Dream to be a mum

  • Help in finding a sperm donor in Sydney Australia?

I am 27, single and looking to have a baby.

I have always wanted children, I have known from the time I was 15-16 that I wanted to be a mum, yet here I am at 27 still single having never been in a relationship and really wanting to settle down and start a family.

I have looked into going through a fertility specialist such as IVF australia and have been to many seminars and discussion nights and this is still a great option for me once I save a 10 thousand for treatment costs but I am wondering fi there is an easier way to find a sperm donar and perhaps DIY at home?

    Any information would be great.

  • What should I buy/give my 7yr old god daughter for her christening?

I have unofficially been god mother to my best friends daughter since she was born and her mum has finally decided to have her christened at 7 yrs old.

I am at a lose as to what to give/buy her? I want it to be memorable.

She isn't into jewelry and I know her mum is already getting her a photo album and bible.

    Thanks for your help.

  • How to stop my dog from needing to go to the toilet in the middle of the night?

My almost 4 year old boxer has recently started loosing weight, she went from around 22kg to 18kg in 2 months, she has always been a small framed boxer but has always looked healthy up until this recent weight loss.

Anyway after a few visits to the vet where we have decided to try her on a high calorie diet.

We started her on 1.5 cups of dry food in the morning and half-1 can of puppy wet food in the evening at around 6pm. Ever since this she has been waking me up at around 2am every single night needing to go outside to do a poo. She used to sleep right through the night and it would even be a struggle to wake her up in the morning.

I have tried giving her the wet food in the morning and the dry at night, I have tried feeding her as soon as I get home at 4pm but still she wakes me up at 2am every night.

She is perfectly house trained and has had no prior issues with needing to poop at this time of the night. I always take her out at about 10pm and tell her to go pee and she does this with no issues.

I am going to Europe in 5 days and I will be gone for 5 weeks and she will be staying with my parents and will be crated outside throughout the night and I am worried about her having to go to the toilet in her crate because nobody will be there to let her out.

Am I worrying to much? should she be able to hold it? this has been going on every night for 3 weeks.

    Thanks

  • Any advice on artificial insemination for a single woman in Australia?

I am looking for advice or stories from any single women or same sex couples who have conceived a child through artificial insemination.

I am 27 and for the past 3 years I have been highly considering artificial insemination in order to conceive a child on my own, because I want to be a mum more then anything else. I am single, I have always been single and I can't see myself being in a relationship with anyone for quite some time. I don't want to wait too long and miss out on the change to be a mum.

I have my own house/car/stable job. My sisters and best friends are very supportive. My parents are warming up to the idea. I am looking to start the process after my 28th birthday, I don't want to wait longer because I fear I will have difficulty falling pregnant due to endometriosis and very irregular periods.

I have spoken with IVF Australia and discussed my circumstances with one of their coordinators and asked lots of questions but I am just looking for any further information or advice.

I am not looking for people to give any negative comments even though I am expecting it anyway.

So if you have been through this or know of anyone who has could you answer any of my questions?

    What was the process like?

How many attempts did it take?

    How much did it cost?

Where did you have the procedure done?

Were/are your family and friends supportive?

How have you dealt with any criticism?

    Thanks xx

  • Can you suggest more baby girl and boy names for me?

I am having trouble finding baby boy and baby girl names that everyone in my family likes.

I know it comes down to me and what I want for my children and of course that’s what I will do but if I can find some names that everyone likes as much as I do then that will be the best of both worlds.

Names I like so far that have mixed reception from family are:

    Girls:

    Spencer

    Sage

    Ivy

    Hailey

    Amelia (or Mia)

    Kaitlyn (or Kailen)

    Poppy

    Aria

    Layla

    Boys:

    Lucas

    Liam

    Logan

    Ryan

    Caleb

    Jace (or Chase)

    Issac

    Ethan

    Mason

    Brodie

Middle name for baby girl will probably be Elise or Annelise, Jayde or Olivia. Middle names for boys will be either James, Alexander or Michael.

If you can just suggest as many names as you like maybe I will find something I like.

    Thanks

  • Any advice on my dog's aggression towards children?

    Hi,

I have a 3.5yr old female boxer who is showing more signs of aggression towards children and it is really starting to frighten and upset me.

