  • How to compost fish to obtain skeleton?

I found a deceased fish on my lake today and it s in pretty good shape (entire body is intact). It s a nice size, and I m wondering if there s a way to get the skeleton. Would composting be a good option? Will that get rid of most of the flesh? What other options are there?

  • Can you reword this essay prompt?

I have an essay prompt for my English research paper and I'm having a hard time understanding it. I'm trying to reword it but also having a hard time doing that.

This is the part we have to answer:

Write an essay that investigates how three of the texts we’ve read reveal a focus on the individual by appearing to salvage and tease out precisely those elements of the larger community whose presence gives rise to the character’s sense of self.

    This is the entire prompt:

In each of the texts we’ve read, the coming of age experience sheds light on the individual v. community theme. Embedded in this theme is each author’s presentation of a central character who seeks to find a way to fuse his/her personal identity with the identity of the community that shapes him or her. As you well know, the transition from child to adolescent to adult is fraught with complex situations and experiences that, at some point, necessitate the individual’s conscious or unconscious separation from an assured and given communal context, resulting in problems of mediation, representation and self-confidence. With these ideas in mind, write an essay that investigates how three of the texts we’ve read reveal a focus on individual by appearing to salvage and tease out precisely those elements of the larger community whose presence gives rise to the character’s sense of self.

  • How to get my phone to charge?

My phone went to 1% today so I put it on the charger but apparently that didn't do anything because when I turned it on it was still at 1%. I plugged it in again with it on and it said it was charging but it died again. Now it won't turn on but when I plug in the charger a red dot flashes a few times at the top of the phone. What does that mean and how do I get my phone to charge?

  • Is my laptop compatible with Microsoft Office 2010?

My laptop is a HP Pavilion TouchSmart and came with a free trial of Office 365, however, I do not wish to purchase that version. If I purchase Microsoft Office 2010, would it work on my laptop even though it seems to want me to use Office 365?

If yes, when I purchase Microsoft Office 2010, would it have a product key to download the program from online? My laptop does not have an optical (disc) drive. Will this be an issue?

  • Potted Plant Soil Mold?

I have four potted plants in my room (small succulents and a dwarf evergreen) and the soil keeps developing what appears to be white mold. It's new potting soil and I'm using filtered water, why is this happening and how can I stop it from occurring again? The plants are in indirect sunlight, but I don't think that's a factor in this case.

Can you please explain to me what a Work Study exactly is? How does it work? Are you working to pay off the amount on the Award Letter or are you working to have your own money or both?

  • Is algae beneficial/neutral/harmful?

I have a fifteen gallon aquarium with five neon tetras, one dwarf gourami and two ghost shrimp. It is moderately planted (artificial plants) and has a bubble strip, a heater and a medium-sized decorative log.

The tank has been stocked for about four and some months, with the most recent event being the restocking of three tetras early January (to bring the school from two to five).

The tank has since had an issue with algae which seemed to begin with growth on the heater, but soon there was beard algae on the rocks, plants, and glass (unless the glass has green dust algae).

My main question is if this algae is primarily bad? Does it disrupt nutrient levels? The fish aren't acting any differently and have looked at the same health and color since the algae began to grow mid-late January. The shrimp definitely like it because they can be seen eating it off the plants as a food source.

I do not wish to purchase an algae-eating fish or snails.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Name of Social Phenomenon?

It's a cycle. Something is popular, so people see it, making it popular, so people see it, and so on.

    Examples:

    1) The Shawshank Redemption is at the top of the IMDb Top 250 chart. Because of it being at the top, more people will see it due to its placement at #1 on the list and will watch it, keeping it at the top.

    2) Someone famous arises, and because they are famous, they become known by more and more people, which increases this person's fame.

When something increases in popularity simply because it's popular? Is there a term? I really don't know how to describe it any other way! Thank you!

  • Hermit Crab Companion?

I've had my hermit crab for about 8 months now and he's active (sometimes he just sits back and wipes the water off the glass, as he's doing now even though his water dish is right next to him) but I feel like he could use a little company. I've read that they are good in small groups. He's about 2" big, so should I try to get a hermit crab about 2" big? If I get one larger will it hurt him? If I get one smaller will he hurt that one? He has one house right now, should I get another one or can they share? Thanks!

  • Tetra/Gourami Tank Water Change?

