  • Processor/CPU cooling choice?

I have got the choice down to a few of the coolermaster ones:

    CM Hyper 612s

    CM Hyper 412s

    CM Hyper 212 PLUS

    CM Hyper 212 EVO

These have performed well in benchmarks i have seen but i would like people to comment who have seen these in action and can give me and idea on noise and temperatures.

I currently have the intel stock fan that came with my i5-2500k, but its a little noisy even when the CPU is idle.

So what i pretty much want is a CPU cooler that is quiet and performance needs to be at least as good as the intel stock but the low the temps the better.

Budget is about £35 so advice on coolers for that price and some comments from those with experience of the cooler listed above would be very helpful. Also my case is the Coolermaster elite 430 so it should fit most coolers. if you need to know any other info in order to give me advice let me know so i can put it up.

    Thank you in advance

  • Which of these SSDs should I buy? And why?

Hi, this is what i want from an SSD (1st to least important): Speed improvemant over HDDs, low price, reliabity.

I am fairly certain that most SSDs have speed improvement over HDDs, so basically im asking for a low cost SSD that will work.

Since this is for my gaming pc it doesnt need to be a really expensive reliable one, just one that wont break/bsod every day.

At the moment im looking at the: Kingston V+200 120GB and the ADATA s510 120GB. they both are reasonable priced and have good read/write/IOP speed. I have been told that the SF-2000 bugs have been removed with new updates so those SSDs should be alright?

Here is my pc spec incase you need it to answer:

    GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 (F13)

Intel i5-2500k (stock cooler) -not overclocked yet :)

    Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 8GB (2x4GB) RAM

Western Digital Caviar Blue 7200rpm HDD

    XFX Core Edition HD 7770

    OCZ ZS 80%+ 650Watt PSU

    ASUS 24x Optical Drive

Cooler Master Elite 430 (front fan intake, back fan exhast)

Thanks in advance for your help

  • I am looking to get a SSD and need some advice/opinions?

I know how important with hardware like SSDs that often asking other people who have used/experienced them what they think, so if you use a SSD then it would be great if you could give me a few pointers.

So far i have come across the Samsung 830 128GB (desktop kit) it looks like the best but i'd like to know what everyone actually thinks opposed to numbers in the specifications.

I have a ga-z68x-ud3-b3 motherboard that comes with utilities, i like the sound of the smart response technology and i was wondering if i could use 64GB for that then the rest of hte space for the OS (windows 7 OEM). or is it better to just use it for the smart response or just for the OS.

hope you can help and thanks in advance

  • Can some experts or experienced Gamers/IT people check over this spec.?

Ok so have have come up with what i hope to be close to my final spec. please check for possible improvments, my budget (£500/$800) can be stretched if its needed for quality.

    Intel i5 2500k proccessor £170

    Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 £70

    Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) RAM £40

WD Caviar blue 500GB HDD £55

XFX Core Edition Pro 650watts PSU £75

    Sapphire Radeon HD7770 £110

    Windows 7 Home Premium £110

    Cooler Master Elite 430 £40

    Total cost: £670

PLEASE tell me if you can find cheaper prices or alternatives to these parts that will have the same quality. not sure if my budget will stretch that far :)

And that the mother board i have added is compatible and good enough and will allow me to overclock the i5 2500K.

    Help will be greatly appreciated
