The Young and the Restless reached 1,060 consecutive weeks as the #1 rated daytime drama series against regular scheduled programming, according to Nielsen ratings for the week ending April 24, 2008. The streak began 20 years ago in December, 1988. And it's all due to having simply the best fans around! Thank you for your loyalty and support!

Character History

Mari Jo, an old lover from photographer Blade Bladeson's (Michael Tylo) mysterious past, came to Genoa City. As head of the Jabot Cosmetics art department, she was working with Blade's new wife Ashley Abbott (Brenda Epperson). Mari Jo was still in love with Blade, but Blade would never forgive her for sleeping with his evil twin brother, Rick (also played by Tylo). She assured him that their past would remain a secret, but began blackmailing him as she was the only witness to Rick's drowning as Blade ignored his cries for help.

Rick shocked everyone when he showed up alive in Genoa City, bent on revenge for leaving him to die. Rick had fallen off a pier but did not drown as everyone had thought. Mari Jo again became involved with Rick, but Ashley, seeing them together and knowing nothing of a twin, assumed she and Blade were having an affair. Ashley confronted Blade with the facts, which he could not dispute without uncovering his evil twin.

Mari Jo soon fell in love with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), asked him to marry her, and they became engaged. But Jack broke it off after he found out about her involvement with his sister's husband Blade, and Jack was reunited with his Vietnamese ex, Luan Volien (Elizabeth Sung). Mari Jo did her best to break them up, following them on their trip to St. Thomas. Coincidentally, Blade and Ashley were also there in an attempt to rekindle their marriage. Rick captured Blade and imprisoned him, while Rick took Blade's life as Ashley's husband. Ashley was thoroughly impressed with the change in Blade, both as a husband who now wanted children and as a lover. Mari Jo realized that Blade was really Rick. Not long afterward Blade escaped, confronted Rick, forced him to leave town, and resumed his marriage to Ashley who was very disappointed that he had reverted to his old self. Several more role reversals occurred, ending up with the real Blade being killed when his car was hit by a train. Rick revealed himself to Ashley, but Ashley threw him out, and went to Paris to escape the grief and deception. Mari Jo, with the help of Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton), drove Rick out of town.

Mari Jo turned her affections to Jack's son, Keemo (Philip Moon), but he dumped her after she hired a prostitute to impersonate her in bed with him. Later Mari Jo helped Jack get over the tragic death of his wife Luan, but became obsessed with him. Then Victor Newman (Victor Newman) was shot. Mari Jo turned out to be the culprit after first framing Jill for it. Mari Jo had felt the only way to keep a fax from Keemo detailing all her misdeeds from falling into Victor's hands was to shoot him. The recovering Victor suspected Mari Jo, which led her to assume his attorney Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) had a copy of the fax. So Mari Jo drugged Chris and held her prisoner in the Jabot prop storage room. Victor and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) tracked Mari Jo to Chris thanks to a tracking device they planted on Mari Jo. They arrived just as Mari Jo shot Chris with blanks from a planted gun. Mari Jo was institutionalized for attempted murder of Victor and the kidnapping of Christine.

Young Patty Williams (Lilibet Stern) had no idea when she married the handsome and wealthy heir to Jabot cosmetics, Jack Abbott (then Terry Lester), that her dream would become a nightmare! Patty fell in love with Jack back in the 1980's on The Young and the Restless, but began dating Danny Romalotti (Michael Damien) when a jealous Jill (then Brenda Dickson) informed her that she and Jack were lovers!

When Jack found out what Jill had told Patty, he fired Jill from Jabot! Soon, Patty and Danny split so she could date Jack. Her parents, Carl and Mary Williams, were not impressed, as Jack was considered a playboy.

At this time, Jack was also carrying on with model Diane Jenkins (Alex Donnelley), who was hoping to sleep her way to a top position at Jabot. Diane fell in love with Jack and wanted to marry him, but he had other ideas. Jack decided that marrying Patty would be the one way to convince his father, John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) that he had matured and was ready to take the reins as President of Jabot! But Jack didn't stop sleeping with Diane, in fact, that's who his sister Ashley (Eileen Davidson) found him with when he was late for his wedding to Patty!

After they were hitched, Patty became pregnant, but miscarried the child when she fell at Jabot, after catching her husband having sex with Diane in his office! Patty recovered from the loss and wanted to have another baby with Jack, but everything changed when she overheard him telling Jill that he didn't want kids - he was planning a vasectomy! Patty also learned the devastating news that Jack had only married her in order to win his place at Jabot.

Patty and Mary (CBS)Patty confronted Jack about everything, and was ready to kill herself in front of him! He convinced her at the last second that he was to blame, however, and so she turned the gun on him - shooting him three times! The aftermath included the drama of Carl Williams trying to discover the identity of the person who shot his son-in-law, only to learn that it was his own daughter!

Patty plea-bargained her way out of jail time, and Jack suggested reconciliation, but Patty was done with him and their marriage. She left town, returning only once, when she briefly dated Danny again.

Monday May 4:

Jill is bound and gagged by Nina! Lauren discovers her in the closet! Katherine is amused, and Cane puts his mother to bed!

Paul tells Nikki there is something familiar about Mary Jane.

Neil tells Victor that Katherine hired him - Victor is shocked! Victor then confronts Kay about hiring Neil - she laughs at him - they then discuss Nikki.

Katherine tells Michael she will ask the Governor for a full pardon for Kevin and Amber!

Ashley makes nice with Nikki, who then warns Jack she's worried about his sister!

Billy accuses Cane of buying the bar and hiring Mac as 'payback'!

Jill makes her way downstairs and once again winds up attacking Murphy, Esther, and Katherine - Billy and Cane have to escort her out!

After Daniel says he used to have a crush on Mac, Amber and Chloe bond over disliking her!

Jack and Victor have words about Ashley!

Victor cuts in on Nikki and Paul's dance and tells her that 'it's entirely possible he misconstrued' what happened with the gown. She relishes the apology, but seems flushed after dancing with him!

Billy and Mac dance. When he kisses her, Chloe sees! Mac slaps him, and Chloe kisses his boo-boo and takes him home!

Nikki catches the bouquet and Paul kisses her as Victor looks on.

Jill slips a much younger bartender her room key!

Ashley has another strange experience when she hears a baby crying in the dark!

Kevin is put into a straight jacket and hollers that he just wants to die! He is taken in an ambulance and jumps out the back while it's moving!

Cane and Lily make a decision about the future - they won't wait to have a baby!

Heather and Victor face off when she turns up at the Ranch for Adam's birthday!

Rafe reveals that he's gay!

Karen and Neil have a screaming match back at the house in which she accuses him of using her to get over his dead wife and of lying to her all along! She even hits him!

Jill takes to drinking, and almost blurts to Ashley about Victor being behind the purchase of Jabot stock!

Cane arrives at the courthouse just as Tyra and Ana are reunited. Lily points out that it's the right thing - a child being with her mother.

Billy and Chloe encounter Mac at the coffee house. A tense Chloe goes off on Mac, who tells her that she isn't leaving town or hiding!

Mac sits alone watching Billy reassure Chloe before the court case. He says nothing is going to happen to 'his girls'!

Cane asks to speak to Chloe alone at the courthouse, and tells her he is dropping the custody suit. She is relieved, and promises him that the only name that matters to her now is 'mom'!

Lauren tells Phyllis that she needs to eliminate Sharon from the equation!

Cane asks Lily if marriage is back on the table?!

When Jana goes in to see Kevin, he looks at her lovingly - and calls her Amber!
