  • Why wont my truck start without popping the clutch?

I have a 99 Chevy s10. I have had the starter, alternator and battery replaced fairly recently. Now my truck is not starting. It was kind of hit and miss for a while. I could pop the clutch and it would run and start fine for a while. Before long the ability to start on it's own lessened each time. Now it wont start and I haven't tried to move it lately so I don't know if it will start cranking fine again after I run it for a while or not.

I thought it was pretty weird that the longer I drove it the higher number of times I could crank it again before I have the problem. It holds a charge while it is running and the electronics all work fine. The air blows and the radio plays etc. with the car in the on position. This tells me that the battery and alternator are fine. I want to say that something is wrong with the solenoid or the starter itself, but how can that be if I just got a new part put in 20 months ago? Would they have replaced the starter and kept the old solenoid?

  • What is the orange and white wire pair for in a 1999 Chevy S-10?

I have been having ignition troubles with my Chevy s-10. I have taken apart most of the front console and have not found anything out of the ordinary except for this wire pair. I am in the process of tracking down my lost Chilton's guide, with the electrical diagrams, so I figured I would ask here first. The wires in question come off of a cluster that also runs into the light toggle switches and the fuse box wires. The main cluster splits into three branches, one of which is just an orange and white wire. I found these wires hanging loose and needed to know if they were related to the ignition in any way. I have also had indication and odometer problems recently and thought this might be the cause to that as well. I hope someone knows enough about truck wiring to know what I am trying to describe here.

    Thanks!

  • Where can I find sample letters?

I need to write a letter of atonement to accompany my waiver paperwork in an attempt to enlist in the Army. Is there some place I can view samples of what might be good to write in a letter of this sort?

  • Why does the instrument panel on my 99 Chevy s10 display incorrectly?

Ever since I towed a trailer from GA to MN and back my instrument panel has acted funny. The gauges seem to work alright, except the speedometer reads slow. The odometer and trip odometer have stopped reporting. The indicator lights around the panel work fine except for 3 that are located above each other, the driver side seat belt, brights indicator, and the one below it (not coming to mind) remain on constantly. The gas guage only registers the correct level when the vehicle is started, it never moves while I am driving, no matter the distance.

I have tried replacing fuses and wiring I had done myself years before, but none of that had any effect. I am guessing that there is a short somewhere in the system, but how would I go about locating the source of this? Do I need to take the panel off and test every wire going into it?