I have had her since she was 7 weeks old, I socialised her by taking her to family parties/gatherings with me and to visit a nursing home where I work, she went to puppy preschool and advanced training for 12 weeks. She sits, stays, shakes, drops, knows leave it and off. And when its just me and her she is a good dog. But introduce other people or other dogs and she gets so hyperactive and now sometimes she becomes aggressive.

I am know she isnt perfect, she displays a lot of naughty behaviours like jumping up on people and territorial barking when neighbours are in their backyards or when poeple come to the door and we have stopped going to dog parks because she got into a few fights and I dont want to risk that any more. She is okay on walks she does pull occassionally if I am walking her with other people but much better when it is just me and her, she is fine when we walk past people/children or other dogs, or sometimes she just gets a excited and looks like she wants to play.

I do not have children of my own however I have 2 small god children aged 2 and 6 and while I would NEVER leave them alone with my dog I would like for them to be able to interact as she is an inside dog (when I am at home) and they come to my house a lot for baby sitting and visits, however she will growl and bash at the glass sliding door whenever they go near it as if she is trying to attack them through the door! I have never even let them in the same room/area as each other out of fear that she may hurt them.

Yesterday I took her to my parents house and their next door neighbours son (8) wanted to pat my dog but before we even got out of the car she had the hair on her back standing straight up and was growling and when she got out she crouched down and was bearing her teeth and looking to kill this child.

I just dont understand what I have done wrong.

The rest of my family are staying I should get rid of her but I love her so much and can't bear the thought of re homing her. I am also worried due to her aggression nobody will take her and she will need to be put down. I know I am probably to blame and that my nervousness about her now is making her worse. But I need help.

I would love to have children of my own in a few years but I know thats this is not going to work with my dog the way she is now. Any advice would be greatfully appreciated. Thanks.

  • My female boxer pee's in her sleep?

I have a 3 and a half year old female boxer (spayed) who has been wetting the bed, last year she probably had 4-5 episodes of this where I would wake up feeling a wet patch near my feet/legs as sleeps with me (yes I know she's spoilt) and when I would wake her up she would be distressed and try to clean herself up, so I am sure she did not know what she was doing, I have taken her to the vet last year who suspected a UTI and she was put on antibiotics but because the episodes were so infrequent I just assumed they had worked. However this year alone she had already had 4 episodes of wetting the bed and also 1 episode whilst asleep on the lounge, she is very house broken and will always let me know when she needs to go out to pee etc she will even wake me at 1am or 4am if need be and I don't mind that because she is doing the right thing but this bed wetting is really getting to me! Having to wash all the linen and bed spread every day and hoping she does have another accident the same night I make it up! It's horrible. And I am sure she doesn't like waking up In a puddle of pee anymore then I do! Help! Thanks.

  • I think my cast is on crooked?

Back story - I had a fall 6 days ago, I went to hospital via ambulance and was told I had sprained my left ankle and dislocated my left knee. 2 days later I went to my GP who xrayed my ankle and found a spiral fracture of the fibula. I had a back slab put on for 4 days and today I went to see a specialist and a physiotherapist put a fiberglass cast on up to below the knee.

Actual question - so with my cast on it feels good but my foot is not flat on the ground its tilted like with my big toe up in the air a bit and my foot slanted towards my little toe.. I'm not sure if this is how it's meant to be as I was told I will be able to put weight on it in a few days but I don't know how I will be able to do that when my foot isn't flat.

Does anyone know if this is normal?

    Thanks

  • What do you think of these names for twins?

I have just started treatment for IVF/Artificial insemination and the Dr's have made me aware of the high prospect of twins if my treatment is successful. While I am not going to get my hopes up I have been obsessed with baby names for awhile anyway so thought I would spend some time thinking of names for twins, so far I have:

    Boy/Boy twins:

    Logan James

    Tyler ??? middle name

    Girl/Girl twins:

    Everleigh ?? middle name

    Sage Anneliese

    Boy/Girl twins:

    Logan James

    Lacey Jayde

    1. do you like the names I have chosen?

    2. do you have a middle name suggestion for Everleigh & Tyler?

    3. do you have any other suggestions?

BQ. I also like Lucas & Laikyn for boys but my older sister wants them and I like Peyton Olivia for a girl but my younger sister wants Peyton, do you think its okay to 'steal' these names?

    Thanks
