invites me to join things like my yearbook and other sites. I have been out of high school for a very long time (almost 25 years), and I sure don't want a site like my yearbook send all of my e-mail contacts invites to join up on their site , especially when some of my e-mail contacts are older than me.
How hurt would any of you be if your sister who was so much older than you asked you to stop sending her that type of stuff? I adore my little sister, and she thinks very highly of me, but there is that HUGE age gap. She gets along fantastic with my youngest daughter who is one year older than she is.

5 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoGetting a College Transcript from 15+ years ago?
I attended college more than 15 years ago. I am currently under consideration for a Federal position, and they would like my College transcripts, showing what my credit courses were in and my GPA. I have called the school who basically told me I can have them....for $400. I asked why $400, and they are trying to hold my transcripts from prior to 1993 because they said that at some point of time, I dropped a class and they didn't get paid for it ( I had attended college completely on scholarship from the school and Pell Grants). That if I don't pay for this dropped class, I don't get transcripts. Are they allowed to do this, and after all this time, does it not seem futile?

My husband belongs to a joint forces command. He is over age 40. I need some input regarding PRT/PFT requirements. Since he has been there (only recent) he has been made to run five miles or more every day and sometimes 10-12 miles. He is in the Navy and can run the PRT (Navy) in about 10:00 which falls into excellent. OK some of the guys he works with are SF/ Rangers and Seals. My husband is not naturally a runner. When he went to this command he was just "expected" to be able to do it. His department head now also wants my husband to lose weight. Technically, he is about 8 pounds overweight for his height. Forget taking age into consideration. He is barely eating, and the weight isn't coming off because of all the exercising he is doing. Oh, and they are having him do pull ups with Marines too. Since when did going to a new command involve a whole new set of rules? He works communications/intellegence. He was sent there for his ability there, not for physical powress. Opinions??
10 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoHow would you deal with this Collection Agency Problem?
I have recently obtained my Annual Credit Report from the Big three Credit Bureaus. This is a similar question to that posted a few days ago by another user. My credit report shows no deliquent accounts except for one from a Collection Agency called AFNI. It being placed on the account in 2007. They say I owe money to Verizon. I was doing business with Verizon until 1/2008, and Verizon said I don't owe them any money and that AFNI does not do their collections. I have reported this to Attorney Generals Offices, Disputed it with credit bureaus and have written to AFNI, Registered mail. They send me back a form to do an identity theft investigation/dispute. After some research, I found out AFNI buys junk debts. That this is probably a re-aged debt which they legally cannot make me pay and that it was from most likely an old Bell Atlantic account. We have our phone reciepts from the past 7 or 8 years so if was ours it is older than that. What would you do to get them to back off?
10 AnswersCredit1 decade ago1997 Volvo 960/ S-90 running rough like it's going to stall?
I own an 1997 Volvo 960/S-90 2.9L V-6, this now 11 year old tank has 117,000 miles on it, It has had it's 100,000 mile maitenence performed, and it is driven frequently. It has had an oil change recently, and a new air filter and front rotors and breaks at the end of July/beginning of August. I have noticed one thing. All the plastic tanks/trim are drying out and cracking on this car, like the windshield washer fluid tank and the coolant overflow are both cracked and leak. This car spits and sputters and runs like crap. It is also an all of a sudden thing and is temperamental about WHEN it is going to do this. I have already also put fuel injector cleaner in the car. Anyone have a similar experience and/or what was/is it?
