Should I do it?
Alright, now that I've got your attention, here's my situation.
I currently live at home and I have to move out by next year. I decided since the world's my oyster and there's no limits as to where I can go, I might as well save up some extra cash and take a move to Florida.
What I've considered:
I'm currently building up credit so I'll be able to rent without a co-signer.
I have reliable transportation.
By the time I'm moved out, I should have around $10,000 saved.
I made calls about how much it would cost to rent a moving vehicle, the mileage involved, the price of gas involved, towing my vehicle, the daily fee, what movers charge per hour, and how long it would take to unload the vehicle. After everything is said and done, I'm looking at roughly $2,600 to move.
I've calculated how much it would cost to live there per month, and I'm looking at around $2,545.
I will visit down there for 4 days to get an idea of what's around the area, to look at the rental property itself, to get an idea of what jobs are located in the area and how long it would take to commute from the rental property to work. It's always good to be prepared.
Therefore I'll be able to get down there, I'll be able to afford the costs of moving there, I'll either put down a security deposit or have enough credit to rent without a co-sign, and I'll have enough money saved to live off of for 4 months while looking for work, although I expect to line up a job first.
Do you think I'm prepared?
1 AnswerOther - United States7 years agoWhat is the difference between mutual funds and compounding interest?
I understand what compounding interest is; the magic of compounding, of course! When you deposit a certain amount of money and it stacks on itself annually, more depending on the amount deposited at the beginning and the amount deposited monthly, or annually, if any.
However, I don't understand what mutual funds are. I'm reading on it now and I'm being told instances such as "starting when you're 20, depositing $50 a month until you're 65 and you'll be a millionaire". I don't understand. Do you?
3 AnswersInvesting7 years agoMy girlfriend is ignoring my texts, someone please answer?
Let me give you the basics:
I'm 20, she's 17.
We live in different states and met online via Skype with a mutual friend. We've never met.
We've only skyped once and talked on the phone a few times, but one time we were on the phone for 7 hours together..
We've been texting on and off for two years, on average a few times a week. Usually when we talk we'll talk almost everyday.
The more important part:
She wants to go on vacation with her friend and her friend's boyfriend in July and wants to take me. It would just be us 4. If she lost interest in me, she wouldn't have asked ME to go, and wouldn't have been excited about sleeping together. I'll see her on Facebook or Twitter AFTER I send a text, and she won't respond sometimes, or she'll say "sorry babe, I was at work and just got off" or "I'm really sorry, I got distracted watching tv" trivial things like that.
If she lost interest in me, she wouldn't have invited me to be the only guy to go to Florida with her. She would have picked someone else or wouldn't have invited me. And it's clear she's ignoring my texts, you can't get on Facebook or Twitter on your phone but NOT see someone text you. If I was important to her (which she claims I'm extremely important to her), then why would she ignore my texts? Whenever I see her text me or respond to me, I instantly reply...maybe I'm just more interested.
I'd prefer for women to answer because they can probably relate, but guys are welcome to as well. Thanks.

1 AnswerSingles & Dating7 years agoCan you freeze organic fruit right after you buy it?
I just went to Whole Foods and purchased quite a bit of fresh (mostly organic) fruit; strawberries, blueberries, mango slices, pineapple, etc. I'd like to use them to make shakes/smoothies, but it burned a hole in my wallet and I'd like to space out my use periodically instead of eating $25 worth of produce in one week. I can't do that.
So, can I freeze the fruit right after purchasing it? Or should I wait until it's about to go bad to freeze it? Also, are there any fruits you shouldn't freeze? Thanks!

1 AnswerOther - Food & Drink7 years agoHow to get a buzzed facial hair look?
So this is what my current 'beard' (not much of one, I'm aware) looks like:
http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/0ver90...
And here's the look I'm trying to achieve:
http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/0ver90...
If you know how to achieve this look, tell me. My sideburns and beard are thicker than they look in the picture, I brushed them out so you had an idea of what I have to 'play with'.
I'd assume you treat it like you would the hair on your head, using a '1' or a '2' on a buzzer like you're giving it a sort of 'fade' or 'buzzed' look. Am I right? Am I wrong? Let me know :)

1 AnswerHair7 years agoShould I get a classic Beetle?
I'm 20 years old. I just bought a Miata for $3,450 two weeks ago. I love the car and I have plans for it, but originally I wanted an old Beetle. Yes, I realize they're impractical, uncomfortable and unsafe, and you have to constantly pay attention to it, but none of that bothers me. Easier said than done, but I believe ownership of one would make up for all of that. What would you do? Keep the Miata or sell it and purchase an old Beetle?

