I've been around computers since 1986, when I bought my very first PC. That does not make me an expert in any way, but I do know that I have a true "love" for computers in all it's forms and applications. I started in the days of "Floppy's" and 10Mb harddrives, before the humble mouse appeared on the scene. I'm still here and if I can share whatever I know with anybody in any way, it will be like re-paying for the many years of joy it gave me. I'm a full-time Graphic Artist and Photographer and most of my "expertise" will be in these fields. My love for computers, however, goes way deeper than that and I'm still looking forward to learn new things every day. Apart from that I suppose we all learn little things about life during our walk through it... If we all share this knowledge, maybe we can help someone who really needs it.

  • Why doesn't my friend's E-Mails send???

    I have a friend visiting from Ireland (I'm in South Africa) who using a temporary wireless internet connection here (Vodacom SA). He receives all his e-mails but sending is a problem. He uses outlook 2003. Sometimes the mails go through and sometimes it does not. When it does not go through it returns with the following error message:

    From: System Administrator

    Sent: 25 August 2008 4:18

    To: **************

    Subject: Undeliverable:

    Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

    Subject:

    Sent: 25/08/2008 16:18

    The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

    '****@telkomsa.net' on 25/08/2008 16:18

    553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)

    (I added the stars for security reasons)

    Can anybody help?

    PS Apparently he had the same problem when roaming in Portugal

  • Objective Poll on operating systems?

    The argument over which operating system is the best, is almost as old as computing itself. Windows (XP, Vista), Linux, Mac..?

    Supporters of a particular OS tend to overdo their arguments to the point of being insulting.

    Why can't we discuss it objectively and calm and agree to disagree? Maybe we will realize that we all love computing (be it for gaming, programming, working or whatever) and not get onto each others case in an abusive manner.

    Any support on this viewpoint?
