  • HP Bios White List?

I have a HP Pavillion G6 and I tried to upgrade my WLAN card. Little did I know that there is a White List in the BIOS so only approved HP products can be used. After getting the White List from HP I purchased an approved WLAN card and it is not recognized by my BIOS.

Of course HP won't update their BIOS with more current WLAN cards or by just eliminating the White List. Any way to hack the BIOS? Any generic BIOS out there?

  • Why does my wifi throughput speed slow when my laptop top is down?

I have a HP Pavillion G6 laptop which I use as a desktop with a separate mouse, keyboard and monitor. My WiFi internet throughput speed drops from 25 Mbps to 1 Mbps when I put the laptop lid down. My router connection speed stays the same and my power options are set to performance.

FYI, my backup Dell laptop does not have the same issue in the same room and the same distance away from the router. So it has to be The HP.

I do know that some HP antennas are in the monitor so I am thinking that when I shut the lid it might be pinching the antenna.

    Thoughts?

  • My WiFi internet throughput speed drops when my AC cord is plugged in.?

I have a Win 7 computer a D-Link router broadcasting on the N band and my WiFi internet throughput speed drops from 15 Mbps to 1 Mbps when I plug my AC power cord into the computer. Please note there is no drop with my connection speed to my router which varies from 120 to 150 Mbps.

The only thing I can think of is that my WiFi card is burning out. Any thoughts?

  • Window 7 Re-install Lost 390 GB's in Partition Space?

When I re-installed Win 7 on my HP laptop it only gave me 75 GBs (out of 465 GB's) after it reformatted the C partition. Do I need to get a partition manager to regain the lost space or do I need to do a complete drive format and then re-install Win 7 using the repair disk? Won't a reformat of the drive erase the recovery partition?

    Thanks.

  • Win 7 Hardware Driver Issue?

I have Win 7 64 bit OS. I have an old port replicator that only has a 32 bit driver. The audio and USB ports work fine. However, the serial port doesn't because the drivers are 32 bit for Win XP. I know I can easily run 32 bit software but I can't seem to run this piece of hardware with a 32 bit driver. Kensington isn't going to make a 64 bit driver (I asked) for this legacy piece of hardware. Is there a work around?
