I was a teenager ten years before that, but I noticed that all my college friends, circa 1988, seemed to have a copy of Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album, which was released in 1976. Even the serious metalheads either had a copy or didn't mind listening to it. I'm writing a story set in 1996 and wondering if there was an album with such widespread appeal at the time.

Ex-husband attacks ex-wife physically inside her house. Two of ex-wife's friends in backyard come in when they hear the noise. One friend pulls the ex-husband away and hits him to subdue him while second friend calls the cops. Two questions: 1) Would the friend who hit the ex-husband and knocked him out be arrested? 2) Would all parties have to go to the police station to be interviewed, or would the responding officers merely ask them questions on the spot? (Assume the attacker goes to the hospital and will be interrogated there.)

Does anything change if the friend was skilled in martial arts?

What about if the second friend (who saw the ex-husband attacking the ex-wife) was an off-duty detective and was not carrying his gun?

Desktop is 2 years old and out of warranty, so I can't even contact HP support for advice. The detailed log says that my system memory failed the "bit high test" and "checkerboard test" and both tests state, "Failed address is on AO - Bank 0/1." Should I take the thing to the computer shop for repair/ replacement of memory, or is that likely to be ridiculously expensive?

Is it possible for someone to go into physical shock (low blood pressure, dilated pupils, cold skin, the whole bit - usually caused by serious blood loss or other medical condition) when they're in extreme emotional crisis? For example, if someone has a flashback to a time when they were physically attacked?

Would love to hear from some medical professionals here.

I'm running Windows XP; when I'd put a new program CD into the D: drive before, InstallShield Wizard would automatically start setting up the new program. Recently, I tried installing some new games for my kids, and NOTHING HAPPENS. I uninstalled a game we were using last week and tried to reinstall it, and again nothing. It just sits in the D: drive.

I'm looking specifically for poems written by New Zealanders before 1987, and I'd prefer personal recommendations, as in, "I like this," instead of links to wiki or Poetry NZ (already checked those). Yeah, I know... I'm making it tough. Sorry about that. I'd really love your input.

I know this sounds dumb, but my son wants some -- and I don't know where to look! I could probably find something online, but I was really thinking of some store I could just walk into. (No, there are no sports memorabilia shops in our small town. There are some sporting goods stores within driving distance. Didn't kids used to be able to buy these at the drugstore?)

Our sons LOOOOOOVE NASCAR. We'd like to take them to Martinsville, or even some local races. They hate the foam earplugs because they feel weird and fall out. We might be willing to spend some money on this, but not over $50 for both. Are there any earplugs recommended by parents out there?

Just sent a cashier's check for an eBay item (small bucks, used kid clothing). Seller new to eBay, doesn't have a Paypal account set up. Seller says she has received the check and will ship when check clears. I'm thinking, Whaaaa? A cashier's check is like cash. Is she nuts, or am I?
