  • Why was I on my period for a entire month?

about a month ago I started my period at the beginning of the month, which is usual for me. during this time I started hanging out with a man frequently and I haven't really hung out with men for about a year now. he and I were hanging out about 3 times a week for hours and hours. my period lasted a week. stopped and five days later started up again and it was heavy. it continued through the rest of the month. someone mentioned to me that it could be from being around a guy when I haven't been around any for a while. my period used to irregular when I was younger but for the past few years it has been pretty consistent so I was a little thrown off by this. could it have to do with hormones or something??

  • Why do some horses get more hot than others when fed alfafa?

this question just popped into my head. i know some things people feed their horses like alfalfa, rice bran, and grain feed with molasses can make some horses more hot and excitable. but why some horses and not others? i have a 2 year old quarter horse who is pretty small hes about the size of a large pony right now and he gets 6 pounds of alfalfa a day and it barely affects him at all, hes still very calm and mellow. there is another horse in my barn thats also a quarter horse is 8 years and very broad. he cant even have a pound of alfalfa without getting a little crazy. i think part of the answer depends on how calm the horse is to begin with but are there any other reason? why would my baby be able to handle more alflafa than a horse much bigger than him? thanks for all answers :)

  • BEST way to stop a runaway horse?

so i was just thinking about several different ways people have taught me to stop a runaway horse and i was just wondering what people thought is the best and most effective way.. one that i've learned is the pull and release method;pull when the horse surges forward but the release for them to carry out the stride. but then i know that with some horses this teaches them to just lean on the pressure and their head just goes higher and they just go faster. and the other way i've learned is to turn them in a tight circle becuase then they have to slow down( and when i say tight circle i dont mean by yanking their head to the left or right, i mean by disengaging their hindquarters and using the reins as well) but then ive also been told that that really throws them of balance and cuts off their vision or something and makes them more nervous. then ive also been told that when a horse spooks the best thing to d is get their feet moving because it gives them something else to focus on and its good to trot in circles or do patterns in front of whatever is spooking them.. so what do you guys think? they all seem to have their pros and cons but which one seems to work best for everyone else without creating problems for the horse?

  • Do geldings cause mares to go in to heat more often?

I went riding with a lady in utah and she had like 7 horses or something and she was telling me how she keeps her geldings in seperate pastures than her mares because the galding cause the mares to go into heat more often in the summer and the spring and that there is less rucas all together if you do that. is all that true? is there some hormonal something or other that makes mare go into heat more often when there around geldings? just curious :)

  • My 2 year old is bucking. help?

I have a 2 year old colt who is an amazing little horse. he leads, ties, saddle, bridles. me and my trainer have been riding him about twice a week for like 10 min. just to get him used to the idea. yes i know he is still growing thats why we only ride hiim for 10 or 15 min. the first time we got on him he could care less. hes never done anything bad with someone on him. a few days ago my trainer was on him in the round pen. we didnt have a bit in his mouth we were just going to lunge him with her on walk trot canter both ways and call it a day. he was doing amazing until the canter when for some reason he decided to buck and buck hard. my trainer fell off and then he really freaked out and started crow hopping and doing bronco crap. then she ran him around and got on again. he let her get on and sit there but then the secnd we asked him to go forward he took off bucking and she fell again. we ran him around more and we just started doing what we did when we first started riding him. we would just hang over him and have him take a few steps forward but he would try to take off every time. we both had to go to work so sadly we had to end it with us only being able to hang over him while he just stands there. we came yesterday to work with him and he still saddles fine and everything but now the second you put your foot in the stirrup he freaks out. im soo upset because everyone keeps saying you just have to sart back at the begining but this is like 10 steps below the begining. he NEVER did anything like this. and what do you guys think about sending to like a 30 day training thing? i guess a "cowboy". has anyone had to do this? any advice is helpful

  • riding leg and foot position problems?

