  • Sudden acne? PLEASE HELP!?

Hi guys, I have never had acne before. Ok, the ocasionaly pimple, but never a total pizza face. This past week my face has a sudden rupture of soars that look a lot like acne. White heads, the just hurt and not much comes out. It is really distressing. I went to the doctors and he didn't know what it was, just gave me some pills. My acne is on my cheeks and running down the side of my face, as well as right between my eyes. I am going to the dirmetoligist, but in the mean time, is there anything I can do to speed up the healing process? Could this be related to stress? I have a had a lot these past few weeks, new private school, selling my horse, etc. I have been changing my pillow case and cleaning my face with an exfoliater and clinque estringer, as well as peroxide. Previos to this acne I was using coconut oil to wash my face. It really helped, but it seemed like when I stopped using it, the acne broke out! What should I do?????

  • How to rescue from slaughter?

    Hi guys,

I attend a private school that is very open to helping others (quaker run). I am going to propose that we make a "farm sanctuary" club. The school already has stables and a gardening farm with chickens and turkeys, so I don't see why it would be a problem.

What the club would do is go int slaughter houses, and rescue the animals that the sluaghterers' lave in a pile for dead. I went to the real Fram Sanctuary in NY and they said that they do that, so I figured it would be a good place to start. After rescuing, the animals would be taken car of and nursed back to health, from they they would be adopted.

The problem is, I do not know how I would gain access to these animals. It does not seem like the slaughter houses like a lot of people digging through their "trash". Any ideas? Or if any one has any better ideas on how we could help, that would be great!

  • How to tell if my dog has been in a fight?!!!!!?

Hi guys, my 20 pound yorkie/bishon is such a brave little guy. Today it seemed he was not feeling well. Originally he acted like he had a stomach ache. For example: darting under my bed, slumping around the house, not acting like himself. Then he jumped into the bath I had been running and after he was dry started licking his chest. I couldn't see any physical marks until now.

Basically, there is a lump that circumference wise is about the size of a golf ball on his neck, scrapes on his chest, and swelling, and another lump on his sternum. We live in the woods, so it's highly likely that he got into a tussel with something, but I'm quite worried. The lumps do not look like tumors-you can move them, they are soft and hot, and don't seem to cause him pain, and the skin ontop can be moved too.

I'm just worried because he does not have the best breeding (puppy mill dog-I know I should not have gotten him, but he cried every time I put him down and I fell in love). He almost died when he got neutered. It was awful, and he just seems to take all his injuries very hard. So, what should I do????!!

  • Could not eating cause a pulsating stomach?

    Hi guys,

I'm 14 and for the last three days my stomach has been pulsating very badly. It's almost like a muscle spasm or when your heart skips a beat. It usually occurs when I'm lying down and it doesn't hurt. Sometimes it gets so strong that I can see my stomach hiccuping up and down! I'm pretty sure it's because of my diet. I'm 5'2 and I've been trying to diet, so I really haven't eaten anything for the past three days, which is when it started.I weigh 98 lbs. Really, I'm just wondering if this stomach thing is bad, or like life threatening. Is it because of my eating habits?

  • How to qualify for World's?

Hi guys, my parents are moving our horses to a BIG saddleseat show born (we have saddlebreds). This barn goes to world's each year, and I'm really excited! We'll be going there in about a month or so, which is why, even though they will tell me, I'm asking this now.

So basically, how would one qualify to show at the saddlebred world championship? Thanks so much!

  • What do you think of Friesians?

Hi guys, basically my parents are selling my current horse which has been an absolute disaster. Originally, I had gotten a saddlebred who my trainer promised to finish and here we are a year and a half later still with a crazy horse. So yeah, we have looked at our other options (which are quite limited because of where we are, etc) and have decided that selling would be the best thing to do.

Anyway, what do all of you think of Friesians? Yes, they cost a lot. I would not be looking in the 30k + price range, more like 15k and under, lols.

I've just always wanted one. The first horse I ever road was Joe Perry's friesian, as a matter if fact! 8 months old, hahaha!

Anyway, the horse would be used mainly for trails and goofing around. I have not been able to ever do that kind if stuff with my horse since he's a show saddlebred and not finished, so obviously Im looking forward to that!

But yeah, Friesians as trail horses? Is there anything to look for when buying a friesian? Reputable friesian farms?

Thanks so much! I'm not in experienced-shown at Devon horse show, ride an unfinished power house of a horse, so Im not scared that the horse will take over me or anything!

  • Sad about selling my horse?

    Hi guys,

so a year and a half ago my parents bought me my first horse. Unfortuantly we had no idea of what we were getting into when we bought a green broke powerhouse saddlebred from our trainer. In all fairess, yes, we should have done more research, but my traier - who is 83 - promised he would be finished in two months of training. Well, a year and a half later, and with 25k payed for training, he not trained, and although he is now semi fiished, he is no where ready to become a show horse and is already 8 years old!

For example - and he is a 3 gaited show pleasure horse- he doe not have the right head set, he bolts when a piece of dirt hits the wall, at our last show we were excused because he planted his feet ad would not go up the rail. After that show, my dad made a deal with my trainer sayig that we'd pay for two more mnths of training and then would do something else if he was not finished.

Well, first, my trainer ays he's finished, but I still see all those problems, so obviosly ow we have to sell because the only other saddleseat barn in 45 mins away and my mom wont drive me that far.

Now, I'm just really sad because I'm so worried something bad will happen to him. Honestly, he's a gorgeous horse and has the potential to make it to world's, and I feel like I'm giving up on him, and I know everyone at the farm thinks that too. Problem is, we live in jersey so all the saddle seat competition are far away in kentucky and such. I feel like I'm wasting my time.

