Nonprofit Tax Laws Question? Complicated.?
Here is the situation:
1. Organization is a 501c3.
2. Organization has a religious "internship" in which participants pay $700/month for 12 months, for "tuition", room/board.
3. Participants "volunteer" about 30 hours a week to the organization by doing the administrative functions of the the organization.
4. The "tuition" can be paid for by churches, the participant, or other individuals who choose to.
5. Organization claims that all the "tuition" costs are considered donations and therefore if the participant leaves the organization before the 12 months is ended, no part of the "tuition" is refunded.
Question--
1) Is the "tuition" tax deductible?
2) If it is tax deductible, who for? Individual who "donates" or participant of the "internship"?
3) Where does the "contributions from which you benefit" come into play or apply in this situation?
4) Are there any illegal practices, based on the information provided, on the part of the organization?
Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I have a report that I need to complete every 180 from a start date. So, for example, I completed a report on 3/15/2010 and will need to complete it again on 9/11/2010. Each start date is different for each client and rather than trying to figure out 180 days each time, I would like to setup an excel document that calculates that automatically for me. What function would I need to use?

5 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoW4 Exemption Changes?
A co-worker of mine will change his exemptions about 3 days before the end of a pay period when he works a lot of overtime in order to get more money on his check. After he is paid for that period he changes his exemptions back to reflect the correct amount. Is this legal, given that he pays more in taxes when he files?

1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoYahoo Mail Problem--No Spam?
So, I know this is an odd problem to have as some would count it as a blessing.
For the past 3 months I have not received ANY spam in my Spam box for Yahoo Mail. I am using the New Yahoo Mail and have been for about a year.
I went from getting 100-200 spam emails a day to NONE. While I enjoy not having to empty the spam box and ensure that nothing good got sent there, I wonder what else I am not getting or what else is not being delivered to my email account.
I changed to Classic Yahoo for about a week to see if there was a change-- None.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
