Tom
I'm a half Black, half Hispanic High School student, and I attend a Military school in the South West of the United states. I enjoy Outdoor Activities, Political discussion, and Physical Challenge. I'm extremely politically driven and am passionate about Politics and Economics, as well as the Environment. I would describe my political views as Eco-Libertarian, in that I am an Environmentalist first and foremost, but other than that, believe in more Liberty, both in personal and economic freedom for Americans. In my Ideal society, Quality Education and Healthcare would be provided for everyone, but America can not afford to sustain this size of Government, let alone increase it.
Getting UK citizenship?
Alright, so I am an American Citizen and I am 17 years old. I moved to the United Kingdom when I was Five, shortly after 9/11 and I have been living in the UK ever since. My Father works for the US government and so we have some kind of visa to stay in the UK for as long as he works there, and we have access to all the government services of the UK.
My question is, is there any way that I could acquire British citizenship, since I've lived there for 12 years? If anyone could also outline the detail of how British citizenship is normally acquired, that would be fantastic.
4 AnswersImmigration7 years agoHow much are Private Military Contractors making these days? Will their salaries continue to decrease?
The days of making 300k a year back around 8-9 tears ago are gone certainly, but I'm sure they're still getting paid 6 figures.
Anyone with superior knowledge in the subject willing to shed some light on how much Blackwater (Academi), and Triple Canopy employees are getting paid?

Apparently a bill has been passed in Russia that would make telling children that homosexuality exist illegal.
7 AnswersRussia8 years agoSo we're likely to experience an economic depression in the next two decades, Texans I address this to you?
if you finally decide to somehow try and secede, is it asking so much that you take a few of the states surrounding you with you too? Texas has proven it can support itself, but as a matter of fact the four states surrounding texas are some of the worst drains on welfare in the country, particularly New Mexico and Louisiana. Missouri and Oklahoma aren't as bad but they're still dependent on the federal government. So could you take those states with you? Just take on for the team, texas. just this once.

4 AnswersPolitics8 years agoConservatives, can you guess who this quote comes from?
'Abandon free market principles, to save the free market system.'
This person also instigated 3 major tax cuts while expanding government by 70%.
This person increased some social programs by almost 100%
This person signed over 7 trillion dollars in prescription drug benefits.
This person DRASTICALLY increases domestic 'War on terror' spending.
This person backs bailouts for: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Airline Industry, Bear Sterns (A Global investment bank and securities trading/ brokerage firm), CITI Group (A multinational financial services Corporation), and AIG (A multinational INSURANCE corporation).
This person increases the debt to 10.8 trillion dollars.
This person increases federal spending by over 2,000 dollars PER HOUSEHOLD.
This person ushered in a new era of debt, bailouts, and spending unprecedented in America's history, and rivaled by only that of another even BIGGER| spender that comes after him.
Who is this person, Conservatives? Did you vote for him?
6 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWill Private Military Contractors still be offering high pay 20 years from now?
I'm young, and I have goals to to join the military and then join some sort of special forces unit. (My dream has always been to become a Navy SEAL). However, I'm also interested in Private Military Companies/ Contractors after service in the armed forces.
So, for those of you knowledgeable in the subject, do you predict that in 15-20 years from now Private Military Contractors/ Companies like Triple Canopy or Academi (Blackwater) will be offering high salaries?
All responses, opinions, and alternative predictions are welcome. Any incite into the matter is appreciated, thank you for your knowledge.
4 AnswersMilitary8 years agoWhy is Jim Porter such a typical ignorant Conservative?
Why does HE have to represent the Pro-Gun movement? I'm Pro-Gun, but there's no way I'd ever be a member of the NRA since they've been hijacked by Neo-Conservative nutjobs.
4 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhy do some people think that spending decreased under Reagan?
I'm seriously curious. With every president we've had the spending has increased. Certain presidents like Carter and Clinton succeed in either reducing the deficit or even creating a budget surplus, and Reagan did reform the income tax system. But under Reagan the debt soared to 4.7 trillion dollars, literally doubling the National debt. Government spending per household also increased by thousands of dollars under Reagan. So why do people think spending decreased? Especially since Cold war spending (which increased by 35%) is taken into account.
5 AnswersPolitics8 years agoShould we have a war on Syphilis rather than a war on terrorism, since Syphilis kills more people?
and Terrorism isn't curable no matter how many Authoritarian Liberty-violating policies are imposed on us?
3 AnswersPolitics8 years agoFormer Liberal here, and I'd like to ask a question of all current Liberals?
I suppose some may consider me a Liberal, but that's irrelevant at this point.
Liberals, I'm not some Neo-Con pr!ck. I understand that you have the best interests in mind, and I think that in some form, your ideal society would certainly be a pleasant one. It should remain an Ideal society, though.
Currently, we have a crisis within our government. Programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid will engulf a vast amount of government spending in the coming years, at the rate we are going, especially considering the growing population (that grows exponentially).
It is mathematically impossible, to keep up these entitlement programs up to a certain point, coupled in with the National Debt, and it is a recipe for total economic collapse.
We have already made promises to people that we must keep, but please, people, we CANNOT continue to make promises that we CANNOT keep. This must be understood. Whether Social Security is a good concept is neither here nor there, because when it comes down to it, we cannot sustain it. We can't. The same goes for Medicare and Medicaid.
We need to vastly re-evaluate the role of government in our society. Because here's what it comes down to: Either we radically change the way government operates (massive downsizing over 2-4 decades, perhaps even quicker if necessary), and some people WILL suffer, and perhaps die OR Government, and our Economy, completely collapses all together and MOST will suffer, MANY will die, we're talking about a Greater depression than THE great depression.
So Liberals, I implore you, to see reason on this issue in that it isn't a matter of right and wrong but simple sustainability. Also Conservatives, spending ridiculous sums of money on oil wars and 'fighting terrorism' isn't even worth addressing, such a stupid endeavor considering the fiscal crisis that approaches.
6 AnswersPolitics8 years agoWhat is wrong with me? I can't stop thinking about this girl?
And it doesn't feel like I can move on.
I know it's long, but please read anyway.
Okay, so I'm in high School right now, and I'm a Junior. There is a girl that I've sort of had a crush on for a LONG time, but never really thought it would work, so didn't think about it seriously.
A little more than a month ago one of my friends told me she liked me and I was over the moon, I had asked her to homecoming earlier on but she was dating someone long distance at the time, and he didn't give her permission. Anyway, we started talking quite often after my friend told me this, but sometimes I wouldn't respond to her texts (I'm very forgetful) and would rarely 'start the conversation'.
After a few weeks of hanging out and talking, she told me that she didn't feel that way about me. I was starting to suspect as much, but her telling me this still crushed me. We still talk often and sometimes I feel she likes me from the things she says, but I can never be sure.
So that's the background, The REAL problem is, for the past few weeks every time I think about her I've literally felt physical pain. I've always been nervous around her, and unable to think when I'm near her but now I add it on to this pain I feel.
I can't get her out of my head and I just know (because people have told me) that I messed up what we had because I didn't put enough effort into it. It kills me every time I think about her, it's horrible, and the pain never gets any better. Is this normal? I still would never want to be with any other girl, and I don't know why.
Please help, . Sorry for the length.