I have a Tetra/Gourami/Shrimp tank, and my weekly water change is 20%. Can I take out the 20% of water by using a gravel hose to clean the gravel? There are also fake plants in the tank, can I take those out when I do the water change so I can clean that gravel too? Thanks.

  • Tetra/Gourami Tank: Live or Artificial Plants?

I'm working on creating a tetra/gourami tank (5 tetras, 1 gourami and 2 ghost shrimp (possibly)), and I've come across a roadblock: the plants. I've read that live plants are the way to go, and I'd love to do a tank with just live plants, but unfortunately they are way too expensive. Are there any downsides to fake plants only, especially since this is a tropical freshwater tank? I might get one or two live plants along with some fake plants, but I've also read not to mix and match. Any ideas? Is there a type of live plant that can grow large enough to only need to buy one or two? I've read that, for gouramis and tetras, java ferns and certain types of sword plants are good for the tank. Being a 10 gallon tank, some of the room will be left open and driftwood and hiding places can take a majority of the space up. How many live plants / fake/life combinations would you suggest, and what types of plants will work best? Thanks!

  • Dwarf Gourami and Tetra tank?

My plan is to get 5 tetras and 1 gourami. They will be in a tank with a base of 20" x 10". I have two tanks with the same base but one is 10 gallons and one is 14 gallons because it's taller.

    - What type of tetra is compatable with dwarf gouramis? I know neon tetras are fine, but I'm wondering if I can get Red Minor Tetras. They grow to the same size as neons, but they have long flowing fins. I've read that gouramis will attack any fish with long fins, is this true?

    .

    - How should I plant the tank? With live plants or with fake, or can I do a combination of both? Should they be tall plants? Also, I have gravel from my last tank that I've cleaned, and it's just small smooth stones. Is this okay?

    - Can I get ghost shrimp, snails or loaches? I'm thinking of getting ghost shrimp, but I've also read they might be attacked by the gourami, but I'd have a lot of hiding spaces for them. Can I get shrimp? How many would be fine? I've had snails before and they're good at cleaning but shrimp are something I haven't had before.

    - Anything else I should know?

    Thank you!

  • Neon Tetra tank ideas?

I have a ten gallon leader tank that I would like to stock. I read that neon tetras would be a good choice for the tank, and I've seen numbers for fish in the tank range from 6-8, and I am most likely going to go with 6. When it comes to 'tank companions,' I read that Cory Catfish are a good idea, as they will keep the tank clean. Should I get a Cory? I read that they like to be kept in schools of 6, but are fine being one or two. Should I get one or two? Also, what are some good substrates and plants for a neon tetra tank? Thank you!

  • Scholarship questions?

    1. If you receive a scholarship, does this mean that it counts towards freshman year of college only or do you receive that amount each year you attend college.

    2. Do you have to use the scholarship a specific year? As in, if you are attending a community college and can pay for it, but then afterwards are attending an expensive college, can you use the scholarship to pay for the expensive college (junior and senior year upon transfer) or must it be used freshman year no matter where you go.

    3. Is there a limit on how many scholarships you can apply to / receive?

    4. Can you apply to and receive scholarships every year of college?

    Thank you!

  • Can other classes affect your college acceptance?

    Scenario:

You plan to major in Anatomy in College

You took Anatomy Junior Year of High School and received a 100% for the year

You also took Pre-Calculus Junior Year, but received a 75% for the year

Due to not having a lot of strength in Pre-Calculus, will this affect your being accepted into a college even when you plan to major in Anatomy?

  • Will a community college increase GPA?

If you attend a Community College, will the school you apply to (and intend to transfer to) after you finish Community College look at the GPA you received from the Community College or from your Junior Year of High School? Will attending a Community College increase your High School GPA? (As in, if you leave HS with a 3.4 GPA and increase it to a 3.5 GPA at Community College, will that be your 'new' GPA)?

I really don't know how to word this question correctly, so any advice helps!

    Thank you!

If you could help me figure out one of these it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    1. Consider the following sets of consecutive integers: (10, ...,20) and (21,.....,30). Each element of the first set is multiplied, in turn, by each element of the second set. Find the sum of all of these products.

    2. Let a, b and c be integers whose square roots are the lengths of the sides of a right triangle. What is the least possible value of the sum of a+b+c?
