  • Can I dye my brown hair dark copper/auburn?

My hair is naturally dark blonde but I dyed it platinum blonde a few months ago. When I was sick of the blonde I died it a medium brown. It took a couple of box dyes to get it an opaque, rich colour.

Now I want to dye it a copper/auburn colour. Kinda the colour of cinnamon. I bought a box dye that lightens your hair, it says it s suitable for light brown to black hair. Will this work? I know it lightens brown hair if your natural hair colour is brown, but will it lighten my dyed hair a bit too?

  • I need names with unexpected nicknames?

So I'm writing this story and I need girls names that have an unexpected nickname.

    So far I have:

    Amphyllis: Liz

    Artemisia: Missy

    Erasmia: Mia

    Johnetta: Netta

    Merritt: Mary

Except for Mary and Liz i feel like they are too predictable still. I'm looking for a name that's quite out there (as you can tell), the nickname can be more common or unusual too, as long as it's not too obvious. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

  • Gernet for a boy?

My grandma's maiden name was Gernet. I never got to meet her so I would love to incorporate the name into my future children's names. My grandmother was French so I think it's supposed to be pronounced Ger-nay, but I think Ger-nett is more practical today.

Which of these do you prefer? (Theo+Margo are rather just examples)

    Gernet Theodore

Gernett Theodore ( maybe easier to prnounce?)

    Margo Gernet

  • Looking for soft boys names?

I'm looking for boys names that are a bit softer and not as harsh and masculine but without them being feminine.

Examples: Carlisle, Silas, Enzo, Enoch, Callum, Graham, Leif, Osias, Elam

those are all names that have that softer sound to them (in my opinion)

names I don't like because they are too harsh:

Anything with an x: Jaxon, Dixon, Dexter, Alex/Alexander, Xaver, Xander, Knox, Huxley, Maddox, Lennox etc.

Ryder, Ryker or anything of that sort also Jagger, Gunner, Hunter

    you get the idea

Do you know any softer names I might like?

  • Can you please suggest some similar names?

I'm looking to expand my list of baby names. I recently read Sybilla, Martha and Enoch in a question on here and I loved them!

Do you maybe know any names that are similar to Sybilla, Martha and Enoch? I'm looking for that old-fashioned feel, names that are familiar but not really used that much today.

    Thank you so much :)

  • Surname change?

I'm getting married soon and I have trouble with the surnames.

I really like my surname and I don't wanna take my fiance's name as it's a double barreled name (his parent's weren't married when he was born), and I also feel like I'd be giving a part of myself up to become his "property". I can't double barrel either, just imagine someone with a name like Smith-Williamson-Gilbert...

The only option would be for my fiance and me to create a new name from our surnames and both take it. I feel like that's a great way to start a family, because we make a new surname, that is entirely our own. No one would have to sacrifice more than the other.

I won't share our surnames for privacy reasons, but could you tell me which one of these merged surnames sounds the best?

  • Berthora Jane or Theodota Jane?

    For my character?

    She's about 23, lives in 1627, England.

She's oppressed by her 4 brothers and father and thus agrees to many relationships with men that flatter her in order to get away from her family by marrying. She becomes pregnant pre-marriage and kills her newborn child, after which she completely snaps and kills the rest of her family.

Then she spends 30 years running from persecution.

Now that you have an idea of her, which name fits her better?

  • Why does everyone hate the name Bertha?

I really don't get it. I think it's a very cute name. Bertha Elise, Bertha Irene and Bertha Penelope are names that sound so nice to me, but every time I mention them to anyone they tell me Bertha is horrible!

Why are other "old-fashioned" names accepted by most people but Bertha isn't???

  • I need a name for a story I'm writing?

The thing is I'm pretty much set on the name but I want to see what other people would name this character.

The character I'm talking about is a witch, she is about 24, lived a looong time ago (600 years+). She has dark brown hair, piercing green eyes and very pale skin. She is gentle and loving but when threatened or provoked turns very determined and exacting in her plans. From the following names, which one fits her best?

    The surname is Rathmore

Opalina, Fidelia, Aspen, Aenwyn, Rosina, Ingrid, Callista, Avalon

    Her brother is Caspar Ruthmore

  • What do you think of these boys names that end in "ford"?

If I shall ever have a son I want to give him a name that ends in "ford". I think names that end in that sound have that old-fashioned vibe which I just adore. My grandfather's name also ends in "ford" (Clifford) so it would be a lovely tribute to him. And isn't Ford as a nickname just so adorable?
