  • How can i convince my grandma i don't need counselling?

im 16. this is all background info: so my mom died around 9 months ago and when she died my grandma tried to get me to go to counselling but i said no because i believed i didnt need it. i have nothing against death and have accepted it as something that happens and obviously im sad about losing my mom but i dont feel betrayed or abandoned or anything. now the issue of picking a headstone is coming up and she wants to take me to the city my mom was buried to pick out what kind of marble to use and what colours and frankly i think thats unnecessary because thats the kind of thing you do when picking out a bathroom sink. i also dont want to go back to the place my mom was buried until the 1 year anniversary of her death. my grandma thinks me not wanting to go has to do with repressed feelings and me not addressing the 'root of the problem' (???) and it will affect my relationships with people (i have an awesome support group with friends and family and i am happily in a relationship).

after all of that how can i get her to believe that i'm fine and don't need to see someone?

  • Can you double major in anything?

I want my main major to be political science with a concentration in international relations, but I also want to major in biodiversity and conservation (because I want to do something in environmental policy making and that would give me some credibility). Are those two majors too different to realistically double major in?

  • How to avoid someone I see everyday?

I'm a high school junior and there's this girl I've known since the first day of freshman year and I never wanted to be friends with her, but I didn't know anyone and she was the first person to talk to me. I never answer her texts and when she talks to me I give one word answers or just shrug her off and whenever she wants to hang out after school I always cancel or make up some excuse, but she still doesn't get it. She's told me that if I were gay she would want to date me, and as it turns out, I actually am gay and the only reason I'm in the closet is because I don't want to her to know and I don't want to give her another reason to talk to me (and being in the closet is probably the worst thing for my mental health right now). Just this week she started asking me extremely personal questions in the middle of math class and got annoyed when I wouldn't answer them. We have all the same classes this year and next year so there's no way I can't see her. And she's SO annoying; she sits beside me in math and is constantly asking questions and complaining about how she doesn't understand it, but she never listens and it's distracting for me because I actually want to hear the lesson. She's also an extremely touchy-feely person and will hold on to my arm even after I've told her not to, and I've told her I don't like hugs but she still comes up behind me to hug me and it makes me extremely uncomfortable. What's the best way to completely avoid her?

  • Where should I start in the Marvel Universe?

I know absolutely nothing about marvel comics or anything relating to that but I really want to start reading the comics. Where should I start? Is there a particular arc I should read first? Does it even matter?

  • Should I major in biochemistry?

I want to become a marine biologist, and after a bit of research I learned people recommend not doing my undergraduate in marine biology, but instead get a really strong science background before getting a graduate degree in marine biology. I was thinking of doing biochemistry and a minor in oceanography, but a lot of people do biochem before med school, so should I do biochem or will that lead me in the wrong direction? If it does, what should I do instead?

  • Should I come out to my parents?

I've known I was bisexual for about three years and came out to my two best friends last year. They're the only people who know. My parents aren't homophobic or anything, and I know my mom would be accepting. My dad and his side of the family don't understand anything other than heterosexuality and though they'd still love me, they would definitely look at me as 'weird'. I don't want my relationship with my family to change or for them to act any different than they do now. Should I tell them, or just wait until (if ever) I really need to?

  • Can I have more than one career?

I have two completely different passions and I want to be able to do both. I want to become a marine biologist either working in research or in the field, but I also want to teach special education to kids with learning disabilities. Can I do both or should I just focus on one?

  • What's the difference between IB SL math and HL math?

I want to take SL math because I feel I could get a better mark in it than HL, but I don't really know what the differences are. When I look on university requirements for the science courses I want to take, it usually requires a prerequisite of advances functions and recommended calculus. Would I get the equivalent of those credits by taking SL math or would I need to take HL, or some sort of summer school?

  • Possible career paths involving children?

So I needed to start thinking about what kind of career I want in life and I have a general idea. I know I want to work with kids and I've been thinking of working in child protection. Recently though I volunteered at an elementary school and helped kids with learning disabilities. It was amazing but I already know I don't want to be a teacher or have a job that spends an excess amount of time in a school. Are there any jobs that are a compromise between the two?

  • Are Native American witches born witches?

I can't find this information anywhere so I was hoping someone with knowledge about witchcraft could answer if Native American were born witches or if they had to learn it or if it was hereditary or something?

  • jobs involving history?

So history is by far my favourite subject and I really want to pursue a career in it. The only problem is I can't seem to find very many - good - jobs in the field. I've thought about things thing anthropology or archaeology or paloentology, but most of them need you to be a professor and I don't want to do that.

Are there other careers like that (preferably a lot of biology/chemistry involved)?

And if not, is being a professor really the best way to go?
