Why is Lebron James considered one of the best defensive players?
Lebron was the runner up for the defensive player of the year, but his defensive statistics aren't that good. He does have decent numbers for steals (8th in leauge) and is somewhere inside the top 100 for blocks, but he is not a good on the ball defender and never defends the best player on the court. He has developed his flop pretty good this year so maybe that is what is considered to be the most important defensive skill. Has Lebron's hype gotten so big that people can just ignore the numbers and the fouls and just claim he is the best at everything, ever?

I was watching Lebron tonight, I found myself in foul trouble for looking at him. I guess I made too much eye contact. At least it was't as bad as some of the fouls they call for Lebron.

Lebron averaged only 1.72 fouls for the season, less than Jordan ever had in any single season. Sure he usually doesn't guard an offensive threat, but from charges alone he should have more than that. Is the leauge telling refs to blatantly change the rules for him or are NBA refs just that bad. My question is what should the NBA do to stop this embarassmant. I guess the NBA makes more money with Lebron getting every call, but it seems it will be detrimental in the long run if numerous fans stop watching all together because they want to see a fair game not professional wrestling. Opinions?
5 AnswersBasketball1 decade agoDoes the entire cavs team get more calls because of lebron?
The 3 second call today against Orlando got me thinking. So lebron obviously is treated like a special little snowflake by the refs but I have never seen an entire team get superstar call like this. Does the NBA actually tell the refs they want the cavs to get home court so their baby can make the finals. The refs are so one sided they must have a plan.
