Website to scan laptop for virus'?
I was dumb, and waited too long to get an anti-virus.
Clicked an Ad from a website, then my computer went wacky.
Yadda Yadda skip a play by play of what happened,
the aftermath however, after I restarted my computer, it turned on fine but with no programs/files in the start menu or desktop.
They are all there in Safe mode, but not accessible because of it.
I was told to go to a certain website, scan for the virus, and fix it accordingly, all through safe mode. Can't remember the name of the site though!
Any one know what website(s) is good for this? Is it recommended if you're on a budget?
Is it possible to fix through safe mode?
I'm not the most technical but I know a bit more than basics.
I can post more info on what happened if anyone thinks they know what's wrong.
3 AnswersOther - Computers9 years agoMy tibialis anterior starts to burn before any other leg muscles when walking?
Is this normal? Some times on long walks this muscle feels like it's the only thing making me walk, gets to be painful. If this isn't common, what can I do to fix it?
(I'm a very fast runner, just after walking for a decent amount, this muscle burns alottt)
6 AnswersRunning10 years agoWhy do my koi 'flash' during the day?
I only seem to notice it during mid-day to evening, the hottest points of the day (May just be where the sun is at those times). In between 'twitches', they are fine, and either school around, chase each other, eat, or just relax. The flashing is more common in 2 of the 5. They only started doing this a couple days ago.
Would it be because of a PH spike/crash during the hot hours of the day? There is plenty of plants and shade.
I can't get down to the petstore for a few hours (was going to take them a water sample), just want to see if anyone else has had this experience.
2 AnswersFish10 years agoAre any of these types of goldfish suitable for a pond?
Ryukin, Oranda, Ranchu, BlackMoor or Telescope?
Some websites have them in the pond section. Some say they would be ok, guy at the pet store said they probably wouldn't survive. (He wasn't the pond expert though).
The pond is 300+ Gallons with a 40 gallon pond higher up, with a waterfall connecting the 2.
Would they be ok in either of these pond?
I would assume to put them in the bigger, in ground pond as the water temperature would change more in the smaller, above ground pond. (I was thinking some red minnows in the small pond)
Lots of vegetation and resting/hiding spots, good aeration..
Should I buy one of those fancy goldfish?
3 AnswersFish10 years agoFloating plants slowly dieing?
Only the floating plants are dieing in my one pond? The planted ones are growing phenomenal, but the water lettuce and hycinth are shriveling?
The other pond has floating plants from the same tank at the store, and they are growing fine.
I do the exact same things in my 2 ponds, except the one they are doing fine in is a lot smaller.
What could be doing this?
They have plenty of shade but get some direct sun during the day.
1 AnswerFish10 years agoGood homemade bio-filter media?
So I have a small set-up, and just added a UVC (much bigger capacity than my pond is). I'm looking to add 1 more filter at the end to collect the dead algae the UVC creates from re-entering the pond.
Set up will be;
A pre-filter > pump > UVC > biofilter > waterfall
Instead of spending another $100 on a bio-filter, I was just going to make one at home. I've seen many different ways to do it. I was just wondering if there's any household or miscellaneous items that would be good medias for bacteria to grow?
I have a bunch of fluval filter screens/sponges and a few normal sponges, but still have room in the tub for more. Or should I top up the rest with Biomaxx pellets or something?
3 AnswersFish10 years agoWhat UV sterilizer would be best?
For a koi pond about 350 gallons? Anybody know of any sites with good quality products for decent prices? I've looked around a lot, but there may be that small individual owned company I haven't found yet.
Pond started going green with the sun and hot humid weather.
Need a UV sterilizer/clarifier, not just a clarifier.
1 AnswerFish10 years agohelp with sick pond fish?
I went away for the week and when I came back, a goldfish was dead. The koi and some goldfish look ok, but are acting really agitated. All of a sudden jerking around and jumping repeatedly. Otherwise acting ok. While some smaller goldfish have like wounds or warts and some have what looks like a white kind of mold. What could have happened in a week? and what should I look into buying to save them.
2 AnswersFish10 years agoHow to get my psn welcome back package?
I heard they are giving away free games for previous psn members. Where do I find this? My games/ online play have been working perfect for the last week, but I decided to check out what games I could download for free, now PLaystation Store says it's currently down for maintenance. Are the free downloads in the store? And if they are, is everyones store down right now?

