  • Can I rub Minwax Polyshades over my existing worn out kitchen cabinets?

I have no idea what the original top coat is - lacquer or shellac or polyurethane or ..., but some areas are dull and need a sprucing up. I thought if I could put polyurethane on them I'd go ahead and use the Polyshades to darken the color slightly too. Has anyone attempted this? Any other suggestions for darkening the color a little without stripping and re-staining?

  • how to write in a military waiver request that will get their attention?

Criminal history is standing in the way of a young man joining the military and he needs a few moral waivers. As an adult he has one minor alcohol consumption, one charge of possession of mj, and one criminal mischief charge. He does have some non-violent juvenile offenses as well. He wants to write a request for a moral waiver, but doesn't know where to begin. Can anyone who has actually been successful at getting a moral waiver in the past year 2010-2011 give some pointers on what should and shouldn't be written in the request?

  • Music Ideas for a Co-ed Baby Shower (Baby Girl)?

I'm throwing a co-ed Rock-in-Roll themed Baby shower. The invites are actual concert tickets. There will be 60's, 70's & 80's band posters and albums that I've replaced the baby's name or the parents names into as decorations. We're even going to tie-dye baby clothes. The only thing missing is background music. I would love to have a CD that has "girls", "baby girl", or "baby" in the lyrics. I've only a handful of ideas so far and could use every-ones suggestions. Please send me your ideas - thanks so much!

  • Validictorian Speech?

    What should this speech entail?

    1) Message of congrats, good cheer, and good luck for the graduating class as well as a thank you to families/friends who supported them?

    2) Words about the valedictorian's own experiences and hopes and dreams for their own future?

    3) Witty commentary about the past four years in general and what the future holds for the class?

    4) A combination of the above three?

    5) Other suggestions.

  • Are gift registries rude or convenient?

I've been invited to so very many baby showers and weddings where the gifts are registered at stores that are not close to where I live OR everything the recipient has chosen are available "on-line" only. I live a busy and often times hectic life and I must admit I wait until the last minute to shop, so on-line usually doesn't work for for. I often times just buy something close to what is on the registry and always include the receipt somewhere inside the wrapping. I'm just curious what others think about gift registries - are they convenient or do you find them somewhat rude/impersonal?

  • Should I give Jay Leno a second chance and watch his show?

I realize how trivial this is, but I was just wondering what others were thinking about these events. I felt really bad for Conan O'Brien when he was jilted out of the late show spot. Should I give the Jay Leno show a second chance or should I stick with good old Dave Letterman?
