  • Does anyone know anything about bankruptcy in Allegheny County, PA?

My friend is a 35 year old male with no dependents and no assets. 14K in credit card debt. It's been accumulating for a decade. He made a payment arrangement and has been paying as agreed with the companies, but they are now demanding PIF or a judgment. There are no assets to seize. The first attorney he contacted required a 2K upfront payment for services. This does not sound reasonable to me. What is a reasonable fee? Is this something you can do yourself or with a free/cheap LegalAid organization? Thanks for any input!

p.s- I understand that acquiring 15K in unsecured debt is neither responsible nor reasonable, so I would appreciate if the responders would limit themselves to useful information!

  • Funny note sent to guests at a wedding that had been cancelled?

there was an article about it in a magazine or online at least a year ago. It was hilarious! I wanted to get engaged, send invitations, and then call it off just to be able to send these out. However, now I can't remember what they said. I think it was rhymy and that one line said something like, the groom gets the ring.....does anyone else remember this? Good website where I may be able to find it? Thanks! Happy 2011!

  • Best birth control method for mother who would like to ensure more children in the future?

I have one child. It's become apparent that I need to be on some type of birth control; after 3 years of not needing to worry about this stuff. Yay! However, I am confused. The options have changed a lot! I would like something that is not necessarily taken every day. It seems like there must be something easier than Nordette pills now. I want truly good birth control with minimal effort, minimal side effects, and an option that does not decrease future fertility. Certainly, I will see my OB first, but I would like to research the options first so I have a few specific options to ask about. Thanks so much...

  • Is my toddler normal?

I would say that he is, except for the fact that several people have said he is not. He's my only child, so he is the only one who I have personally seen through the "terrible two's". I don't spank him. It has never been an issue. Until now, TIMEOUT was a good punishment and a great deterrant. These days, at 2.5 yo, he has been hitting, kicking, and biting. He screams bloody murder when he does not get what he wants. He hits and kicks and bites our beloved animals. He throws and breaks things. He spits in our faces, literally. I don't know where my sweet boy has gone! I am torn. I expect that some of these behaviors are normal with toddlers, but the violence is not predictable or expected. How do you discipline a child who is so violent without resorting to violence yourself? It's not that I have some biological or personal belief that prohibits spanking, it's that it does not seem to me like a reasonable way to treat a child who has become unruly in the same manner. He is a smart kid, and often quite lovable...but his mood swings are so severe. I do not want to medicate him. What do you think? Am I just too soft with the little fella!? I'm not going to hit him. Time-Out is just not working anymore........Suggestions?
