  • Baked Pineapple with Ginger?

So a couple of years ago I remember using a recipe (I think it was Delia Smith, but I'm not sure) for Caramelised Baked Pineapple, It had lots of wintery spices like Ginger and Cinnamon, but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it, I remember having the pineapple uncovered, baking in the oven stood up and basting it every so often. I've tried a couple of times to replicate it but I can't seem to get it right, I was wondering if anybody could help me? Me and my friends are all having a night in tonight and I have a pineapple waiting to be used so I'd like to make this tonight :)

  • Adobe Download Assistand Error 101?

I am trying to download the 30 day trial of Adobe Photoshop CS6 using the suggested Adobe Download Assistant. Every time I try it gets to 100% then tells me that there is an error extracting the product installer (Error 101). I understand that this happens because the installer file needs to be extracted and that there is not enough memory available to do this. However, I have 174GB of free memory on my C: drive and more than 3GB or RAM available. The program specs on the website say that it requires 1GB or available disk space and 1GB of RAM available. I've defragmented my hard drive and also performed a C: disk cleanup and deleted program files that I don't use and it's still stopping. When I re-try the download and I click to resume from where I left off it starts from 92.7% the last few times.

  • Stray dog import costs from Greece to UK?

I've been working out in Greece all summer and yesterday two puppies were dumped behind the centre and we're sort of accidentally adopted them. We're feeding them and giving them water and some tourists are feeding them too, which is absolutely great! I'm worried about one of them and whether he'll make it through the winter, his back legs don't seem all too strong and he shakes a lot and gets bullied a lot by the other pup.

It's only a brief thought as I'm not sure where I'd keep him, but if I can find a really good home for him that I trust will be reliable and loving, what are the costs of bringing a stray pup into the UK? I'm a student so I couldn't have him live with me but there's a friend I know might be able to take him and if not then there is an agency in Greece I've been contacting. Anybody know rough prices?

  • How long would it take for a dive computer to reach Greece?

Obviously I'm aware that it depends on the dealer and where they ship from, but say for instance it's coming from the UK. I want to buy a Suunto Zoop (preferably in orange) to use while I'm here in greece doing a divemaster internship. I'll be going back in September (20th) but I really really want to start using it now because I'm so so excited to get one haha!

I've planned on putting my employer'sn name on the delivery address as I feel (since zakynthos is quite a small island and I think he's pretty well known around Laganas) that it would be more likely to reach me, but am I still likely to get it in time? My dad posted a letter out to me about 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived. If anyone has any advice or tips for me as to maybe which dealers are really good with delivery etc

  • Cheap/budget Dive insurance for 3 month trip to Greece?

I''m going to Zante to do a dive master internship which involves working at the centre during the day and completing the course in my spare time.

None of the insurance comparison websites seem to have an option for diving and most of the decent priced quotes I've got can't be used for more than a month or two.

Does anyone know any really good value or cheap travel insurance which includes scuba?

Thanks in advance! I leave a week tomorrow If that effects any answers I get.

  • Would the NaOH affecting CH3COOH + CH3COONa Buffer Solution?

If CH3COONa and CH3COOH are mixed with water to create a buffer solution, and the water is needed to release the CH3COO- ion from the CH3COOH then does the NaOH resulting from that reaction (CH3COONa + H2O --> CH3COO- + H+ + NaOH) affect the equilibrium? I'm confused as to how this would be an effective buffer solution if the solution itself contains a strong base. Unless I've just missed a step in the creation of the buffer where the NaOH is removed somehow...

If anyone could help that'd be great I have an exam tomorrow and I just noticed this! Cheers in advance.

  • Quick relief to repetitive stress injury?

I have an assessment for university due in on Friday that I still need to type up. The problem is I'm in so much pain right now from what I think is repetitive stress injury, which I got from typing up an essay last minute last week. I tried putting a support bandage on it yesterday (one of the tube bandage ones) and that only seems to have made it worse. I don't really have much time spare to go to the doctors, but even if I did I've been to the doctors with a sprain before and there was nothing they could do.

This is only a self-diagnosis - there is pain in the top of my wrist and it hurts all down the bones in the back of my hand to about halfway to my knuckles. There is no swelling or bruising and I can't bend my hand very much (maybe about 10-15 degrees angle - normally it's nearly 90). It hurts to twist it, although I can cope with this pain for small tasks. It hurts to carry even light things unless my wrist is straight and I'm not putting any effort into keeping it like that – i.e. I have to hang my arm directly down.

I know that if it isn't rested when the injury is first sustained that an RSI can lead to long-term problems and that rest and massage and just going easy on it really is my only real option, but there is no way I'm leaving this essay as it's 50% of my module.

I've tried letting my friend type for me, but I really struggle to get out the words I need to say and it's taking too long.

If anyone knows any ways to reduce the pain (other than pain killers, because they don't seem to do much) I'd love to know because I'm occasionally getting to the point of tears with this, and I still have half a week to go.

    Cheers

  • What do I say if the chi squared test result doesn't match the appearance of the data?

My data shows that the species abundances for upper, mid and lower shores in samples we took were 3, 2.3 and 1.7.

