I hooked up the trailer and started checking the lights turn signals work and the running lights work. When I have the lights on and press the brakes the lights go out on the trailer. Also I dont know if its suppose to but the turn signals dont blink in sync they blink opposite. But the brake lights are the main thing. with the lights off and you press the brakes they dont work that way either. Help please. where to start

My buddy has a 1988 Chystler Conquest,and it was overheating,so he changed the thermostat,still overheating,so he changed the water pump,and it's still overheating, it doesn't get real hot just when he shuts it off it leaks out the overflow.Today he thought maybe something to do with the radiator cap because we found a chunk of the o-ring missing and when we filled it up it was dripping out of the cap , do you think that would cause it not to build enough pressure to open the thermostat or somthing, or do you think maybe it's a clogged radiator, he drained it and put all new in , i'm not sure if he flushed it or not. Any info would help , thanks.
