Hogged mane difficulties!?
I recently got a horse and he was previously hogged in his own home. His forelock has grown back, and I'd like to grow out his mane. How long roughly would it take? It'll stick up for a bit, but will it eventually turn normal again? (:
And Merry Christmas! Hope you all have a wonderful time!
5 AnswersHorses9 years agoThis will sound so stupid, but I want to know what you think?
As the title says... this is gonna sound stupid!
I broke up with my bf ages ago... about a year ago... but tbh, it was sort of because of my friends pressuring me to do so. I was younger, and I don't know why the hell I did it. I cried when I did it, and have really liked him ever since. It's been a sort of on off flirting thing for a while, before I moved. He got a new girlfriend, and broke up with her, then when I started talking to him again, he blocked me on EVERYTHING because he got the idea that Iliked him. (i think that's a little far..)
I know that the majority of you are thinking I should move on, get used to it, my fault for splitting up with him etc. but I just want to know if there's anything I could say to him to become friends again. Even though I really want more, then friendship is enough, because we always used to have such a good laugh, and talk about everything. Is there anything I can do? :/
Sorry for sounding like such a moany *****! Need it out my system :P
Thanks <3 xx
1 AnswerOther - Family & Relationships10 years agoLooking for a brand of jodhpurs!?
This is kinda a long shot, but I have a pair of jodhpurs which i LOVE, but I don't know what brand they are! The ones I have are plain black, with two red lines around the waistline inside and they have quite a short leg. I love them and really want another pair as they're wearing out! D:
Also, does anyone know of any good, comfortable jodhpurs, with a looser leg, that are shorter than longer?
Thank-you! I will actually love anyone that knows the brand of my ones! :D x

5 AnswersHorses10 years agoLunging with a bridle on?
How do you attach a lunge line to a bridle, not using a cavesson? Is it through one side of the bit, up over the back of the ears, down the other side, and clipped onto that side of the bit?
Tahh!
6 AnswersHorses10 years agoA couple of horse questions...?
Hi there, I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions? (:
1. What problems can arise when feeding a horse in the field? How can they be improved or avoided? (with other horses in the field I mean)
2. What's the difference between straight feeds and compound feeds? Does compound feeds just mean it's like a mix of feeds? And straight is like, on its own - not mixed with anything?
Thanks in advance! (: xxx
3 AnswersHorses10 years agoHorses living out from being in?
If you have a horse that usually lives in a stable through the night, can you then change to them living out? Would you have to put on an under blanket or something? How can they be introduced to living out full time?
thanks (:
4 AnswersHorses10 years agoKnow of Scottish horse places?
For people in the UK, do any of you know of horse places in scotland? I know of RD sports horses/turlood stables, but am looking for something a bit further up...
Anyone know of one? :/
Thanks (:
3 AnswersHorses10 years agoProblems with leading a horse...?
I met this horse who refuses to be lead! He's perfect with getting the headcollar on, and accepts it wonderfully, but as soon as you step forward when the leadrope is attached, he'll be set in stone! He stands stubbornly and puts his head as high as he can, and won't take a single step!
Any advice on how to get him to be lead would be wonderful!!!
Thank-you!!! (: xx
10 AnswersHorses10 years agoWhat to do about a Lonely guinea pig?
I have an older guinea pig, who is now on her own. She seems a bit lonely, but would it be possible to introduce a young one? Would there be problems? It'd have to be a female, as mine is an unneutered female, is that a compatible mix? I've looked into rehoming, but there aren't piggies in my area, so I'd have to get a younger one from pets at home.
Thoughts would be appreciated (:
Thank-you!

3 AnswersHorses10 years agoKnow of any stretching exercises for riding?
Does anyone know of any exercises/stretches that I can do that would make me more flexible for mounting taller horses? Descriptions or links will be appreciated!
