  • How do I tell my kids that we need to put our dog to sleep?

I need the actual words to use. I am at a loss. It won't come completely out of the blue for them, since they know she's quite old and hasn't been doing well. We've talked about it a bit. But now my ex and I have decided on a time and place and it's really for real now. My son is quite sensitive and still gets rather sad about the loss of our dog's brother 12 years ago when they were still puppies. My daughter will be sad too, though she has expressed that it's hard for her to see our dog the way she is now.

Normally, I'm rather good at helping others with problems like this, but this is my dog, my family and my grief. It's so much harder when it's you, you know?

  • Looking for Old Cookie Recipe?

My mom had this Betty Crocker cooky book, where each page had the title "Best Cooky of 19xx" or something like that. Each page had some historical fact or trivia in the bottom corner that pertained to the time period. The front cover of the book looked like a red and white gingham tablecloth. I'm looking for the chocolate chip cookie recipe. I think it was supposedly the "best cooky of 1935" or somewhere close to that. And I think the interesting fact(s) on the page were something to do with Roy Rogers and/or someting to do with the Prince of Wales giving up his throne for an American.

    Does anyone have that recipe?

  • How to explain gratitude to my 10-year-old daughter?

I struggle w/ my finances, but am blessed to have parents & in-laws who make it possible for me to do fun things for my kids, give them treats, etc. The problem is, that my daughter has seemed so ungreatful lately. Nothing's ever good enough. I offer her $1 for a treat, she wants something that's $2. I say we can go to the discount movies, she wonders why we can't go to the regular theater? I say she can swim for 30 min., she says why can't it be an hour? I have ended up in tears because I am so frustrated and angry. I feel bad for sarcastically saying that if I won $1million, she'd be pissed it wasn't $1 billion. I have tried so hard to instill gratitude in her and have failed miserably. I hope this is just a phase, but I feel strongly that if I don't nip this attitude in the bud right now, that it will just get worse. I can theorize all I want about how she got this way (one reason could be her father's & my impending divorce) but I need to know how to fix it!

  • I need to contact nickelodeon.com re: their Slime Across America.?

I want to speak to or correspond with someone from Nickelodeon who can help me. No matter what suggestion I try, I am directed to the area of Nick.com where kids can simply post messages publicly and receive public replies. Even if they read it, it can't include my personal contact info. because anyone and everyone could see it.