1 AnswerBuying & Selling7 years agoTransferring Car Titles Out of State? HELP?
Here's my situation: Private seller, buying it from his state (Kentucky) and I live in Ohio.
With state to state rules aside, how would I purchase the vehicle?
I can only meet up with him after 5 pm, and and the BMW closes at 4:30 on weekdays.
The notary office closes at 7 pm, and I still won't have enough time to make it there.
So if both of those offices are closed, would I be able to drive the vehicle home and take care of business in Ohio without going back to Kentucky?
4 AnswersInsurance & Registration7 years agoAre Pre-70's Beetles difficult to own?
I'm 20 years old and I'm highly considering getting one as, yes, a daily driver. I don't need any useless comments about how you think they're unsafe, unreliable, old, or rusty because that's your opinion, and frankly it's incorrect.
I'd like answers from people who actually OWN or HAVE OWNED a classic Beetle. I'm in the $3,500 price range - this is the link to it. What do you think?
I would basically like to know if they break down often as long as you perform preventative maintenance such as valve adjustments, brake adjustments, and regular oil changes.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs7 years agoHow do Savings Account Rates Work?
I'm using this website to determine the annual rate based on a 60-month Certificate of Deposit (CD).
https://online.schwabbank.com/rateTable.do?25780a2...
Hypothetically, if I were to open an account at Charles Schwab and deposit $50,000 into it, would it look at follows:
5 years - 50,000 times 0.55 = 27,500
27,500 plus 50,000 = 77,500
10 years - 77,500 times .55 = 42,625
42,625 plus 77,500 = 120,125
15 years - 120,125 times .55 = 66,068.75
66,068.75 plus 120,125 = 186,193.75
Or am I doing something wrong?
1 AnswerPersonal Finance7 years agoSmoking one joint a week (sorry for asking again, please answer)?
I haven't smoked weed in a couple months and I was never a heavy user. But if I put a gram (of good weed) in a joint and just smoke ONE GRAM A WEEK, will my tolerance build up? Or by the time the next week comes around, would it be out of my system?
I'm an experienced user and very educated on the subject, but I'm not too sure if it would stay in my system if I'm smoking one gram a week. I feel like it would.
Experienced users only, no idiots saying it stays in your system for 30 days no matter what, you have no idea what you're talking about. I want people who actually know what they're talking about. Thanks!
**ALSO PLEASE READ: I'm not trying to pass a drug test. I'm wondering if, by the time the next week comes around, I'll be fully functional again (mentally) because weed, let's be honest here, can slow you down if you use it often. I'm simply asking if a one gram joint a week would bog me down over time or not.**

5 AnswersAlternative Medicine7 years agoHow to straighten curly/wavy hair?
Yes, I'm a guy, not a girl. Ever since I buzzed my hair, it's been growing a lot straighter, but it's really thick hair so I'll thin it down about once a month and try to keep the length going. It's getting pretty annoying. I just want straighter, thinner hair.
Basically, I'm curious if there are any products (that maybe I could order online) that thin down or straighten thick, curling hair.
This is about what my hair looks like: http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/0ver9000/media/A...
As you see, it's pretty thick on the sides, but it kind of looks like I have straight hair. If I let it grow, it gets terribly wavy, and I'm tired of it. Any links would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
2 AnswersHair7 years agoIs partying honestly worth it?
I haven't partied too much, but enough to know what to expect. I just celebrated New Years with my buddies and got pretty smashed. I'm only 20 years old, so I'm into the whole 'college partying' thing. I felt like sh*t afterwards though, like I ALWAYS do, and told myself I wouldn't be partying for a while longer...or maybe even again. I tell myself this every damn time! And when I get invited to a party, I just can't turn it down. It's hard to.
Basically, I just got invited to a 'Kick off the New Years' RAGER, and I'm unsure of whether I should attend or not. I already told the guy I'd go (FB invite) and he's expecting me. I know I'm gonna have a blast, but I'm sure I'll feel like complete trash the next day or two. I'm unsure of whether to attend or not.
