Manual Trans/Clutch Problem?
I have a 2000 Mercury Cougar. Everything was working great. The clutch worked properly and was nice and tight, when all of a sudden on the freeway in 5th gear, the clutch disengaged and now when I raise up off the clutch pedal, the car will not PULL in any gear. There was no sign that the clutch was going out or slipping prior to this. Also, now the gears can be shifted without depressing the clutch pedal, but the car still won't move. What can be the problem?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoDo they make any newer minivans that are like the Chevy Astro?
I am looking for a minivan that can tow a motorcycle trailer AND hold a 4 x 8 foot sheet of plywood inside the van. The chevy astro was kind of a middle size van that could do this but they stopped making them. Does anyone know of a model of van that looks kind of like the astro as far as size and can do this now? Thanks! I don't want an SUV or full size van. And I want the seating space inside, but it needs to be able to tow a motorcycle.

What are the two wires in the 7 wire electrical connection going to the transmission that control the TCC? I have shuttering when the TC locks up and need to disconnect the correct wires to see if the problem stops. Thanks in Advance!
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years ago3800 Engine Problems in my Olds 98?
1994 Oldsmobile "98" engine stalling problems? Anyone had similar problems please?
I have a 94 oldsmobile regency 98 with the 3800 series 1 engine. It ran beautifully until we took it into a shop because it stalled and would not start. The shop kept our car for 2 weeks and literally butchered every part trying to find the problem. We ended up having to pull the car from that shop and take it to a certified delco shop who said the problem was in the alarm system/ignition and supposedly wired around that. The car then started, but the once very smooth running engine has never been the same. Now the problem is worse. The first shop "supposedly" replaced the crank sensor, cam sensor, and even TRIED to replace the pcm (they were just replacing every part they could in their search for the part that was keeping the car from starting... this is where we told them to put it all back together and took it to the other shop)
Now the car is stalling/losing power... and when you try to restart it... it won't "catch". It sounds like it sometimes tries to backfire. We have it towed home and go out the next morning and it starts fine... drive it a few miles and it stalls out again... seems like the timing is off...
Have replaced ignition module, coil packs, o2 sensors, spark plugs, wires, ignition module under the coil packs... ground wires... throttle position sensor, MAP sensor.
Still get the intermittent problem of the car stalling or just not wanting to start properly. This doesn't seem to be an overheating problem as when we leave it sitting, it can either start up great or just not want to start... but always cranks over... fuel pressure is ok...
Please... help... has anyone else experienced this from a 3800 series 1?
What were your experiences and what was the ultimate solution?
Thanks!
PS: The car throws no codes.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years ago1993 Oldmobile Regency Cranks but won't start?
Car was running fine. Started to not start intermittently when she turned it off... It cranks but no spark. Then it died while driving down the road and would not start again. (Still Cranks). We took it to a shop. They replaced the ign coil packs and ignition module.... then they replaced the cam and crank sensors... then they replaced the computer... STILL WONT START... they finally said that they can't fix it... now she has a car that has basically been butchered and still it doesn't start. It seems like a dead short somewhere. Why can't they find it? ANY insight on what it could be would be VERY MUCH appreciated... Thanks!
1 AnswerGMC10 years ago1993 Oldsmobile Regency intermittent start problem.?
Just recently my 93 Olds will crank but not start. It is throwing NO CODE. The check engine light is not on. It has an alarm system with the chip in the key. But it does crank. I would estimate about 80% of the time it cranks and starts fine. But the other 20% of the time it will crank and it acts like it is not getting coil spark to start the engine. I keep retrying until the battery is almost dead and it will FINALLY catch and the engine will start and run fine. My wife said one time it cut off on her on the freeway. I have cleaned all the battery connections and everything seems fine. If it was the VATS system i dont think it would even crank. What can this be that causes it to crank but not start sometimes? (with no computer error code)?

1 AnswerGovernment10 years agoMy 92 caprice is overheating and radiator fluid is coming from the plastic overflow tank.?
I replaced the thermostat, flushed the radiator... it still overheated, so i removed the thermostat altogether. The engine water hose gets really hard like there is no water flowing. It is still overheating. The water pump is not leaking. There is no white smoke from the exhaust. What else can it be? Thanks
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs10 years agoUSA no longer most powerful country in the world?
The United States credit rating has been dropped from the sterling AAA credit rating to only an AA+ because of the recent mishaps. This will cost the U.S. and its citizens billions of dollars in increased fees in an already strapped economy. How will we survive and who will be the new superpower of the world?
