I'm trying to make a website aimed towards a specific region of the country, where locals can search for automotive shops, locate cars, and search for automotive parts.

I'm trying to build a few comparison pages, the most important of which is a web scraper to get current prices from various websites using user input data from a form (E.G. a thermostat for a specific vehicle, the user will select year, make, and model from a dropdown list, then select thermostat and a page shows up with the price [$X.XX from 15 sellers] type of tool). I've done some research and can't find a suitable program to do this thus far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1986 Buick LeSabre with the 3800 V6, and the transmission is starting to go. Slipping in second gear, third gear is very rough like the friction discs are catching and slipping, nearly have to floor the throttle to get it to go. Instructors at school all agreed that my friction discs are going, and should rebuild/replace my transmission.

My Buick has an RPO code of ME9, meaning it came stock with the TH440-T4 transmission. If I were to find a transmission online or from a junkyard from a same-era vehicle, 3800, but the transmission was a 4T60-E:

Would it bolt up to the block?

Would I be able to reuse my stock torque converter?

Are the connectors to the PCM any different, or would they be the same?

Will my CV axles fit the new transmission (are the spline counts the same?)

Will it be a plug-and-play type deal, or will there be modification to the trans mounts needed?

I definitely appreciate any help, 5 stars to the best answer.

PLEASE do not recommend I take the car to a transmission shop, as the cost of R&Ring a transmission would run about $2,200, and for that price, I could just buy another LeSabre or newer vehicle. I'm comfortable with removing engines and swapping transmissions, just not sure if a 4t60 will be a direct fit. Thank you.

I'm currently unemployed, trying to find a job but can't find anything in my field of work that works with my school schedule. I have a passion for cars - not so much making them fast or modifying them, but rather, how they work. I have a good understanding of the majority of the systems on cars, from brakes and suspension to remote door locks and computer systems.

I'm currently making a website about cars, called Everything Auto, hosted on byethost free. I'm looking for a category style script, almost like a blog. I've tried Wordpress, but byethost free won't allow me to edit permissions for users in sql, so customizing my own Wordpress theme won't work. I want something where I can post new stories and they show up on the homepage, and have thumbnails linking to recently updated or featured pages.

I've tried making the thumbnails myself, but each time I update my website and want to post a new link, I have to take the table cell from the far right and copy the html to the first cell in the next row, and then make a new cell at the far left of the first row. (sorry, my explanation is kind of vague). The website look I'm trying to acheive is something like this: www.jugglechainsaws.com (built using wordpress, I assume). Are there any dhtml or php scripts which can give me similar results?

I've got a 1991 pontiac grand prix with the 3.1L engine and a 4T60-E transmission. I'm thinking of a winter project involving this engine, but I'd prefer a rear wheel drive vehicle (and a mid-mounted engine isn't too appealing to me). Is the bolt pattern on a 4t60-e transmission the same as that of a 4L60? I know some 90-92 camaro's came stock with the 3.1L engine and they were rear wheel drive, but I'm not sure if the engines are the same series (3.1L versus 3100 series) and if they used the same bolt pattern. Any info is appreciated - thanks!

How can I make an old garage door opener motor run on household current, 120v AC? It has 4 wires, white/black (120v + and -) and two wires going to the start-up cap. I'm trying to eliminate the start-up cap, or even try to find a diagram for including the cap in my project. The only way i can get the motor to work is to hook it back up to the circuitry and use the pushbutton open from the garage door opener to make it turn, to simulate opening the door. Any ideas/suggestions/VISUALS? diagrams are nice.

P.S. my project is to try and build a metal cutting lathe, along the lines of a Gingery-style one.

The motor is an A.O. Smith, model 322P784A.

1/2HP, 1500rpm, 60Hz, single phase

120V, 5.0A, and it also says "hrs int" in the specs on the label.

Also, a little further down, it says "58MFD/250V <----------ROT-----------> which leads me to believe it's a CW/CCW motor.

It has, like i said, 4 wires coming out of it. whenever i hook the positive and negative up to household current, it just blows a fuse/pops a circuit. (socket style fuses are not cheap, i've gone through $10 in them tonight alone *sad face*)

I bought a Hobart Handler 125 from my friend, after he was having some problems with it. The gun liner kept popping out of the welder, and instead of trimming the gun liner down to relieve pressure on it inside the hose, he sliced the hose all the way from the gun to the welder. Now I am looking to replace either the rubber shielding hose OR the entire assembly, including the gun liner, gas tubing, trigger wires, and the power lead, along with the gun itself and the nozzle/tip holder. What is the name of this entire assembly, so I can find it online? I've searched for hours and I have no idea.