So there's some big blotches of silicone exposed on the inside. None of it is lose or close to breaking off. Will fish nibble at it?
2 AnswersFish1 decade agoCan a common red ear turtle be kept outside in a pond?
They are native to Florida, so I take it they are tropical. The recommended water temp is 78-82°F(~26-28°C), but they are in the top 100 for invasive species. So they are hardy and adaptable. I live in Canada, will he survive?
Someones giving him away
3 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoBest way to clean a fish tank?
Just bought a 100 gallon tank. I got a really good price, but it was used for turtles and then stored in his garage for 6 months. So the grime had time to dry out, what would be the best cleaning product to clean the glass?
Also, what would be the toughest thing to wipe with that wouldn't scratch the glass?
3 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoHelp! My pond drained need to save fish?
I had my pond running for almost 3 weeks, not a problem. I only had the pump hose sitting on the edge while I wait on special rocks to build the waterfall. 1 rock holding it down. After the first night with fish in it, the hose was moved (I figure the big bear like raccoon I've seen), and about 98% of the water was drained. There are 12 fish (10 baby goldfish and 2 baby koi), and they seem pretty healthy still, but only have about 1-3 inches of water going around the outside of the bottom. All are fully submersed and swimming.
How can I save them with minimal stress!? I'm thinking of going and buying a few gallons of water from the petstore. They only cost 15$ total, but still, don't want to kill them. I don't have an aquarium either, currently searching on kijiji.ca

the name and price range would be awesome
1 AnswerFish1 decade agoCan I add an extension to my preformed pond?
Recently had some landscaping done around the pond. Now I want to add a shallow 1ft' x 1ft trench leading around a flowerbed (approx. 4 feet), maybe ending in a shallow circle. My question is, could I put a small portion of the plastic preformed pond, and use pond liner for the addition?
If it can be done, how could I bond the pond with the liner?
(I'm not looking for a solution that will last a lifetime, I want to have a complete new set up in a couple years.)
1 AnswerGarden & Landscape1 decade agoCool or odd pond fish?
Are there any odd or different fish I could put in my pond. I found some blue sunfish but they would be shipped from over 2,000km away. (I'm in Toronto, so keep in mind the temperatures). If I knew names of interesting fish, it would be much easier to research and find them locally. Preferably ones that are safe to be with goldfish. (I don't want anything golden, orange, black or white)
Pond is roughly 350-400 gallons

1 AnswerFish1 decade agocan I put this fish in my pond?
Some one is selling a nice 10 gallon tank, with a heater and thermometer, with a leopard sailfin plecko in it. It's 9 inches, so will need a bigger tank soon. for $25
I'm looking for a 5-15 gallon tank for my betta, so the tank is a good deal I think. Since I don't have a heater.
There are some small gold fish in the pond, would he survive? (Toronto temperatures)
(I'll bring him in for the winter)
4 AnswersFish1 decade agoPond question about rain?
I recently emptied out all the winter gunk from my pond, but now a week later, it's full of rain water. Is rain water suitable for some goldfish?
If not, would I need a conditioner or what?
5 AnswersFish1 decade agoBetta Fish Questions?
So I won a blue chinese fighting fish. Not sure if it's male or female. I've been reading up a lot on how to care for it. It's in a fish bowl about 3x bigger than the little cups they have them in at fish stores (Planning on moving to a bigger tank, just can't do that for a couple weeks)
So I know I should change around 20% of the water weekly, adding purified water (or tapwater with a cleanser added)
I should leave a small amount of algae (none has built up so far)
I know to vary the foods, preferably pellets, bloodworms, or brine shrimp
and I know that the best betta fish DON'T come from the local pet store, but i'm unsure of where the origins of this one are.
So my questions;
Won the fish yesterday, and only have Tetrafin goldfish flakes on hand, would this be a sufficient meal for 2 more days? (that's when I have time to go out and buy actual betta food) He often spits the flakes up, I'm just hoping he is being stubborn or breaking the food down a bit. I heard bacterial infections are common.
What other household food could I use ONCE if he gets sick of the flakes, a tiny piece of chicken? raw or cooked?
When using tapwater and adding a cleanser, should I distill the water for a certain amount of time with the product in it? Or what's the best way to change the water?
There are blue pebbles at the bottom, is this good or bad? I noticed some food has fallen underneath them. (Pebbles are about the size of a nickel) I know they like hiding spots, but he will have to make do for a week or 2.
Is it really healthy to put a mirror up to the bowl for a bit? He doesn't puff up when he looks at himself, I'm wondering since the bowl is round is doesn't have the same effect?
Any other tips?
