  • Why Romney's Gaffe Matters?

Mitt Romney has trouble connecting with everyday Americans. No matter how hard he tries he cannot make average people feel as if he’s empathetic. Maybe it’s that he ran a hedge fund, maybe it’s that his father was wealthy as well, maybe it’s that he’s never really held a blue collar job or truly felt the need to earn money.

And by that last line, I mean the need, not the want, to earn money. More and more Americans are feeling that than ever before--the hovering deadline of a bill and the knowledge that you may not have enough money to pay one bill because you have to pay another.

As I’m sure you know, Romney said that he doesn’t worry about such people because there’s a safety net. This is contradictory to his own parties beliefs. Most conservatives feel as if there shouldn’t be a safety net at all, and if it must be there, that there should be as few people on it as possible. So why not care about these poor people, who Romney and other conservatives use when convenient to explain that Obama is an unsuccessful president, and do whatever he can do get them out of the pit of poverty and off these government programs?

The answer is because he doesn’t know how. He doesn’t know how to care for these people because he cannot empathize with them. He doesn’t know what it feels like to be poor, he doesn’t know what it feels like to have to either go under a government program or lose your home or have to skip meals to save money.

So I suppose my question here is, do you agree with my sentiments? Do you believe that Romney really can't empathize with the poorest of Americans?

  • Why do cons mistake who's uncertain about the future?

While sure, major corporations are uncertain about the future, they are making record profits and are sitting on trillions of dollars. You don't get trillions if you aren't making a profit.

The people who are really uncertain are the poor and middle class, the drivers of our economy and the main purchasers of durable and non durable goods. I never hear conservatives upset at rising the burden of these tax payers. Sure, the rich pay the most percentage of our taxes, but they also hold the most wealth. That's simple math, if you own more you pay more.

Because of the favoring of the wealthy under the guise that they are the main movers and shakers in our economy the middle class has become alienated, and because there is no social investment growth in their area, when they need it the most, they are becoming more and more uncertain of the future. Any economist can tell you that if they don't have confidence they won't go out and buy those big ticket items such as homes or cars.

So why not put all of our confidence in the middle class at this time while pushing the burden to those who can afford it? (I know you'll say it'll ruin the incentive to become wealthy yourself, but that's just anti-capitalist. You'll make money no matter the situation, because you want it and you need it)

  • Do conservatives WANT the economy to recover or not?

From most of the vibe I've been hearing from talk radio and other conservatives they seem to focus only on the downsides of our economy, and are almost relishing the fact that there's a recession simply because they're not in the White House. So, do you want a recovery, or do you want the economy to lag at least until 2012 so you can get an easy win? Be honest.

  • If corporations are people, why don't they pay the same taxes as you and I?

The courts have time and time again issued the opinion that corporations are people too, however, corporations such as Exxon, GE, Citigroup, Carnival Cruises, Bank of America and so on pay little to no taxes in the US, and in most cases receive tax breaks and refunds from the IRS. So, if corporations are people, and people pay at least 25 percent taxes, why aren't the corporations being held to the same standard as every other "person" in the US?

    What should be done?

  • Why is it when Cons win it's the will of the people but Dems win they're not listening?

I don't understand how conservatives can say that they're just doing the will of the people because they were elected into office and therefore can do whatever they please--but when Democrats were elected and tried to pass a heath care bill that their candidate ran on as a campaign promise, they weren't listening? The Wisconsin union thing is a great example, most of the polls said people were against Walker and his decisions, yet he was apparently just listening to the people who elected him in.

So, please, explain this to me.

  • graphing trig questions?

Very confused here. I've found examples of questions like mine but never exactly the same so it gets me confused.

    y=-4 sin (2/3 x - pi/3) + 3

usually the questions I've seen don't have the second part of that parenthesis, just one number in there. I know the amplitude is 4, I still need to know whether it's flipped, the period and the phase and vertical shifts. Please help, and any explanations would be extremely appreciated.

  • unexplainable Lag issues while streaming?

    http://www.speedtest.net/result/1178355565.png

I have a pretty good upload and download, well beyond what's necessary to stream. However, whenever I stream and play Halo 3 I drop into redbar, where the game lags horribly. The strange thing is, whenever this happens I'll get a great download/upload speed from speedtest.net and the stream itself won't lag a bit, which typically happens whenever your connection itself is having issues. I have no idea what's going on here, it never happened before, I streamed for months and months with the same isp and everything without any issues whatsoever. The only thing different is a new laptop, which is what sparked this issue. Is the laptop to blame? My modem? I even bought a new wireless router so that isn't it, and a brand new ethernet cord going to my Xbox, and I don't even stream wirelessly.

I use FME, upload is usually 1200kb, which gives me a good 2MB simply for Halo
