  • Advice on research?

I'm stuck with a research point and I'm at the point of not knowing what if anything is my next move. The state of Oklahoma has no death record for this person, the funeral record is only his name and death and cause and location of burial, cemetery records is pretty much the same as the funeral record, no obit was published, all children of this person are dead with only one living long enough to produce heirs who have no clue who his parents are, no will was published he died a pauper for the most part.

My question is at what point should I give up on this man and live with the fact I will never locate his parents or am I missing something or another resource I should be focusing my attention towards.

  • question about Purple heart?

I have a question about the things that are on my great uncle headstone, I know that he was awarded these honors from the Korean War: Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

the question I have is that on his headstone there is also a PH and I'm wondering if this could mean "Purple Heart"

Uncle Woody was captured in North Korea and was eventually killed as a P.O.W. I'm just interesting in learning more about this

here is a picture of his headstone at the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii

I hoping one of you professional Genealogist can help with this one I'm only an amateur at best.

I have pulled the Marriage records for Lewis Randle and Margaret Mitchell from the courthouse in Troy,Miami,Ohio they were married 29 march 1846 Now we many the whole Mitchell family has no idea were they went as we can't find a birth date for Lewis . We do have a family bible that listed all of g,g,g grandpa's children but it doesn't have a birth for lewis randle Margaret Mitchell was born 23 may 1826 in Miami,Ohio possibly in Newberry. Now all of her fathers children followed him into HoneyCreek,Iowa by 1860 except Margaret and Lewis I have run across a Margaret Randle in Dodge,Wisconsin and we know that one of her sisters husbands died in Dodge, wisconsin but I just don't know tell me what is the best way to figure this out and were I should go to find these records. Or if you can figure it out.any help is greatly appreciated.
