Compared to the other OTC (Over The Counter) drugs on the market and their possible side effects, I don't understand why hormonal contraceptives haven't been pushed to OTC.

Politicians and advocacy groups are decrying the lack of access for birth control for women. Allegedly, the problem is women have to go to their doctors repeatedly to renew their prescriptions so they can receive hormonal contraceptives.

Why don't women and advocacy groups push to have the Pill removed from prescription-only and have them switched to OTC? You have a single doctor's visit to have the blood work done to see which hormonal level you should start with and you purchase them from there.

This would allow competition and marketing to lower the price and it would expand access. In short, it would solve the problems people are crying out over, except it wouldn't make it free.

If access and pricing are TRULY the issues, why aren't they being addressed this way?

Or is it that the issue is worth more politically than the answer is worth to the people asking for it?

I'm writing a story and one of the supporting characters is a husband driven to succeed in the Navy. i don't want him to be the youngest Captain of a major vessel ever, but I don't want his career (and therefore the span of the story) to be crazy long.

If a guy were to enter the Navy at 21 as an officer, having received his Bachelor's degree in college first, what would be a reasonable and yet still fairly impressive time frame to go from Ensign to Captain of a long-term-voyage vessel?

I'm making them two ways to try them out: I have some marinating in diced tomatoes and will slow-cook them in tomato sauce with onions and I have some marinating in milk with lemon juice and will slow-cook them in cream and wine.

I figure both marinades should be acidic so as to neutralize and basic properties of any residual urine in them.

I'm wondering about texture and flavor, though, as I've never had them before.

I see new computers that seem to have a lower GHz CPU than a computer I put together a few years ago, but I would think they would have better processors, not worse.

Do Dual Cores mean there are two CPUs with the lower GHz, achieving an overall larger amount?

For instance, if I had a 2.5 GHz single processor, would a 2.3 GHz dual core processor have the effective processing power of a 4.6 Ghz single processor?

Every once in a while, when accelerating, the engine revs up but does not engage. I let off the gas and try again and this time the car goes faster. The car has about 180k+ miles on it so I'm thinking that this would be the red flag for needing a new transmission.

Am I on the right track? Any ideas on what that is going to cost me?

I just bought a 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback. Had it for three weeks and I blew my head gasket. After looking at the options, I figure getting a Long Block and swapping out will be the best idea so I have some warranty on the engine thereafter. Finding a 1999 Long Block is proving difficult, though.

Will a 2003 or 2004 Long block work? Are they the same basic engine?

I've been watching the episodes of Psych on Netflix and HOLY COW, it seems there's a pineapple, or mention of pineapples, in every episode!
