  • When did you deliver baby #2?

Im 38wks along with baby number 2 and cant wait for this pregnancy to be over! I cant wait to meet baby, but honestly this pregnancy has been the complete opposite of my first. My first I felt AMAZING and NEVER got to that point where I was uncomfortable and ready to deliver, this time though I have been sick the ENTIRE time and am ready to be exhausted from having a new baby rather than nauseated and vomiting all day... So after that little rant lol, my question is how many mommies delivered their 2nd baby BEFORE their due date?

Last week I was 100% effaced and 1cm, had a natural med free birth with my 1st and am not worried about labor just wanting it to happen soon :)

  • Spelling? Which do you like better and why?

So my hubby and I are expecting #2 and we have ALWAYS wanted the name Lyra (L-eye-Ra) when and if we had a little girl........well its happened 7 yrs later but now we ware trying to decide how we want to spell it.

Lyra (this is the proper greek spelling...but its also the spelling for the nook screens and other devices)

    or

Lyrah( my friend suggested this spelling option and I like the way it looks written but dose it make the name sound different when pronounced by some)

    Hi All,

My son is 11.5mos old. He has a terrible cold. We took him to the doc and she said that hes just gotta cold. This was on Monday and he still isn't any better in fact hes worse. But his Doc is now on vacation and wont be back until May 14th.

Do you have any suggestions to help comfort my little guy. He has an awful runny nose that literally wont quit, he cant breathe. His nose is so stuffed up and runny that when he sleeps he gets snot in his eyes! He hasn't hardly eaten or nursed because he cant breathe.

Ive been using the suction bulb, vaporizer, infant Vick's rub, steaming up the bathroom, nothing is helping. He grumpy and exhausted.

Is there anything that I could give him to help easy his congestion so he could eat and rest?

Im a nurse but pediatric just isn't my thing and its always different when its your baby.

Any and all help is appreciated

  • Opening a cake shop/bakery--legalities?

My friend and I are considering opening a small bakery and cake shop. (Right now its just talk) but if we were to really do so where would one start as far as business licenses' and what not.

We already have a location, and 90% of the equipment (have been making cakes from home for a few years for friends and family) we just don't know where to begin with paperwork and other requirements that are necessary.

We live in california, if anyone has any info that could head us in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate it.

  • Labor and Delivery question?

This is our first baby and I had my 36 weeks apt today, I lost my mucus last night, haven't had any contracts and the midwife didn't seem too concerned and neither am I, my biggest concern is that we haven't take the childbirth class yet, it is sched. for next week.

What if He decides to arrive before we take the class? I know we can manage but my biggest question is what do I take to the hospital with us?

What do I take in my bag?

Do I bring a bag for the baby?

  • Skin irritation or fleas?

Hi there, so my husband and I took our 2 year old mastiff-X with us on our holiday road trip. It was a 10 hour car ride from our home to my mothers, when we got to my mothers Tanker (our dog) was very hyper as he had some pent up energy so he spent a few hours outside playing with my moms dogs. After being there for a day or so I noticed that Tank was itching like crazy, I gave him a benedryl and a bath, I didn't find any fleas but my mom's neighbor has 11 cats and I did notice fleas on them, anyhow I treated Tanker with front-line to be safe that was on the 27 of December, then this morning when I woke up I noticed that Tanker looked lumpy???? Yes lumpy, I have given him another bath but he is covered in welts like irritated bug bites???? Still he has no fleas and other than itching it hasn't bothered him, personality wise or activity wise. His diet is that same and so is him appetite.

Has anybody else experienced this with their pets before? Have any ideas what else it could be? Should I take him to the vet?

Thanks for any and all answers.

  • What do you think of these names?

Some my husband and I are currently expecting our first child May 5, 2009 and we are pretty excited. I know that we have plenty of time but we are pretty sure that we have narrowed it down to a few names.

We come from a VERY Italian family so that's the theme we are trying to stick with for the 1st name and all of our middle name choices are names of people special to us.

    Thanks for all your input!

    For a girl:

    Gianna Alexis

    For a boy:

    Lorenzo Markus

    Attillio Phillip

    Lucca Anthony

  • flutters vs. actual movements?

I am 15 weeks and I feel occasional butterfly tingles in my belly mostly in the evening, I have determined that this is the baby, however I have 2 questions:

    1) when should I expect to feel actual movements- like kicks?

    2) when should my husband be able to feel the baby's movements?

Thank you for all of your info, I do realize the every pregnancy is different, I am just trying to get an approximate time line.

    Thanks again

  • aerial fire fighting / aviation jobs?

    Aerial fire fighting /Aviation Jobs?

Hi there my husband is a commercial pilot and currently works for a very small business that is contracted with the military, he chases the drone aircraft. Anyhow before he went to flight school he was a fire fighter and very much wants to do aerial fire fighting. He has about 1300 total flight time and 70 multi engine time, he has his instrument rating along with other ratings that I am not positive on, anyhow I was wondering if anybody new of any good web sites that list current job openings for pilots or if anybody has any advise as to how to go about getting picked up by Cal- fire or the Forest service to fly next season. He is just wanting a more exciting career and closer to home. (siskiyou or shasta county (CA) preferably) Any and all help is appreciated.

  • Hairy tummy during pregnancy?

Okay so I'm 13 weeks with my first child and I think I remember reading that you may grow extra hair or that your hair can grow faster while pregnant. Anyhow I was in the shower and I noticed that my belly was covered in blonde peach fuzz like hairs. I've always had hair there I know, but there is a ton more. is this common. I mean I am not going to be walking around in bikini or something but my belly looks crazy hairy (in bright light) is this normal and will it go away?

    Thanks

  • Early pregnancy question?

Okay so I am somewhat new to this but I have just a few questions that I hope you wouldn't mind answering!

(I am seeing my Dr so these are just questions about everyone else in general..... I am not looking for medical advixe or anything!)

    1. Early on in your pregnancy like 3- weeks did you have thin clear discharge at random... is this normal for some people

    2. Everyday I have light cramping like my period is going to start but nothing happens they just come and go, anybody else have this

    3. I have a slight increase in my basal body temp every morning for the past 6 days.... is this common

    4. Heart burn that feels like slight chest pain.....?

These few things and my missed period are all I am experiencing but my Dr. says it could be too soon to test, I ovulated 23 days ago, have missed my period (always regular) by 9 days and still negative urine test I am taking a blood test on Monday

Thanks in advance for any and all answers

This was our first attempt at ttc

  • TTC baby #1 any and all answers appreciated?

So my husband and I have decided to TTC, I stopped my birth control back in January. SO I have been monitoring my cycle (28days) the 1st day of my last period was 4/14/08 lasted 5 day and I should have ovulated yesturday but instead I think I ovulated today... anyhow we did it on 4/25, 4/26, and 4/28, assuming there is nothing wrong with either of us do you think our chances are good or should we have done it today also. (He is the service so I only see him every few months)