Mainly though, I'm just heart broken because I love him so much, he's got such a personality, ad I'm worried he'll end up at laughter, because a lot of the older show horses do. But, there isn't anything I can do. I can't keep asking my dad to pay 25k a year for something that isn't making me happy and is just wasting our time. I'm really sad, do you guys have any advice? Thanks so much!

  • Pain and fullness? 10 POINTS!?

Hi, I'm 14 years old, a girl and for the last couple of days I've had pain like a deep, dull ache under my ribs. Not in the lungs area, butt lower, in the high stomach, under both ribs. I've also had a feeling of fullness in my low stomach and in the same spot as the "rib" pain. I've also been very fatigued, and I've had very bad headaches. I do have a history if migraines, but it seems like they have just started to return. I can eat, but I get full very fast. My gym teacher made is run yesterday which is why I think I'm so achy. But, I've been getting many "eye floaters" for some time (the little squiggles that appear in your vision), and I've been more light headed abd have even felt dizzy/getting the black haze when I stand up more than normal. Do any of you know what this could be? Please help! 10 points to best answer! Thanks so much!

  • I don't want to go to private school?

My parents want me to go to this private school for high school because it will be good for my education. The classes are small, and it is a good school. The problem is, I don't want to go. I like my friends, and even though the school I'm at now isn't private, it is a very good public school.

The only reason I wanted to go to private school was so I could get another horse (they have stables there). Now my parents are saying they won't let me, even though they told me it was okay before I applied. Now that I'm accepted they're saying another horse is out of the question. etc.

My mom is really mad at me especially, but I can't help it. I don't want to leave my friends!

It just seems like I won't have any fun there and it will be all studying, etc. Lets put it this way, there's 180 kids in the 9th grade, and I really want to have the high school experience with parties and friends. I'm dreading next year because it's so depressing to think about.

    Any advice?

  • Where should I rescue from?

My parents told me I could get a second horse as long as I save from a rescue. I would like a saddlebred, and if all else fails I'll rescue from saddlebred rescue, but does anyone else know another saddlebred rescue?

  • Can I get knocked out for a shot?

Ever since I was little, I've had a severe phobia of needles. It's not that I don't want to get them, it's that I physically can't without being heavily medicated. For example, I start hyper ventilating just thinking about getting a shot. It's awful and terrifying. And when I do have to get a shot or blood test, I have to have at least three muscle relaxers and I'm still in hysterics.

So, I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a doctor or if a doctor will give you something to knock you out for a shot. I know it's drastic, but to me, it's the most frightening feeling in the world and I'd just like to skip the whole process. Thanks!

  • I don't want to go to private school?

My parents want me to go to private school for high school. We've applied to a school and now we're waiting to hear back. The thing is, I really don't want to leave my friends. I'm not really an over achiever in academics, more in extra curriculars, and the school I've applied for isn't as academically rigorous as most private schools which is good. The problem is there's 130 people per grade, and I really enjoy having a ton of friends, etc. I just really don't want to go, but Im also afraid that if I get in, and I don't go, I'll regret it. Any advice?

  • I really want to switch barns but....?

I love my barn- my trainer is 83 years old and I've been with him since I was seven (14). I got a horse last year who was green broke but had potential. We've been working together to get him trained and he is finally starting to shape up.

All in all, I love my farm. I love the people, the horses, etc. but it's small and news travels fast. There's also some favoritism and a lot of things aren't fair. We do not show often, infancy I believe thins year we will be showing a wapping 3 times. That's what I really hate, because I feel like I've been through so much with this horse only to go out there three times. It doesn't seem worth it!

The only other barn that does saddle seat is 38 minutes away and goes to all the major shows including worlds, nationals, etc. It's a big show barn that I would honestly love to go to, but I don't want to hurt my trainer (the other barn is like our rival and going there would be like betraying him).

I really want to switch barns, but I feel like its my duty to stay at this barn because my trainer has worked so hard on my horse, who's kind of like his last big project. My mom also does not want to switch because its a lot farther.

I just don't know what to do. I'm not happy in this situation because of the lack of showing and all the favoritism, but I feel like I can't switch because it would really hurt my trainer, any advice?

  • Should I switch Barns?

Sorry guys, but this is a longgg description.

Basically, I love my barn, everything about it, but we don't show and, may trainer who is in his 80's is like my grandpa. I've been riding there since I was 5 and last year my parents bought me a horse. The horse was green broke and has come a longgg way since then. Now, my trainer is pretty excited for his debut as show horse this coming season. The problem is, we don't do any shows- three a season. I'm not sure if it's because of his age, or what, but I want to show. I feel like we've put all this time and energy into making my horse good, only to have him do no shows.

The barn I'm thinking about going to is the only other in our within 45 minutes- basically it's amazing. It's proffesional and they go to nationals and worlds each year, and that's where I want to be. The problem is I don't want to hurt my trainer at all- I feel leaving the barn for the other would make extreme tension and anger between us. What should I do?

  • Did I have a seizure?

Hi, earlier today I went to a fair type thing and it was SO freaking cold (don't know if that's important)! While we were walking to the car this wave almost washed over me and it was like I was completely in aware if what was happening like unconsiose but I could still walk. I didn't say anything for probably about 2 minutes (we couldn't find our car)- but it was like nothing was making sense at all like I wasn't connecting to my surrounding or I was watching my ladled react to things but couldn't control my movements. I'm almost 14 and this happened yesterday in that car.

I get a lot of head aches and feel foggy all the time- today my head just felt like pressure.

Could anyone tell me what this is? Thanks so much!