Thanks! x
4 AnswersHorses10 years agoProblems with cantering?
I know it isn't the horse's fault, it's my own. I always have difficulty getting into canter, as in changing from trot to canter. I put my outside leg back a little and ask for it, but it never seems to work very well, causing it to be an awful transition! What could I be doing wrong? Am I not asking the horse enough? Any tips on how to do it? :/
Thank-you! x
7 AnswersHorses10 years agoGood birthday cake ideas?!?
It's my dogs 3rd birthday in about a week, and I'm gonna make him a little cake. I was thinking to make just a plain sponge without sugar, and put cream cheese on top with treats to decorate it.
What do you think?
Any ideas on how to make it more interesting, or frosting ideas, or a cake recipe without much sugar?
Thanks in advance! (: xxxx
8 AnswersDogs10 years agoWhat to do for a whiter look?
Hi there!
I'm curious, when you have a horse with white on its face, like a stripe or blaze, for shows how do you make it look whiter? I don't have a horse with this, it's just for the future! (:
Tips are much appreciated! :D x
9 AnswersHorses10 years agoWhats it mean if a horse is pushy?
I'm just curious, as I've known quite a few ponies/horses at my stable and that that are pushy. When I say pushy, I mean like... they nudge quite roughly with their head... if you know what I mean?
Why is it they do this? Is it a dominance thing or what?
Thank-you! ((: x
8 AnswersHorses10 years agoAny good show names!?
There's a horse I'm looking at, that may be up for sale soon, so might consider getting. I was wondering if anyone has any good show names? It'd just be little local shows, possibly jumping in the future. Its fine if not, just a bit of fun to see what you come up with! :P
His name is Leo, he's about 15.1ish, dark bay with a white stripe and a (very cute!) pink nose. He's a cob-type horse.
If you need anymore info, please just ask! (: Thank-you!
7 AnswersHorses10 years agoOpinions on the bitless bridle?
I used one once before and it was really good. I might be getting a horse soonish, and was considering (if I got him) to get him a bitless bridle.
Does anyone else use one? If so, whats your opinion on them? Would you go back to using a bit? Is there just the same amount of control?
They seem much kinder, so I think I'd like to, if they were just as good! (oh, and the horse i'm looking at is in a snaffle, he doesn't pull)
Thanks! (:
7 AnswersHorses10 years agoProblems with getting older horses back into work!?
I viewed a horse the other day, she was a lovely ride and I'll be going back to see her again this week.
She's 17, but she's been out of work for about 12 months. She's a little overweight, but was only a bit warm after me walking and trotting around the field for a while. Because of being out of work, I would need to get her back into fitness if things were to go well, and I was to buy her.
Someone told me I shouldn't go for her, because getting her fit again could cause problems. Is this true? What sorts of problems could it cause, and how could I prevent them? There's pictures of her jumping in her passport, but I was told by the same person that she probably wouldn't jump again. Do you think this is true also? I would bring her back to work slowly, so I wouldn't strain her, and it'd be a while before we jumped, but is it possible to jump again? Lastly, if I was to buy her, does anyone have advice on how to go about getting back into fitness? I pretty much know how, but little hints and tips would be appreciated!
Thanks a lot in advance! (: x
7 AnswersHorses10 years agomy horse refuses to have her bridle on and is terrified of the mounting block!?
My horse will be standing happily tied up, but the second she even sees the bridle she pulls back on the rope as much as possible and tries to get away. She wasn't always like this, but has had a while out of work, and now coming back into it, she's started doing it. Any advice on how to get her out of this habit?
Also, she has a fear of the mounting block. She's not really used to it, so as soon as someone is on it, ready to mount, she'll rear up and make a huge fuss. Does anyone know why this might be? Is it like a threat for the person to be taller? How can I slowly introduce a mounting block? She can be mounted from the ground, but, as she's getting older, I'd rather not put too much strain on her back.
If anyone could help with either of these, it'd be great! Even if it's something you've heard, anything would be good!
