  • How can I get my baby into a nap routine?

I've read so many articles on the matter yet still struggle, so thought I'd ask you experienced mums. My son is 5 and half months old. He wakes up around 7am normally and wants a nappy change and sometimes milk. He also appears to want to play so I may let him up for a few minutes but as soon as he yawns or rubs his eyes I put him back in his cot. He generally wakes up after half an hour and cries. I get him up and he still shows signs of being tired. I've tried leaving him to go back to sleep but he will generally just get himself wound up. I've considered that he is a cat napper, but I find by 4pm he is really overtired and then really struggles to go to sleep. He has a consistent bed time routine that I use before naps. I try to follow his signs (yawning, rubbing eyes, turning away) but I keep getting it wrong. What sort of nap time schedules do you have and how do you go about getting your baby down on time? Also how do you deal with going out? Do you fit them around baby's naps or let him nap on journey?

  • Weaning and reflux in 5 month old baby. Am I breast feeding too much?

I've been weaning my son for about two weeks now. When he was small he was a refluxy baby but as he got bigger it settled down and he rarely got it. I was weaning him apple, pear, baby rice, banana, rice cakes and he tried a little avocado. But yesterday we had a plumber in who was drilling. This disturbed his naps and he ended up going to bed really early and only having one short meal and just more breast feeds. Now today he is really refluxy. He keeps hiccuping, bringing up milk and arching his back. He hasn't eaten any solids again because I think he's too full. Am I breast feeding him too much? I always offer it to him before he goes down for a nap. How often should I offer him a breast feed? They say to offer milk first before offering solids but then he's too full.

  • My son is 5 months old, I want to try for another now. Are there any medical reasons not to?

I have endometriosis, which will progressively worsen my health and destroy my fertility, so I've decided to have my babies close together. I'm so full of love for my little boy and feel I could happily take on a second baby. But I'm concerned getting pregnant so soon will reduce the health of the new baby.

  • Why can't I lift my leg after a knee cap dislocation?

Two weeks ago I dislocated my knee cap after my dogs ran into me from the side (I wasn't paying attention). They put it back in A&E and gave me a splint and crutches.

At my follow up appointment the doctor asked me to to flex my foot up and then lift my leg, keeping it straight. I couldn't do it. So he sent me for an ultrasound to check the ligaments. The ligaments were intact according to the ultrasound. He sent me home and said to come back when the swelling had gone down so that he could re-examine it.

It's a week later and the swelling has gone down a lot, I can bend it slightly and can bare some weight on it. I have tried to lift it again but it still won't respond. I try and it ends up bending my knee rather than lifting my whole leg. It's like I'm telling it to do it but the message aint getting through!

Why can't I do this? Will I need surgery? I'm in the process of setting a business up so it would help to plan if I know the prognosis.

I also keep getting acute pain down the outer side of my knee following down the outside of my calf.

Is this the outer ligament and why does it hurt down my calf?

    Thanks

  • What do you look for in a dog trainer/classes?

What do you hope to gain from dog training classes?

I am setting up in my new location. Most dog trainers train just the dog, my ethos is to pass my knowledge and skills onto the owner so that they can train their dog under my guidance. I will be inlcuding 2 Powerpoint presentations for theory lessons, where I will be teaching the owner about canine behaviour and training. Would this entice you to sign up or make you turn away?

I would love to know what makes you sign up to classes and keep going?

    - Fun and games e.g agility and rally obedience

    - Informative

    - Obedience

    - Competing

I would very much appreciate any comments and your opinions :-)

  • Implantation bleeding and missed period but negative test, am I pregnant?

    - My last period was 42 days ago (30th Sept)

    - I last had intercourse 24 days ago (18th Oct)

    - 11 days after intercourse I got spotting and pinkish discharge which was on and off for 5 days.

    - I have irregular periods but an average of 36 days, ovulation calculator said 22nd (Oct)

    - Aside from the spotting I have had headaches, cramping and veiny boobs

    - My longest recorded cycle was 42 days which I am on today

    - All the hpt have been negative

    - I suffer endometriosis and normall get symptoms a week or more before my period - I have no symptoms at all

    - Breasts aren't sore at all, which I always get a week before my period

Baring this information in mind, could I be pregnant dispite the negative tests? I have booked in with the doctor for a blood test but am unsure if it will show up there either. I have heard of women who are pregnant for months before it is detected.

Any stories or advice would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

    xx

  • Implantation cramps and constipation?

I have recently been TTC. My periods are irregular (last two cycles were 39 and 42 days!) so its difficult to map out my cycle. However normally I get symptoms of ovulation around the day 14. This cycle I think I ovulated on 21st May and I had unprotected sex everday leading up to and past this day. 8 days later I had some really sharp stabs in my uterus area. Ovulation is normally on one side whereas this was in the centre. It was a throbbing pain and lasted a minute or two. Ever since I have had what feels like period cramps and I have become increasingly constipated, its too painful to push which I normally get on my period. Sometimes its too painful/uncomfortable to sit down. It is now 12 days from when I think I ovulated and I have had the cramps for 6 days. I have had no other symptoms. Took an early test but it was negative, so I assume the HGC hormone isn't high enough (if I am pg).

Does this sound like early pregnancy symptoms? I know all women are different but if any of you experienced this as well I'd love to know about it and also how to deal with the constipation and pain...
