  • Is having a rebound dog a good idea?

Before you give me the rebound-is-never-a-good-idea speech, hear me out.

The dog (Short Hair) was brought by my sister, whom we lost too early in life. You would think we keep him because he reminds us of her, but in our 16yrs together he proved to be SO MUCH more.

He knows his schedule. He reminds us when we're late (how he can tell time eludes me. We don't even keep clocks in the yard!). He knew if his name was mentioned, then walked closer to be included in the conversation.

In short, he was intertwined in our daily life, and I depended on him more than intended (and the 'intended' list was quite long to begin with).

THis is when the idea of having another dog came to me. My plan is to have a visual reminder of his life, because oh-my-god the pain of empty spaces in my sight that;s usually filled with silver dapple shapes literally takes my breath away. I've sobbed in every corner of the house. I've put up pictures of him, but they only stare at me blankly.

I won't treat the new guy the same, I know by heart they're not the same. I just need to see silver dapple moving around

Just like he eased the pain of losing my sister, can another dog ease the pain of losing one?

Will facing a dog's death become easier the second time? (it's fair to say this is my first dog)

I'd be really grateful if someone who had experience with rebound dogs can help me.

  • Any ideas what I should get to replace Corel Draw?

I want a 2D program that allows me to practically lay a paper down and draw on it in real-time metric scale. Just like Corel :-) but free

A free software is a BIG plus, since I had several accidents where I bought something just to find out it didn't work as well as I expected. Trials, you say? Forget it. When I actually bought it, problems starting to show up. Either the trial period was too short for me to explore everything or the functions that come with the paid version stalled.

BUT I'm willing to try if you give me enough reason ;-)

  • Anyone can tell me why serena is crying in the beginning of her match vs Jankovic?

I'm all the way in asia, something that might've happened in her hometown could be slow to arrive here. It looked pretty serious :-(

  • Do you think Serena lost on purpose?

Okay. I correct myself. Maybe not exactly 'on purpose' (I couldn't put it short enough for the question line, sorry), but maybe she didn't set out to win on the first place? Before you start screaming to me, hear me out: I didn't see her usual scream when she put on a winner after 5 losses. I didn't see her berating herself for errors. It looked like she couldn't care less about the outcome of every stroke.

So I'm left to think that maybe she thrashed Lisicki 6-1 in the second set to prove she could and then gave Lisicki the 3rd set.

Is it my imagination? If you think I'm wrong, please give an explanation.

  • How mad are you when Stosur was ousted??!?

She has potential, she played amazing, and a few winners from Errani derailed her mentally? Isn't that a shame? ...

  • To those who watch Haven: What is Duke Crocker's affliction?

Before you stone me, yes, I did google, and none of the sites seem to know what exactly is his affliction (or should I say Trouble?) One did say that he can cure a family's curse through murder, but didn't specify how; who does he have to murder to cure a family? Has he ever done it? He doesn't look like someone with blood on his hands, but if he never done it, how does he know what his affliction is?

Please warn me if your answer is a spoiler, I'm only halfway through season 2 :-P

  • Question for anyone out there who owns Sony DSC W380 and/or Canon SX 210iS?

I'm really picky when it comes to camera :-P i want to get one of the two, but i want to be sure that it has what i need. I need help obtaining sample picture. I already checked reviews, but their sample pictures are all -of course- picture-perfect.

So if you have one of the two, can you do me a tiny teeny favor?

I need an outdoor picture on a cloudy day on objects that has the color red, blue, and yellow. It'll have to be on automatic setting, not on any 'scene selection' thing, no zoom, just turn the camera on and click.

You can IM me if you want to send it personally or have further question or to follow up.

    Please please pretty please? :-)

  • Do you think that French fans are just...?

    trained hecklers??

goodness i can't stand the way they cheer for Monfils (v. Fognini) when his play didn't deserve any compliments (granted, Fognini wasn't the better player either and basically they have the same low-quality play). Very disrespectful to the referee when he wanted to stop Monfils v. Fognini match (thus encourage Monfils to disregard him, thus the ridiculously dark match that they couldn't finish anyway)

They boo-ed every chair umpire decision if it's not in their players' favor (in same match, and in Rezai v.Petrova), even if it is fair call. It's like they don't understand tennis, and their main purpose is to make a lot of noise.

Am i the only one who sees it like this? I hate to be a hater :-/

...or is this another 'spiked soda' story?

after agassi humiliated WADA with his escape, i don't think he's going to get away with this, do you? See what happened to Wickmayer & Malisse, banned for a year and they didn't even tested positive!