I've got two aluminum blocks, both are approx 1" x 8" x 12". nothing too fancy, and not too thick. anyone have ideas of what I could make out of them? i.e. a miniature engine for rc cars, boats, or something? maybe make a lightweight flywheel? shoot me some ideas, i'll try to make the best idea work, and post pictures/videos when i'm finished. :)

I'm rebuilding an engine, and as part of the rebuilding process, much cleaning of rusted parts is taking place in my garage using electrolysis. I'm using a car battery charger as a power source, 12 volts/15 amps current going constantly to rusted parts in a water/baking soda solution. During the cleaning process, hydrogen gas bubbles are given off. I'm wondering several things:

Is there an economical, inexpensive way to capture this hydrogen gas before it bonds to other elements in the air, then move it to a container where I can store it (possibly even under pressure) for later use?

Is this process legal without first obtaining special permits/licenses?

Is this process safe?

Of course, during the entirety of my cleaning process, there won't be too much gas given off; hardly enough to bother trying to save it, anyways. However, if there is a way to do this legally and safely, i'd gladly start doing it for my other project, a homemade crucible furnace, using the hydrogen as fuel.

is a 1995 chrysler lebaron 3.0L SOHC obd1 or 2? thanks

Several questions. the first is, there's some very small rust pits on the inside of the third and fourth cylinders, maybe .005 or .007 deep. they're deep enough to feel, but honing didn't take care of them. if i got a .020 bore and a hone, can i still use the stock pistons and rings? (ones that are coming with the rebuild kit, of course, not going to reuse the old ones ^_^.)

Also, looking at doing a roller cam conversion. What all goes into that? I'm aware of the new cam and roller lifters, but would I have to do anything on the top end, I.E. new/different valve springs, pushrods, etc?

and one last question, any idea how much an acid bath costs? the engine is a bit dirty and the last guy to have the engine used water as coolant (engine came from a demo car), and i need to clean out the coolant journals. Also a deck mill to level the deck out, and probably a mill on the bottom side of the heads as well to keep it level.

Above and beyond normal shop tools, what special tools will I need to completely tear apart and rebuild an engine? I'll be starting with an easy(ier) engine, as a learning experience, a Chevy 350 Small Block. From those who have experience in engine/shop work, what specialty tools will I need?

Tools I currently have are the standard shop tools, socket sets (deep well and regular, SAE and Metric), 2 sets of open end/box wrenches (metric and SAE), torque wrench, impact driver, screwdrivers, hex wrenches, torx wrenches, nut drivers, etc.

What other tools will I need, and how much will I be looking to spend for a decent set? Thanks

I wore a condom. i made sure it didn't break, and i was paranoid so i even looked at the condom (and checked it carefully) afterward and there were no holes, it was in tact 100%. I'm just really paranoid, I don't want a kid just yet. My girlfriend says that for the last week, she's had to pee a lot, but when she gets to the bathroom, she doesn't really have to pee. Is this just something with her body, or is there a chance she's pregnant? (We had sex like a week ago, so i doubt the urination thing is from a pregnancy, this early). I am 18 years old. One of my friends is 15, and she wanted to get physical in a relationship with me. We didn't have sex, but there was physical contact underneath the clothes. here's the details of my case right now...

she asked me to touch her underneath her clothes.

I told her multiple times if she was uncomfortable to ask me to stop.

She told me she was okay with everything I did.

after we "had our fun". she asked if we were going out. I told her i didn't want a girlfriend, and it wouldn't be a good idea for us to go out.

Since i said no, she decided to turn me into the police. I'm not sure what i'm facing right now, i told the school liaison officer that I will not talk to him without an attorney present.

I have no prior criminal record, and no record of abuse or sexual assault towards women. What should I expect (if i go to court) as a punishment for this? will the fact that she consented make any difference in my case?

Well, I'll begin with my age. I'm 17 years old, and do not currently own a Driver's permit or a Driver's License. My parents won't let me take Driver's Education due in large part to my low grades - apparently I'm "too irresponsible" to drive a car safely. I turn 18 in pretty much one month (October 9th), and will be able to take driver's education starting November. I'm wondering how this will work though...

The Wisconsin DMV Website says that after an 18 year old has completed driver's education, he/she must only have their temps (driver's permit) for 7 days before taking the driving exam. During this time, (the 7 days), must I have an adult or legal guardian accompany me in the car as I drive? Also, will I have restrictions on when I can drive and how many people can be in the vehicle with me?
