Is it normal to hear voices when I'm about to sleep?
Hey,
I realised today that when I'm just about to fall asleep, I often hear voices. Before you get any further, they're not telling me to do things, and I can't remember what they've said after I realise I hear them.
This ONLY happens when I'm right about to fall asleep...you know that stage where your brain is JUST starting to form dreams, and you sometimes think you're falling and jolt awake? That's what's going on here. I don't see anything except the inside of my eyelids (of course...i'm falling asleep, haha), so I'm not hallucinating images. They're not saying anything in particular -- really random phrases, in fact, which is part of why I can't remember them. They never talk over each other -- it's as if I were listening in on a conversation. They're not voices I recognise. It only lasts for a few seconds, as far as I can tell, though it probably would last longer if I let myself fall asleep; however, I don't remember these 'voices' unless I jolt awake.
I think it's probably just a stage of my dreams forming, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Sometimes I hear music, too -- not recognisable music, just music I've never heard before. The voices are never particularly mean or nice -- just random as hell. No one in my family has a history of schizophrenia, and I've never heard the voices when I'm fully lucid.
If it matters, I don't think I ever hear the same voices twice.
Thanks!
