How do you feel about Obama's Dept of Homeland Sec profiling military vets yet refusing to profile muslims?
How do you feel about Obama's Dept of Homeland Sec profiling military vets yet refusing to profile muslims? Does Janet Napolitano feel that ex military are a bigger threat than domestic Islamic fundamentalists?
The NY Post correctly points out, "The report warns that "the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists . . . carrying out violent acts."
The document's evidence? None. It contains no hard data, no statistics. It's nothing but a racist, anti-military opinion column that might pass muster in The New York Times, but shouldn't be issued by our government.
The report adds that "rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans" who "possess combat skills." The point? Our hayseed, uneducated, unskilled, wacko vets aren't able to think for themselves and will be patsies for right-wing fanatics. Guess that's how things look from Harvard.
Then the report warns us that "a prominent civil-rights organization reported in 2006 that 'large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis, skinheads, and other white supremacists are now learning the art of warfare in the armed forces.' "
Which civil-rights organization? The Rev. Jeremiah Wright's? Why not name it? Why accept this bigoted hearsay? Where's the proof? Where's the data? "
And where are those "large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis," anyway? Last time I checked, American Nazis had trouble mustering a couple dozen overweight losers in Halloween costumes.

With newspapers in trouble in many markets, would it make sense for them to subsidize a device like Kindle?
With Internet and electronic distribution clearly looking as the wave of the future would not it be smart for newspapers to subsidize a digital device such as Kindle in return for a one or two year commitment by the customer. This strategy has clearly worked with cellphones Why not try it with the printed media?

How do you feel about Obama forcing CEO of GM Rick Wagoneer out but not forcing union to make any concession?
How do you feel about Obama forcing CEO of GM Rick Wagoneer out but not forcing union to make any concession? How will forcing Wagoneer out solve a problem related to an average price of vehicle being build in a unionized factory being $3,000 more than a one being build in a non-unionized factory.
Do you find it extremely disturbing that Obama can go out and practically control a private enterprise?
PS. Do not use an argument that Rick Wagoneer was doing a bad job because that is up to the board and the shareholders to decide. (I think he did a fabulous job but his hands were tied by previous management. He was able to close factories and buy out unionized labor).

4 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoShould Obama fire Geithner for suggesting/agreeing that USD should be replaced by a new global currency?
Timothy Geithner was quoted at the Council on Foreign Relations as being "open" to Governor of China's central bank proposal for a new global currency to replace the dollar. According to politico.com, Mr. Geithner also said that "We’re actually quite open to that suggestion – you should see it as rather evolutionary rather building on the current architecture rather than moving us to global monetary union." Should Mr. Geithner be immediately fired for this suggestion since one of his responsibilites is the defend the USD and the US economy?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs Bernie Frank a combinat. of economic success of AIG, the ethics of Enron and accountability of Ruth Madoff?
Michael Graham of Boston Herald calls Barney Frank an unmitigated disaster and asks whether Bernie Frank a combination of economic success of AIG, the ethics of Enron and accountability of Ruth Madoff.
The author points out that he sat on the regulation committee of Fannie while his partner was a senior exec there.
In 2003, he famously said that Freddie and Fannie were “not in a crisis,” that they were “fundamentally sound financially.” He repeated that expert testimony in 2005, all the while rejecting the argument that the taxpayers were responsible for Freddie and Fannie’s bills.
And in 2007, he actually proposed raising the caps on Fannie/Freddie’s portfolios - exposing taxpayers to even more risk - and then dumping the new money into (drum roll, please) even more subprime mortgages.
What's your take?

Do Gitmo terrorists have more intellectual integrity than Obama's administration?
They're telling us honestly who they are and why they seek to kill us.
On the other hand Obama who was pandering to the left promised to close down Gitmo. Now all of a sudden he is lost and does nto know where to place these terrorists.

1 AnswerPolitics1 decade agoWhy is Obama clamping down on news from Guantanamo? Do dems realize that they have the worst killers on hand?
Quoting The NY Post from 03/12/09 "...the pride and prejudice of Allah's butchers were on public display (again) this week. ","...filing released by a brave military judge that "We are terrorists to the bone" who regard the charges resulting from "the blessed 11 September operations" as "badges of honor."
Why is Obama clamping down on news from Guantanamo? Do dems realize that they have the worst killers on hand and do not know what to do with them? Do they now realize that being responsible for these hard-core terrorists is hard?
2 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoUnder Obama's mortgage plan, will many homeowners just stop paying their mortgage?
Now that under Obama's proposed plan, mortgage debt is essentially subsidized. NY Post states that "Instead of bailing out one in nine homeowners as the president's plan intends, US taxpayers could soon see the number of hardship cases grow exponentially."
On the other hand if the government figures out how to change the term of the existing "bad" mortgages, will it hinder US house market forever?
If investors stop buying mortgage securities, the banks will stop issuing new mortgages.
What investor in his right mind would buy a mortgage-backed security without demanding a hefty premium if he thinks there is a chance that his return might be reduced?
I am asking a lot of loaded questions here, I am curious what the responses are going tt be.

Now that Obama has decided to eliminate Guantanamo and try Sept, 11 attackers in the civil court, will we see more of this embarassing mockery of the justice system?

Bribery in the medical field is a major issue in countries with socialized health care. In fact The New York Times is profiling that in 03/09/09 paper. For those who are pro socialized medcare: if Obama were to socialize medical care, how would he prevent bribery and other financial kickbacks?

When Bush sent more troops to Iraq (surge), there was a huge anti-war and democratic party opposition. Isn't hypocritical that the anti-war Obama sends more troops to Afghanistan and nobody in the democratic/anti-war circles is protesting?
