Does this make sense? Cigarettes are a known danger, they kill people, but you can go to any store and buy them as long as you are old enough. To buy color contact lenses, you need to go to a doctor, have them check you out, and then they will issue you a prescription to buy the lenses. Usually they make it a hassle with the prescription so that you buy the lenses through them.

Why is one dangerous item (cigarettes) not regulated, but a harmless item (contact lenses) overly regulated?

For a little while I was using Cox cable for my internet service. When I switched to them their "COX" logo appeared at the top right corner of internet explorer.

I am no longer using them but the logo is still there. I removed everything having to do with Cox but it still remains.

What did I miss? How do I get rid of the logo?

I just did some cleaning on my computer, and now a new version of yahoo's home page comes up. I cannot find how to switch back.

I am not talking about Yahoo's email, but the main home page.

I love the field of psychiatry and I would like to be a psychiatrist one day. I am wondering what I can do to work in the field now, gain some experience, gain some knowledge, and make some money to pay for college.

Last week, a couple of programs stopped responding. The cooling fan went up to full speed (as it usually does in situations like this) and I had to ctrl+alt+delete to close the programs. The computer will now not shut off unless I pull the battery, and the fan tends to want to be at high speed.

The fan has changed speed at times, so I know the fan is not the problem. There was even one day when the computer seemed to be functioning properly but that was only the second or third day after the first incident. Since then, the computer seems to be acting as if there is a program that is locked and not responding.

Pulling the battery has not fixed the problem.

I did scans with Norton 360, Spy-ware doctor, and Spy-bot, also did disk clean up, and defrag and the situation has not changed.

Any ideas of what is wrong?

Someone was downloading smiley faces and every tool bar to my computer.

Computer got infected and it was shut down before removal scan was completed.

Computer will not boot. It will NOT boot to normal mode OR safe mode.

I am running Windows XP.

I have Norton 360 and Spyware doctor and both do not have a recovery disk.

I am looking for a rescue program that will run automatically from a CD since my computer won't boot. I will change the startup order to start the CD drive first.

Someone (I will not say who) was downloading every smiley face in the world and got a virus. My computer will not restart now. It goes to a black screen saying there was a problem, and it ask if I want to start in safe mode or normal mode. Either way it goes to the blue error screen, and then the whole process starts again. I have Spyware doctor and Norton 360, but I still got this virus. Is there some anti virus I can burn on a disc, and then get my computer to automatically run it when I start up? I looking for any option other that doing a whole system recovery and lose all my files.

I think the movie was from the mid 80's. A guy from the past is chasing someone evil (demon, vampire, devil,... not sure) that is trying to get all the pieces of a book that was torn into a few pieces. Inside the book was the name of god (I think) and when it is spoken, it will be the end of the world (I think all creation will be reversed).

The good guy from the past is getting help from a woman from present time. She has diabetes (at one point she stabs the evil guy with her syringes).

They are trying to get all the pieces of the book before the evil guy.

I remember one part of the book was burried in a cemetary.

There is also another part where they get help from an amish farmer.

Any ideas?