I've been riding a really long time and i've switched trainers several times and i have good riding position except my feet. i have flat feet and i've been to the doctors there is nothing they can do except they gave me shoe inserts but those really only help if your wearing them and my boots dont allow me to put them in. anyway since i dont have much of an arch it causes my feet to stick out when I walk and when i ride. walking with my feet turned out for so long has kinda messed up my legs because when i turn my feet so that they are facing forward my knees slightly turn in. its really starting to bother me because when im ridng, if i turn my feet forward i start to grip the horse with my knees and its just hard to relax because my muscles aren't used to being like that. i ride western and ive bent my stirrups so that they are facing forward as oppose to laying flat on the horses side. does anyone one else have the same problem? or mabye some excersizes that will help on or off the horse? i just find it hard to believe that this is just how its going to be.

  • loose leaf tea questions?

ok so I am a little new to making loose leaf tea. I have a tea pot from enjoy tea.com and it came with a sampler pack. the tea pot holds about three cups and i got a warmer as well. some of their teas were ok but most of them seemed to need a lot of sugar or they just werent very good. then I went to a place called vital tea in San Fran. and they specialize in chinese tea and i did a tea tasting and it was all deliceous! the guy said its best if you only make as much tea as your going to drink at that moment because like coffee the flavor changes. he also said his teas arent meant to be drank with sugar or anything just natural. i bought some of thier teas and they only need to be brewed for about 20 seconds and have had complete sucess. there great! I tried these techniques on the enjoytea samples and it didnt really work and so I again followed the instructions the tea came with and still no good. and example is silver needle white tea. the website says its supposed to be sweet and light. mine tastes nothing like that. and every website i go to tells me something different! its very confusing. any advice? or recomendations?

  • will calm and cool work?

I asked a question on here a while ago about my 2 yr old gelding flipping over a fence, but for anyone who doesnt know he tried to jump an arena fence and flipped over it and he was doing ok for a while but I just had a vet come look at him and it turns out he bruised his hip pretty bad. so i am only supposed t cold hose and hand walk him for two weeks. its been almost one week and hand walking is getting nearly immpossible. all he does is rear and try to take off and I cant he just gets more and more fiesty but he has to walk. so i bought some calm and cool paste and im hoping it will calm him down enough to walk him for 10-15 min. has anyone used it before? does it work good? and how long does it take to kick in?

  • horse flipped over arena fence!!!?

So i put my 2 year old horse in an arena for a turnout and he was running around and he started running towards the fence but usually when horses do that they just make a sharp turn. so he tries to jump the fence but he's little and his front legs hit the fence about halfway up and he flipped over it. he got up and walked a few steps and i went and grabbed him. I found one of the trainers and had her look at him while i trotted him to see if he was lame and he wasnt.. or not yet at least. it seems like all that happened was some hair came off his front leg. I gave him some bute too. but my question is does anyone think its possible that he could walk away from this with nothing but a flesh wound? sometimes horses are sturdy but a lot of thimes their pretty fragile. has anyone elses horse done this and if so how did it turn out? im not vetting him unless he looks like crap tomorow.

  • 2 year old horse training?

Ok so i have a 2 year old quarter horse gelding and ive been lunging on the lunge line with a surcingle and he leads and my trainer wants to bridle him for the first time tomorow. i bought him a nice loose ring snaffle with a copper middle piece that lays flat on the tounge and my trainer said that were just going to put it on him like we would any other day with just a simple headstall and then let him be in his stall with it on and eat( even though ur not techincally supposed to do that) and drink just so he can get used to it and not be afraid of it. and we are going to supervise him so he doesnt hurt himself. does this sound ok? theres just so many ways to to it and i want to do it in a way thats ok for him. so ya is this ok and is it ok to bridle him before we saddle him?

  • how many ways can you hold split reins?

I always thought you are supposed to tie a knot and neck rein if the horse knows how or cross them in front of you so theyre draping on both sides of the horse and just hold both of the reins in one hand closed all the way around them. then i read that your supposed to seperate them woth your index finger but still cross the and another site said your supposed to seperate them with your index finger and both ends of the reins should drape to the left if your riding with your left hand and right if your using your right hand. which one of these is correct? or are they all right? thanx to any answers
