  • Convincing my parents to let me get snakebites?!?

I am turning 18 in just two months, but prom and an amazing concert are between now and then, and I really want to get snakebites. If I get them this weekend or within the next couple weeks, I can change the jewelry in time for graduation to clear retainers or blue studs (school colors blue and gold). My dad has told me that he doesn't believe in facial piercing but that he will have nothing to do with it if I choose to get it done, and that if i could somehow work something out with my mom, he wasn't going to stop me. How do I convince my mom to let me get this done? She has told me before that once I turn 18 I could get whatever piercings I wanted as long as she wasn't responsible for them. I'm going to be 18 in two months and I want this as an early birthday present. How do I convince my mom to let me get it?

  • What works better on diaper rash?

Vaseline or triple paste? My baby's pediatrician said to use one of these, we've had better luck with the vaseline, but in your experience what works better on bad diaper rash?

  • How long does an episiotomy take to heal?

I had my baby on Saturday! Thanks to all the people on here that have answered my questions throughout my pregnancy. I have a few pretty bad tears and I had an episiotomy, and I was wondering how long it usually takes to heal. The information at the hospital said 4-6 weeks, but can it heal before then?

  • What kinds of teas can help induce labor naturally?

I'm 40 weeks 1 day pregnant, due to be induced on monday and i'm wondering what kinds of teas old wives tales say will induce labor. I don't want people telling me things about inducing labor being bad or anything like that, I've heard about all of it. I'm just through with being pregnant. Also, where can I get the teas that can help induce labor?

  • Is it okay to breastfeed?

I am on a few medications that my doctors will not take me off of. Xanax XR, Prozac, and Abilify. I am on relatively low doses of all of these medications, but my question is if it is ok to breastfeed my son. I was told that it is okay to be pregnant while taking these medications but they didn't say anything about breastfeeding.

  • How long after you had your baby did you fit into old clothes?

My due date is Monday and the doctors are going to induce me if I don't have the baby by then because he's a week ahead in growth and they think they may have gotten the due date off or something like that. I am looking forward to seeing my little baby boy and I'm wondering how long it should be before I fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes. I was overweight before pregnancy and I've only gained about 17 lbs and I'm 39 weeks. How long should it be before I get to wear old clothes that don't say maternity on the tag?

  • The doctors may have to induce?

My doctors are talking about how I haven't changed in the last week as far as dilation or anything like that. Also, my due date is next week but the baby is a week ahead in growth so they said that if I don't have the baby by my due date, which is Monday, that they're going to have to induce me. Any advice on how to speed this up so they don't have to would be great. Also, to anyone that has been induced and has GOOD stories that don't end in c-section, please share!

  • How long do contractions take to get to active labor?

I've had really bad contractions since Saturday morning, 2:30 am and now its wednesday at 9:00 am. That's more than 4 days straight of contractions and during that time I've only dilated to 2 cm. I'm also nearly fully effaced. I was checked yesterday for dilation, and they said 2 cm, but I've had lots of contractions since then and it might be farther now, but they're not bad enough to go to the hospital again. My question is is this normal or should I be worried? Also, how long can it take for me to get to active labor from here? I'm 38 weeks 2 days pregnant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

  • How fast does labor progress at 2cm dilation on average?

I am currently 2 cm dialated and nearly fully effaced. I've lost my mucous plug and I'm having strong and regular contractions. These contractions knock the wind out of me so I know they're real ones and not Braxton Hicks, I've been told by my doctor that I'm in early labor and that its just a waiting game until I get strong enough contractions to be concerned. I was checked this morning and I've dialated 1 cm in a little over 1 day, but I know it gets stronger after this and I'm not sure how long it will take for me to get to the 3 cm needed to be admitted to the hospital and be in active labor. Any advice on how to speed it up or how long it usually takes would be great. Thanks in advance!!

  • How long does early labor generally take?

I talked to my doctor yesterday because I was in the hospital with contractions, she said I am in early labor and about 1.5 cm dialated and nearly fully effaced, the problem is I hadn't changed much from the night before and although I am still having contractions they're not too bad. Is there anything I can do to speed it up and how long does this stage of labor generally take because I'm sick of the contractions every 5 minutes. They seem to be getting stronger over time but not strong enough to merit me going back to the hospital.

  • I am in early stages of labor according to my doctor, how long should this take?

According to my doctor, I am 1.5 cm dialated and almost fully effaced. The baby is in the right position for birth and every time they check i get a tiny bit farther but not much. How long should it take for me to progress to 2 cm, on average, and anything I can do at home to speed this up, such as walking or something because I heard that speeds things up due to gravity and I've tried it to no avail. Thanks for the help!

  • Which should I use as my college essay guideline?

I am applying for a vet tech school and they gave me two conflicting guidelines as far as how long the essay should be. One part said one and a half to two typed pages, and the other said approximately 500 words, but that was in parenthases as if it wasn't as important. Which should I use?
