In a sainsburys car park, if someone exceeds the 5mph limit (doing 30+) causing one pulling out a junction to hit them, who's at fault?
My dad pulled out in the private car park causing the guy in a vxr sports car to scrap the side of his car along my dads offside corner wing. The guy claims no more than 25mph but my dad thought faster than than and the limit there is 5mph anyway. I feel my dad was seen in the old van and the guy floored the car so he could scrap the side of the car in an insurance scam. Is it worth telling police and getting a look at the cameras? Thanks
7 AnswersInsurance & Registration3 years agoHouse sold to my dad 7 months ago had an annual mortgage letter sent for the previous owner - how is this possible?
Its as though the mortgage remains secured against it, despite it being sold at market value and using conveyancing. It's a commercial mortgage.
2 AnswersRenting & Real Estate3 years agoWhy would I get a letter from security vetting (MoD) requesting permission to access my medical records at current employer (BAE Systems)?
Its been 4 years and 1 month since starting at my current job and my medical condition hasn t changed so why would they want access to medical files now? I did sign to confirm permission but will I loose SC and my job? Is my employer trying to find a loophole to legally dispose of me? Thanks
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics4 years agoWhat are the rules on repairing a cars rear red brake lens with red repair tape so it passes the mot?
Can pieces overlap where they cover 2 cracks intersecting. Does it have to be on cracks that are part of the plastic but not actually over the light cluster. Are creases and small air bubbles allowed due to the curvature of the plastic?
Thanks,

3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs4 years agoIs this car insurance compensation legit?
Twice had calls from a uk call center asking about a crash 3 years ago that had no claim resolved. At the time I reported it but didn't make a claim as thr car would just be written off as it was old and the other driver who reversed into my stationary car wouldn't admit fault (but I had his details.)
I've been told on the phone that as a no fault claim I made hadn't been resolved after 2 years I was entitled to £400 compensation. Is this true? Will it affect my no claims?
Thanks,
Charles
6 AnswersInsurance & Registration4 years agoIs this an acceptable way to support the tops if the strings of a straight flight of residential stairs?
The wood will be fixed to the wall both sides and fastened to the 4" lintel underneath. The strings will be fastened to the wall even 300mm along each side too.
This is in derby, uk.
Thanks,
Charles
3 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)4 years agoHow long do HMO tenants become lodgers after the landlord moves in a spare room and claims as his main residence?
For much quicker eviction of the tenants as making them lodgers seems to give the landlord more power.
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate4 years agoAccused of 'hit and run' that own 3rd parties CCTV shows I didn't do - where do I stand?
So it was dark and I was reversing slowly down a narrow closed road and I remember coming close to a vehicle so I stopped and swerved away and forward to straighten up with more distance. I then continued to reverse back down to park round the corner. I then have a jolly neighbour knocking on my door to say I've just committed a hit and run on their car and they have it on CCTV. A 150mm slight surface scratch (photos I have) along the front offside wheel arch is the alleged damage and they promptly reported me to the police and she was laughing out loud that i would have a £2000 fine and criminal record. I didn't accept the blame as I didn't remember hitting but wasn't sure because it was dark and I found what could have been the scratch on my car but it was 2 inches too low vs theirs. All they know is my name and insurer. It took 90 minutes of continual asking to see her cctv footage from outside her house which showed the back of my car was about 400mm from the closest point of alleged scratch on their car. I have an audio recording of the conversation afterwards which was basically her getting rid of my quick.
Am I still going to get a criminal record anyway because they got my insurance details (not an acceptance of blame) as the car was taken away on a truck yesterday probably to find £10000+ worth of damage they will do me (my insurer) for?
5 AnswersLaw & Ethics4 years agoWhy does metered water in the UK cost 10 times more than in the US even though we are a small island surrounded by it?
I can understand fueling your car being cheaper as there is less duty in US than in UK but there is no duty on water and the water in the US is probably better cleaned also!
4 AnswersOther - Environment4 years agoBeing a landlord makes you a bigger loser than your tenants that rent from you?
My m8 said that when he was at school his mum used to rent accommodation from people that gave them the key just before the rent and deposit was to go through so she could quickly reverse it. This meant she had a minimum of 2 months to live there rent free before being kicked out, keeping the £600pcm rent from council and sometimes even threatening to sue the landlord for dangerous living conditions. She would then move on to the next victim. The landlord after 2 months would be over £1200 out of pocked but my m8 and his mum would be over £1200 better off. Add benefits his family was over £2000pcm better off than a landlord and they didn t even work. So that makes benefit scroungers the true winners and landlords the losers?!
10 AnswersRenting & Real Estate5 years agoIn Medway Kent UK, how long does it take to change a Home Detention Curfew (HDC) address?
Basically I was hoodwinked by someone who was on tag to be a tenant in a house share and I had to arrange a swap with my lodger as any trouble a lodger has much less rights than a tenant. It's the time between someone requesting their solicitor to arrange a change in their registered HDC address to it being approved by cps so they can move.
Thanks,
Charles
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate5 years ago(UK Kent) If a written contract is signed does a verbal agreement to only have working people share a house with other tenants still apply?
The new tenant is 18 and looking for work and is currently in higher education. The existing tenant refuses to pay rent because he doesn t have a job and was found out after moving in to have been involved in petty theft a year go.
What s the existing tenants rights as far as not paying rent because they don t like their neighbour?!
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate5 years agoWhy is everything starting to look very sinister and evil around me?
Everywhere I go, things have started to look very different the last month or so. For example, the front window of my house looks like its screaming, the front and rear lights and edges of modern cars look evil and devilish, like they're glaring at me, the lights at work look the same and I just see anger, hate and monsterousness everywhere I look.
Now I know that they are man made, and are just pieces of glass, metal, plastic, etc, but they were designed and made by someone so am I now seeing things for how they were intended?
2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture5 years agoFor an old carburettor car, when coasting in gear, how much fuel is wasted, as doesn't the ignition fire regardless?
As the engine breaking in my 1986 fiesta 1.1 is quite significant in even top gear, so if the sparks are still firing and fuel is going in, the amount if fuel would be very low? Less than idling?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs5 years agoWhy is it every time someone sleeps in the front bedroom of my house they dream of being held down and smothered by a ghost?
That ruffles their duvet and wakes them up. But only for one night.
I didn't actually sleep in it until a few months back myself, having had several lodgers in it before and they all said the same thing and that if it happened again they would be leaving. And then I moved in and it happened to me the first night? Is this a ghost even though they are just dreams of the same thing?

I've seen a documentary on it from the past where a woman whose host needed to wear glasses full time but when she switched there were alters that didn't need them at all.
3 AnswersMental Health5 years agoWhy do old cars with a manual crank start (eventually) and yet trying to roll start a 1980's manual fiesta with a dead battery wont?
I'm assuming the old car's (like the Ford Model T) don't have a battery, or is it just that they don't have a starter motor? As there needs to be some juice in the battery to even roll start the mk2 fiesta!
