  • Not a boating question, but...?

as a long time fan of this website, i know boaters have a better than average knowledge base of mechanical and electrical items. My question is this - my daughter has a 12v rechargeable cars but it does not run for long. these cars are advertised as 12v but when you open it up there are two 6v sealed batteries wired in series to produce 12v. the motors (one for each rear wheel) are 12v the charger is 12v, can you replace the two 6v batteries for one 12v battery that would hold a charge longer eg a motorcycle battery or similar as the space is restricted or even two 12v batteries in parallel

  • warming of baby bottles in cafes?

I have seen it happen and it has happened to us. You go into a Cafe with a hungry baby and they say - Sorry. but we can't warm up your baby's bottle because of the health regulations. Where does it say in the regulations they are not allowed to do it, as i cannot locate this any where in the act. It would be nice to turn around and say well actually blah blah blah. this is in victoria australia by the way.

  • Blown fuse - or something else?

I know, i'm stupid but it was an honest mistake. I accidently put the pos+ on the battery neg- and the neg- on the battery pos+, but it was dark and I was tired. I couldn't figure out why up on the trim was going down and vise versa, and then I realised what I had done. Changed them around the right way, the motor starts and runs and the trim works fine, but the trim gauge and the volt meter don't work, have I popped a fuse, a relay or is it a six hundred million dollar repair job.

  • Johnson 115hp temp sender location?

I want to install a temperature gauge in my boat and I need to know where the temperature gauge sender goes into the block. I have an OMC temperature gauge and and I also need to know the part number for the sender. It is a 1994 115hp Johnson mod no. BJ115TLERC. Just to confirm, I don't want the overheat alarm senders located on the port and starboard sides of the respective heads, but the temperature gauge sender.

  • is is illegal to tie a noose?

Is it illegal to tie a noose on building and construction sites in Australia. I have been told it is, but no one can tell me why or where the law states that it is. I would like to see some proof of this either in state or commonwealth law. to me it is just another knot, but i can understand the emotional stigma attached and i am curious to know.

  • maintaining boat batteries?

what is the best way of maintaining batteries when not in use? When the boat is not in use and i remove the batteries, should they be left on the charger, buy a smart charger, or alternate charge them up for a couple of days, then leave them, then recharge again. with the smart chargers that claim you can leave them on permanently, do they work. it is very seasonal where i live and i don't get to use my boat as much as i would like, and ideally i would like to be able to put the batteries in the shed, hook them up and leave them for months at a time, but i don't know if this is possible. they are sealed marine batteries, and i don't like the thought of having to buy them again and again if i can help it.

  • tanks of world war 2?

did axis and allied tanks use optic sights during ww2 for aiming the main gun. i have read that tigers were accurate to approx 2,500 metres, but the first t34's were only accurate to approx 500m, was this because of the limitations of their main gun, or were they aimed by eye.

  • help installing a webcam?

Installed software and webcam working fine, but the audio is driving me crazy. the jack on the back of the computer is marked with a microphone symbol, so i plugged in mic in and got mic to work, but speakers were plugged into this jack previously and this works. is it possible for a jack to be both line in and line out, because that is what it is doing. i have tried the other two jacks at the back of the computer and got nothing, no sound in no sound out. to clarify, these are the blue green and pink female jacks located on the rear of the computer

  • Has the human race stopped developing?

With the advances made in medical science, we are keeping all the people alive who would have died from natural attrition, therefore natural selection of the fittest is no longer applicable. I am not saying we should not keep them alive, I am merely curious as to your opinion about the future of humanity.

  • location of transmission oil cooler?

where is the best/most common place to mount an automatic transmission oil cooler, and is there any advantage to running the oil through the standard radiator cooler and then through the aftermarket oil cooler as well, or does it just go straight to the aftermarket one. I tow a boat and the engine temp gauge heads skywards when i hit the hills, everyone has advised me to fit an oil cooler, so i guess that is what i will try.
