My 1999 kia sephia simply stopped running. Started, drove about 50 feet, then died. Acted like a broken timing belt (cranks but will not start) but confirmed timing belt is fine. I'm getting spark. Fuel pump is getting power but not turning on. This is a new fuel pump. I thought it was the initial problem but apparently not. What am I missing?

I looked into the hood latch and found the contact came loose and both pigtail wires were exposed. I disconnected the sensor from the wire harness and attempted to "bridge" it together (since the sensor appears to be a simple open or closed circuit) but the "open" indicator light is still on.
My question is this... Is replacing the sensor switch the only way to fix this issue? Since closing the circuit with the bridge didn't work, are there other sensors for the hood? I'd hate to spend the money on the sensor or the sensor/latch combo and find out it's not the only issue.

Battery (idiot) light is intermittently coming on. Cleaned and tightened terminals, changed serpentine belt, I even put a multimeter on the battery while the car was running. Consistently getting 13.5 - 13.75 volts no matter what rpm. The car isn't showing any of the classic "bad alternator" symptoms. No flickering lights, no dim dash lights, etc... Any suggestions before I spend money on an alternator?
