  • Should I date a woman who is older than me and has 2 kids?

I met a woman who is very attractive, smart, funny, and over time has gotten to know me well. I really like how I feel when I'm with her and enjoy the deep conversations we have. We function well as a team and I really care about her. What complicates this issue is that she is 10 years older than me, divorced, and has two kids.

I'm in my mid/late 20s which forces the issue of I may never have the chance to have my own child with her due to her age. If I did, it would have to be soon which is something I don't feel ready for. I feel like I'm supposed to progress through the cycles of 1) finding a girl 2) dating 3) moving in together 4) getting a dog together 5) getting married / starting a family. I feel like dating someone who's been through this all skips these things and places me at the part where I have kids. I can't tell if what is the norm isn't always right. I struggle with this because I really like her and how she makes me feel. She wants to ease into dealing with her kids until after we're very secure, but to me it just seems like a massive sacrific and that I must be crazy to even entertain the thought. I worry how others close to me in my life would judge me and that I would waste hers and my time trying this out if I ultimately decided that it isn't for me.

Is there something bigger that I'm missing? Am I crazy for entertaining the idea of dating this person who is older than me with children? Curious what you all think. Thanks

  • Did I make a career/life mistake?

I started working at my company right out of college. I moved 1500 miles for it. It's been about a year and at first it was good, but for the last few months I've been rather unhappy at work. A friend got me a new job at a company doing something that looks much more interesting and promising and is closer to home which I decided to take.

Problem is, I love living here outside work. I've made some good friends and I like the city. Of course, the last 2-3 weeks before I move, Ive been meeting more friends and a girl I could see myself dating. So now Im reluctant to leave although it's in full swing.

Now I'm doubting my decision thinking I jumped the gun and didn't try to stick with this job longer. Should I have decided to leave?

  • Should I take a job half way across the country?

I just graduated College and as some of you probably know, getting a job with no experience is almost impossible. My internship was with a good company, but it was 1,500 miles away from everything I've ever known. I'm nervous to leave my friends and family for a job. It's a good job, but it also feels like I've traded my life for a paycheck. And I can't help but feel like no matter what the job is, eventually I will find enough things to not like about it. I know my friends won't pay the bills, but I could try to stay back and keep looking for something. If anyone has experience with moving far away after college for work, I've love to hear some first hand advice. Thanks

  • Has anyone ever moved away after college?

I have the opportunity to work as an engineer for an aviation company in Texas after graduation. Being from the East coast, this is a big move for me. I have a fear that I will get there with no friends or family and struggle to make relationships like I have in college or high school. Has anyone ever left everyone behind and moved far away? Can you share your experiences? How did you meet people, was it worth the move, things like that. Thank you all

  • Which path is better as a Mechanical Engineer?

I have the chance to work for an HVAC company in Manhattan and as an R&D Engineer for a Helicopter company in Texas. These seem to be the two paths a mechanical engineer can take. Does anyone have experience in these fields that can give some insight on which path is more interesting to work for? Thanks

  • how soon after accepting an internship offer do most companies drug test?

I am going to accept an internship offer, but I am concerned about the hair sample drug test. I haven't smoked in 2 months but I hear most test date back 90 days. Do most companies wait until much closer to the start date to test or very soon after accepting their offer?

  • Drug Test for internships?

I recently received an offer letter from a company for an internship over the summer. I haven't accepted it yet. I'm worried about the drug test. I am not a frequent smoker and I haven't smoked for two months. The last time I smoked I did not smoke that much either. I heard this company does a hair test however. I'm going to try to stall on the acceptance for another month. I just trimmed my hair to 3/8th as well.

My questions are how long do companies usually wait after an offer has been accepted to drug test? Also If I can stall another 2 weeks do you think I'll be okay?

    Thanks

  • How to get the girl and not look needy?

Let me give you the play by play.

I met this girl I'm really attracted to at a small party at my friends house. We talked for most of the time we were there. I got her number and we talked a little more then we both left. I was going to wait a day and text her, BUT she texted me at exactly 1pm the next day (Has to be a good sign).

I answered back in about 10 mins... she waited 3 hours to answer. I waited 30 mins. Then our texts were about an hour apart. (I was just matching her time frame) which I found a little odd. The texts weren't one liners tho. they had depth and emoticons lol.

She's working at home for the summer while I'm working around school stayin at my house. She comes up during the week when she's off. So I told her that the next time she was back at school to let me know and that we should definitely hang out. She said yea I'll def let you know when I'm back. I slept on it and texted back around noon yesterday (which was the next day of this story) saying basically, Ok sounds good, don't work too hard. Which I sorta regret doing now since she hasn't responded since then.

I keep saying that if I make this a big deal I'm gunna **** it up and to just be patient. Harder said than done tho. I feel like there's something I should be doing, but anything else is just gunna be needy right? I can be pretty impatient, especially if it's something I really want.

What do you think? You think she's being serious when she says she's gunna let me know when she's up? And should I text her in a couple of days if she doesn't answer back? THANKS

  • Would this cause a late period?

