While living in an apartment complex near the University I was studying in, I always paid my part of the bills on time. I took care of the electricity. I was living with 3 other girls. When the academic year drew to a close, we closed out our contract in the apartment complex, or so we thought. Because of some technicality (we told them about our move out date, we didn't write it- apparently the policy "conveniently" changed that year), we had to rent out the apartment space for another month. We had all moved out, so we just paid up and went our separate ways. What I never knew was that one of the roommates decided to use the apartment for that additional month without telling me. She never checked the mail either- this is where the electricity bill come in. So about 9 months later, I get a call from ER Solutions (debt collection agency) to tell me about an unpaid bill. After much confusion, I finally understood the situation (what I have been writing here). I had to pay up for my roommates horrible miscommunication fluster.

The question is: This is going to affect my credit score obviously. Is there anyway to clear this mess up? Or rather, is it possible? I don't want this roommate to ruin it for me.

i need to find a linux server space, ideally one that also does web hosting.

i have been posting my existing website through my university, so it was easier. I am a newbie in this domain-server world, so its a tad complicated figuring things out right now.
