  • Why do anti-gun legislators insist on banning items they continually demonstrate almost no knowledge about?

How is it morally okay for legislators to spend significant time and effort in trying to BAN an item for law-abiding citizens, when they continue to prove they have very little knowledge about what it is they're actually trying to take away?

Isn't it completely repugnant to the concept of actual justice and prudent law-making and governing?

Nevermind Diane Feinstein or Carolyn "Shoulder Thing That Goes Up" McCarthy this time.

Representative Diana DeGette of Colorado has been one of the leads on the state's magazine ban. Yet somehow, she doesn't fundamentally understand what a magazine is...

Here's her response to a question about how banning magazines from law-abiding citizens will reduce crime when many millions already exist:

“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.”

Even when her spokesperson had a chance to respond, it showed they don't know what a "clip" is either.

  • Can you help solve a Probability question (Binomials/Combinations, etc.)?

Please help with the following, and HOW you set it up and WHY...I'm not able to get it on my own and have a difficult time setting these problems up:

(the answer in the book is 0.027136)

Ignoring leap years and assuming that a person's birthday can fall on any day with equal likelihood, find the probability of two or more people having the same birthday among a group of five people.

  • Why don't people show the common courtesy of choosing a Best Answer after asking a question?

This is more gripe than question, but if people take the time to answer questions, why can't the asker take a couple minutes to show a slight amount of courtesy by at least saying 'Thanks' or awarding a Best Answer.

This is especially true for those completely inane questions that would take 30 seconds of Google searching and people STILL take time to answer, or for the people who spend the time and effort to answer multiple paragraphs of thorough information and don't even get a few seconds from the original poster to acknowledge their effort.

    Thanks for letting me complain!

  • What kind of sewing machine should my fiancée get?

She's a beginner; she hasn't really used one since 6th grade. She would like a fairly cheap one for less than $200. She doesn't need a lot of fancy stitches. She'd like one that she can use heavier materials through, as well, if desired (e.g., fleece, sweatshirts, quilts, etc.)