My girlfriend's period is just over a week late now and I'm starting to get concerned. We always use condoms when we have sex and we've been fine for months now. Earlier this month she had gotten an infection in her tonsil and they drained it and gave her antibiotics. She got off the antibiotics about a week ago and her tonsil swelled back up and she is back at the doctor and waiting to see a specialist. Could this have to do with why her period is so late. She has all the signs for getting her period; small acne breakouts, fuller breasts(not swollen and really soar) but there is nothing yet. We're going to wait a few more days and if nothing then we will have to get a test. I'm trying not to panic, but should I be?

  • How far do you think my car will make it?

I'm fairly positive my alternator is gone, I just got a new battery and while i was driving my engine shut off and the car wouldn't start again. I left it on the side of the road and in the morning it started and I was able to drive it back home. I need to get it to my mechanic who's about 5 miles away. Do you think I can make it or should I have the car towed? I'd say that on the brand new battery I made it about 10 miles before it died and in the morning I made it about 3 miles back to my house where it's been sitting for a day.

  • What would cause my car's engine to just stop working while driving?

My car was having a problem starting. I jump started it and it turned over. I killed the engine and started it again without the jump. It started then when I gave the engine some gas the engine just shut off. after that the car wouldn't start with a jump start. I let it sit over night and tried jumping it again. It started again and I decided to go buy a new battery. I replaced the battery and the car started up 4-5 times really well and I assumed it was ok. I made it to my friends house fine and on the way home I felt like I was getting no power out of the car. I gave it more gas and the speedometer kept falling. It didn't sputter or jerk it just slowly died and i lost my power steering as i yanked the wheel to the side of the road. The lights worked and all the electronics in the car were good, but the car wouldn't start. It came very close to turning over but never did. I tried to jump it again and it didn't start again. What could be the issue with my car?

  • Why won't my car turn over?

My battery was really weak and so i jump started it and it turned over and ran fine. I let it run to try and charge the battery for a while. I killed the engine then started it back up with no jump start. The car started and i gave it gas and then the engine just cut out. I tried to jump start the car again and it wouldn't turn over. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Math question, Can anyone find the maximum given the following...?

I have 3 variables and 3 equations and i need to find out what each variable is. I keep messing up somewhere and really could use a hand. the equations are as follows:

    AX^2+BX+C

    A(5)^2 + B(5) + C = 235

    A(15)^2 + B(15) + C = 265

    A(20)^2 + B(20) + C = 55

There is a way to solve for the variables and cancel them out and get a long algebraic equation all in terms of 1 variable but I keep messing it up. If someone could please tell me how to do this i would save me a headache. Thanks alot

  • Chicago Bears fans: What is in store next season?

I realize that no one has a single question about Da Bears. Well i'm opening up a discussion. What is going to happen next season. I for one was not one of those people who thought Cutler was going to make the whole team play better. Nor did I predict losing our linebackers. However, I did think we would be competitive. After the first game against Green Bay I was worried until we beat the steelers the following week. I thought we made a statement up until we came out of our bye week. The wheels completely fell off and I was outright disgusted. Then the last 2 games showed some potential. Cuter 8 tds 1 pick and a Defense that did a decent job. Is there more of that to come? especially when we get Urlacher (and I hope we also resign Tino) back? I feel like with a new OC and a new DC (I am not a fan of the Tampa-2 Lovie loves so much) we can compete.

I think we need to be extremely active in the free agency pool (considering we gave up our second pick for GAINS ADAMS??? com'on). We have a seriously gaping hole at O-line and a 3rd round pick won't fix that. Devin Aromashadu was a complete stud when he was on the field, but i hope that doesn't give our frugal owners an excuse to not pursue a big name talent. Also, Safety has been an issue ever since mike brown was unable to stay healthy. The bears have let some solid players slip though. Brown did pretty well on KC this year, and Mcgowan was decent for the Pats. I do however like Manning's athleticism at free safety but he lacks in play recognition. Al Afalava has actually been decent and is an outstanding tackler.

I also think Hester needs to just go back to returning punts and switch in and out of slot. He was decent but i'd rather him step down and let a more solid player take over and give a chance to see what Juaquin Iglesias can do.

On defense I think we have enough at DE with or without Wale (even though I love that guy he is getting old). DT is another story. Tommie Harris is too inconsistent. If we explore the free agent pool for an above average DT to help him I think the defense would respond nicely. It seems like the Defense plays much better if Tommie is causing pressure. I for one would be thrilled if Wilfork ended up on Chicago since he is going to be a free agent. That would be a seriously scary front. LB is solid, no complaints only that they should probably draft some youth there. I already covered safety.

I think with the right coaching and plays tailored to him, Cutler will be much better next year. After finding out Forte played the season with an MCL injury and getting Jones back next year, I feel a little better with our running game (given we get a better O-line).

Well, I just felt like venting a little and wanted to see if any other fans had some input on the situation.

  • can someone explain this physics problem to me?

A football is kicked from ground level with a velocity of 20 m/s at some unknown angle above the horizontal. The football barely clears the 3-m tall goalposts and the team scores! What is the speed of the football as it clears the goalposts? Disregard air resistance and assume the ground is level.