My Null hypothesis was that 'there is no significant difference between the frequency of species found at each tidal height.' To me, it appears that there is a difference - the species richness decreases lower down the shore. However, the chi squared test states that the null hypothesis is accepted. I'm fine with this, but how would I describe it if I've already mentioned that there is a difference in species abundance between the three sites?

  • where can I buy loads of old t-shirts and other crafty things?

I need to raise money for an expedition I'm going on and thought I'd start out altering old t-shirts and stuff. I've done a few of my own and if I bet they'd look alright if I just bought loads of old t-shirts and used those. Also, where can I buy things like the little plastic flowers and hello-kitty faces? People seem to go mad for them for some reason...

  • heat-lumps/bites possibly turning into eczema?

I have a small patch on my back that is just like very dry itchy skin that my Auntie thinks could be eczema.

On friday night I stopped at my friends place - newly moved into student halls - and on the saturday morning I noticed I had quite a few lumps that looked like bites or heatlumps or something of the sort.

On sunday morning they started itching and then yesterday I noticed a few more that weren't there before and that the older ones had flattened out and are now patches of red, dry itchy skin. I put some oilatum on them last night which my niece has for her eczema, and then again this morning. I've not noticed much of a difference, they're still itchy, but I'm guessing that will take time. I'll be visiting the doc once I move to uni on friday, but until then does anyone have any kind of idea as to what it is?

    cheers.

  • What trophic level would an insect eating plant be on?

It was just a thought that sprung to mind when we were doing food webs and stuff last year and I completely forgot to look into it..

They are producers because they produce their own energy via photosynthesis, yet they are also consumers because they consume the insects.. so would they be on the first, second or inbetween trophic level of a food chain? Are there sublevels like 1.5 or something?

  • Changes of address / registration for healthcare when moving away for Uni?

I'm moving away for uni, and the town i'm moving to is about a 2 hour drive away from my hometown. I'm not sure if I'll be living back here after I finish uni or not.

Should I change my dentist and opticians? As I can easily travel back just for checkups, but with dentist if I needed to be seen quickly I'd probably want somewhere closer. I will be registring with a GP there.

Should I change the address on my drivers lisence? I haven't passed my test yet, so it's just a provisional, but I'm hoping to learn either while I'm there if I can pull the money together somehow or when I come back home for the summer.

I'll definitely be notifying my banks and phone contract providers, is there anyone I've missed?

  • Anybody who was at Hull Uni (preferably Scarborough Campus) within the past few years?

    I have a few questions --

Is it worth buying a platinum card, and can you buy it after the year has started if you change your mind?

Are the freshers week events the same as Hull campus events, or are there seperate ones for the Scarborough campus?

How good is the Scarborough nightlife, and how often do you get the bus to Hull for nights out?

    Big thanks! :)

  • Scarborough Nightlife?

I'm going to Hull Uni in september, but I'll be studying and living in the Scarborough Campus and I was wondering how the nightlife is arounnd there?

I know there's a bus that goes between the two hull campuses, so any nights out in Hull I can fairly easily get to, but I won't be doing that every time I go out

  • Bus to Widdop (Blake Dean) in Heptonstall?

Me and some friends are planning on going camping one day this week at Blake Dean near Widdop, just past Heptonstall. We'd be turning off the road just before the Blakedean Scout Hostel, just at the fork in the road before it. It's a very long walk from the only other bus route that I can find, and I was wondering if anybody knew of any buses that go along Widdop Road? If anyone could help out (bus times would be brilliant!!) then that would be great! thankyou!

Here is a link to the place on google maps.

  • Slow reactions from graphics tablet..?

I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun graphics tablet, and I stopped using it for a while because my computer broke and it took a while to get a new one sorted, etc. Anyway, I've re-installed the software off the website, so the software's all up to date, and I've just bought some new pen nibs but it's still really slow and sometimes doesn't recognise the pen's touching the tablet until it's been on it for about a secon, which can be quite a long time when drawing or sketching something. It's not that old really, and the surface isn't damaged or dirty, and the cable seems fine and it's been kept safe since I stopped using it, do I just need to buy a new one? I hope not, they're way more expensive than I remember haha :/

  • Could nuclear transplant technology allow different species births?

Before I start, let me just clarify that this is a purely technical question, and I am disregarding any ethical issues that might be raised. It's not like I'm gunna do it...

Using nuclear transplant, could the genetic info of, say a sheep, be inserted into an empty egg cell (and would this have to be a sheep cell to accept the DNA or a cow cell so antibodies don't attack, or doesn't it matter?) and the fertilised egg implanted into, say a cow.

Surely this must have been thought of and researched into before?

Would there be a problem with the placenta? And if so, could it be done with marsupials, or are they all so closely related that it wouldn't be that much of an achievement?

  • holiday cottage for 7 18 year olds, august time, south coast of england?

Me and some of my friends are looking to go away for a week during the summer holidays. We'd really like to be on the southern coast, we were thinking Cornwall or Devon - somewhere like that. We all want to learn to surf, so we need somewhere within about half an hours drive from somewhere that offers lessons, and we don't mind compromising quality for cheapness -- after all, we're all going to uni un september so that's something we're going to have to get used to.

I've had a look round some websites, but they all seem to only advertise quite expensive cottages and none of them seem to have any kind of way to refine a search to only include options that are close to the sea or under a certain price.

If anyone knows any good places or agancies or anything, I would really appreciate it! :)