9 AnswersMilitary8 years agoConservatives, why do states with no minimum wage laws tend to be the poorest?
Or states with minimum wage laws lower than the federal minimum wage?
http://stateimpact.npr.org/idaho/files/2013/01/201... << That is a map of US states by Minimum wage law
http://247wallst.com/2012/09/20/americas-poorest-s... << This is a recent list of the top ten poorest states.
ALL FIVE states with no minimum wage laws are on the list, and one of the states with a lower minimum wage than the federal is on the list, and another on the list (Arkansas) has lower minimum wage than federal. Only one state on the list, New Mexico, has higher minimum wage than the federal.
So if having no minimum wage would overall increase the wealth, why is it that every state that has no minimum wage is a poor state?
12 AnswersPolitics8 years agoEvery time I think about this girl, it hurts. What should I do?
I get nervous every time I'm around her, I can't even think when I'm near her. For a while we both liked each other, and I've always had a crush on her. but a little while ago she told me she doesn't have feelings for me like that. I don't know what's wrong with me, it's been weeks and every time I think about her it's like I feel physical pain, like in my chest and my stomach.
I just can't get her out of my head, I don't know what to do.
2 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoI'm infatuated with a girl, I can't get over her? Never liked a girl this much, HELP?
I think about hr all the time and every time I think about her it hurts. Every time I'm around her I get super nervous even though I put up this really confident guy mask. Can't get her out of my head, we had a thing for a while but long story short I didn't give her enough attention, didn't put enough effort into making her mine. So, I guess she lost interest.
I'm a Junior in high School by the way, and I've never felt this way about a girl before. I mean, I want to get over her because the pain is unbearable, but something in me doesn't want to let go, because to me, she's the only one of her in the entire world and I wouldn't change anything about her even though she has tonnes of flaws. Her and me not being together hurts. What do I do?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoDid we really dodge a bullet with Romney since he's only a little more fascist than Obama?
Obviously, Romney has proven himself time and time again to be a big government Statist throughout his entire political career. if you disagree than you are beyond arguing with and therefore your input is not needed in anyway whatsoever.
Obama is also clearly a Statist, but at least he's a little better than Romney. Repealing don't ask don't tell wouldn't have flown with the Romney brand of Fascism.
When will the time come for an all out revolution? What we are getting constantly is two sides of the same Corporatist coin.
As I said, if you for some insane reason believe Romney is for smaller government of is better than Obama GTFO.
