  • Have you read "Animal Farm"?

This was required reading when I was in Jr. High School. I am re-reading it now with a new perspective. Have you read it? If so, who, in today's society are the "pigs" and the "sheep" from your point of view?

  • Is this one time we can ALL support Harry Reid?

He screwed over Specter ROYALLY. Can't we ALL be on his side this one time?

  • How do I choose the color for Pergo flooring in my family room?

I consider myself a decorating dunce, so I don't know how to coordinate this. The fireplace wall is a deep brown brick with tan grouting. There is a chair rail with bead board in a light pine running around the remaining three walls, and the door molding is also light pine. Above the chair rail, the walls are painted a light blue/green. The family room overlooks the pool outside, so I'm trying to create a seaside feeling.

I want to put down Pergo flooring, but don't have a clue how to choose a shade. Should I try to get a shade that blends closely with the light pine? Or, since the brick is a milk chocolate color, should I look for a shade between the brown and the light pine? Any guidance will be appreciated!

  • What is liver sausage?

On the Food Network website, there is an Emeril Lagasse recipe for Choucroute with Smothered Cabbage and Spaetzle. It calls for liver sausage.

I'm not sure what this is. Is it known by any other names? I live in PA, so I'm sure there must be a Pennsylvania Dutch equivalent. If not, what would you suggest as a substitute?

  • Can you recommend something for my pantry?

I have a pantry/closet in my kitchen that is 19" W x 26" D. It has static ClosetMaid type shelves in there right now that are 12" D. There is a lot of wasted space!

I'd like to install deeper shelves that can be pulled out to reach everything on the shelves easily.

Does anyone know a manufacturer for the system I'm looking for, or where I can buy it? I've checked the Home Depot website, but I can't find what I'm looking for.

  • Have you seen this YouTube video? What is your reaction?

    http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/

texasdarlin is a Hillary supporter, and a staunch Democrat. I've been following her blog for a month or so. Her information is very "inside". I find this video very frightening. What do you think?

  • Do you like this format or the Saddleback format better?

I think we got to know the candidates and their views better in the Saddleback format.

  • What blogs do you read for information on the candidates?

Since the MSM is totally skewed, what blogs/websites have you found that give you information that the MSM ignores?

  • Will the "baby boomers" decide this election?

I'm a baby boomer. We are still the largest demographic bubble. There is no controversy on that.

Many of us who were "Kennedy democrats" have become Republicans because the D party became too radical for us.

What about the Baby Boomers who remained Democrats?

From my discussions with them, they are not going to vote!

The BBs who have remained Democrats, can not vote for Obama, however they can not vote for a Republican. Therefore, they are choosing not to to vote in this election.

They are part of the traditional vote that the Democrats count on.

What have you found out about the voting tendency of the traditional Democrat BB vote? They are still a voting bloc to be considered.

  • Do you believe that MSNBC is saying Palin was very successful!?

Hard to believe, but they are likening her to a "Norma Rae".

(Oh, maybe that movie is before the time of many of the posters here.)

However, it is a very apt allusion.

  • Did you see Sarah Palin's Dad?

He's the man that so-called "trooper" threatened to murder if Sarah's sister dared engage an attorney to protect her from abusing her and her children!

  • Does this sum up the philosophy of Obama supporters here on Y!A Elections?

Women with children don't belong in politics, or in the workplace. They should be home taking care of the children.

Women who do succeed in the workplace got their positions by screwing their way to the top.

If a woman is attractive, they can't be effective because men will not take them seriously.

If a attractive and talented woman is in the public eye, she's fair game to tear down with every sexual innuendo they can come up with.

My, I thought we came a long way! Apparently not in the eyes of Democrats.

  • Who are you anyway? I'm curious who I have been talking to these past few months. ?

Are you willing to reveal something about yourself?

I'm an analyst by profession, which means I identify problem, analyze the causes and propose solutions.

I'm a grandmother of 8 (hence my id), and I care about the world my granddaughters will inherit.

I was raised a staunch Democrat who became a Republican in my 30's when the ideals of the Democratic party left me. I started my political career in jr. high school, when I volunteered to stuff envelopes during the Kennedy election in 1960. I was a political science major in college, and worked for various candidates throughout my life.

Who are you? I'm curious about your political awakening and development.

  • Have you read BOTH "Obama Nation" and the Obama rebuttal?

I have. I find that there are more "Lies" in the rebuttal than in the Corsi book. The rebuttals are "straw man" arguments and do not disprove Corsi's assertions. What is your evaluation? (Credibility is given to those who have read BOTH.)

  • Did Barry take time off from a heated campaign to go to Hawaii because of THIS?

    http://texasdarlin.wordpress.com/2008/08/10/breaki...

Is this the reason for his much belated visit to his elderly grandmother?

  • Those who are reading/have read "Obama Nation". What are your impressions/observations?

Those who have not read the book will be ignored.

I was impressed by the author's objectivity. Except for his determination to tie Obama to Saul Alinsky, I find his book quite objective.

I felt a lot of sympathy for the young Obama, abandoned by his father, and left by a mother who was more interested in herself than her responsibility to her child. No wonder he felt abandoned and alienated.

    What impressed you the most?
